@HerbieVonVapster - The only difference with the pineapple iHeat is the shape. There are lots of possibilities. Thanks for updating the FCSHARE files. Still enjoying my DNA board.

It seems that the issue I had with the Steam Engine can be worked around by opening the battery door and reseating the batteries.

So, to recap: every time I screw the iHeat onto the Steam Engine it refuses to work. This can be sometimes fixed by loosening the screw at the bottom of the iHeat so it sticks out a little more, but now I find that I can get it to work just by reseating the batteries.... :shrug:

I also just received an evic Primo SE which fits the iHeat perfectly and works great in simple variable wattage mode at 32 W (as does the Steam Engine). The Primo SE is very nice and portable with a pleasing curved shape.

I have been thinking about stems. We need stems that are short as possible for using in public spaces, but also with some way to cool the vapor. I found that a 19mm male to male piece with a screen in the middle works well. The additional screen absorbs some heat.
The epicvape GonG adapter for the nano is a perfect fit!

Another thing would be to have short glass tubes with a spiral air path (like a conch shell) . This can be seen in the new anti-spit drip tips for e-liquid tanks- those really make for a smooth vape experience.

But now I'm curious. Can you guys confirm that the 510 center pin on your iHeat base is adjustable with a Allen key? Mine seems to have a roundish hole and my Allen keys just turned without biting anything. As I have one of the earliest iHeat around, maybe mine is just not adjustable and newer versions are?

I could try replacing that center pin, but right now I think I would be better off finding a whole new 510 base and transplanting the heater to it. Anyone found a compatible host? @Alan: any source you could share?

@Abysmal Vapor: thanks for the heads up mate. I'll report when I receive that foil as I already ordered it for some time before I posted the link. I read about 202 grade before placing my order, and it just seemed it was a regular stainless steel with less nickel content (which is a good thing knowing that nickel is kinda bad for health)

It just has less corrosion resistance (but since it won't be in contact with plant material nor vapor, excepted for blow backs, I thought it wouldn't matter) But your comments have me a bit worried now... bah no big deal, it was super cheap anyway and as you said I could still use it outside of the vapor path in my other projects, say for instance as a reflector around a glass part.

Can you guys comment on the runtime of the iHeat on the evic VTC mini and the evic Primo SE? I'd like to get an iHeat but I'm looking for an inexpensive mod to run it on, and a single battery appeals to me, just curious how much time you get out of it.

I get about 4 bowls per charge with my usage pattern. You'll get probably much more if you like cashing yours fast. I like to have mine last personally.

Can you expand on your usage pattern a bit? :D I'm planning on using this mostly as an on demand, so I guess 4 bowls with a few hits per bowl is pretty good from a single 18650, I'd be happy with that. :)

I use an Eleaf iStick Power mod with my iHeat and it works perfectly and lasts a long time. It's small, charges quickly and it's inexpensive enough that I own 3 of them and rotate them. The batteries are NOT removable but with 3 of them, I don't need removable batteries.

I use TCR=90 and 410F to 420F (I like it hot).

It's like these 2 were made to go together. A single charge lasts 6 or 7 bowls of 5 or 6 hits each. That's a full day for most people.

I get upwards of 30 hits per bowl using the same material quantity as others, and my exhales don't look too shabby to me... so I've always been puzzled by the size of the hits you guys must be doing to cash the same quantity so fast.

Unless you stop earlier than me maybe? Say if you stop as soon as the taste degrades I could understand maybe... or it's just that we don't have the same kind of lungs. Also that I use my vapes exclusively dry and I find exhaling big clouds to be a waste personally... I don't know.

HI @Alan I just received my hcigar vt75d the same model you choose

Fake wood panel looks cheap but I tried it quickly and it seems already an improvement (more even cook and faster vapor production) I would like to know how do you use it.. would you mind sharing your setting with this mod please?

Edit: i took off fake wood panels and it looks even nicer to me.
I found it is quite easy to play with its settings, they are few and not so complicates.
SS316 29w 227C. This gives me first hit thicker (a lot thiker) than my 27w on wattage mode on witcher and overheating seems it is no more a risk while the exhale is way more impressive (wastefull yes, but satisfying)

Had an accident last night. Fall asleep with my new hcigar in hand and i was waken up by the sound of my more recent joy falling on the tile floor

Seemed ok but I was too baked to check properly

Today it was acting a little anemic and after exposing the coil I saw it was standing Pisa tower like, no more vertical. With a gentle push of finger it went back in its right position (I pushed the outher post and the whole spiral moved back) and performances are back on


I found that @237-247 of coil temp it correspond a convective stream @185-190C which is my fave spot

« Dna 75c evolv thing » is worthed the extra money, no need for a pc to tailor pretty fine, puff graphs are usefull. hcigar is one of the cheapest options and feels nice in hand

Only thing that is qestioning my happiness is: how much power is given to coil in preheat time? could it be too much (even if for very short time)?

@Andreaerdna - I am using the SS316 profile, 0.33 ohms, 34 watts, and 290F. The preheat is on with a kick of 5. I recommend downloading escribe so that you can connect it to your computer to make a few more changes. I locked the resistance value so that it doesn't prompt for new values. You still have the option to measure the resistance. The default preheat wattage is 75 which is why it gets to temperature so quickly. It can be lowered using escribe. The puff info is a great way to fine tune draw speed and time.
Glad to hear you were able to straighten the coil so that it is performing well again. Still need to get more ss foil liners cut. That will happen with an upcoming iHeat batch.

@aoaiwof - I just need to cut some threads on the wood so that those mouthpieces will screw on like they do with the glass tubes. I may be doing things with arizer stems for a project I'm working on to make a HI w/ a larger heater cover. The arizer stems may be a perfect fit.

So the 12mm roasting tubes will fit the Arizer mouthpieces if threaded correctly? That's awesome!

My iHeat will soon be on the way! :D I'm getting the walnut iHeat with a walnut capsule roasting tube with 12mm glass. Excluding shipping that comes to ~£100 (plus a bit more for PayPal fees). For the mod I'm getting a bronze Wismec Sinuous P80, which I found for £30 delivered, and I've ordered an LG HG2 and a Samsung 30Q for £10 delivered.

At £140, this has to be the cheapest regulated on-demand convection vape. :D Can't wait for everything to arrive, now I just need some herbs.

Depending on wood moisture I found my wooden stem can secure firmly or not quite the glass insert. When it is loose it could slide out easily so i found a way to adjust it safely, cheap and easy, I want to share: a little piece/tape shape of unbleached paper (brown one, used for food),with some care paper secures itself flat inside the wooden stem in between glass and wood, stays out of vaporpath, and with less than a round i got solid friction securing a loose glass

I ordered this guy today to go along with the iH, it's a sbody macro II DNA 75 . Not color and no repeat mode but with the 15% Black Friday code , it came to $46, not bad I think ! Fits a 18650 or 20700. Its said to be the smallest DNA mod in the description. Now to find a rig on dhgate and all set for new iH and LB videos :nod:

I am contemplating grabbing this one as well, it sounds pretty good, but I am also tempted by sticking with the tubo software I already know in an RXmini or Cuboid mini, or even a regular Cuboid 2batt but I feel like I would have enjoyed the simplicity of the internal battery...

My iHeat arrived today, this thing is magnificent. When I opened the parcel I was happy to see Alan included a couple of capsules for my stem as well as some basket screens, and a little wooden pokie, in different little plastic bags. The attention to detail in packaging and just great customer service with a few extra goodies (and great emailing about my order throughout) is a great cherry on top. :D

I opened the stem first and this thing is so beautifully finished. The glass is much thinner than I expected, I was anticipating more like the Arizer stems, but this is very delicate. It slides freely (but securely!) in the roasting tube, so I am using it as a telescoping mouthpiece :D I have the capsule stem, so I fiddled with the included capsule -- Alan said I might prefer the basket screens, which I haven't tried yet, but I now understand why people complain that the S+B caps are fiddly!

Then I actually opened the iHeat... wow. This thing looks the business, it's so different to see this completely wooden oven, so well finished on the inside. The detail of the wood is amazing, the texture of the grain is striking.

Currently I am enjoying it at 27W VW, using the long slow draw technique I use with the Arizer. But oh my god the airflow is so
open, there is just a tiny bit of resistance, and it's amazing. I tried the TCR 90 and SS316L TC configs (AF) but not had much success, it doesn't seem to go over 20 W and the temp is all over the place while I draw. But I'm loving just cruising along a fixed wattage -- at 27W I can start off slow, bring it up a little hot, and then cool it back down over ~20 seconds. AF seems to have a max puff time of 15 seconds though, which is kinda annoying, anyone know how to disable this? Or is it a safety thing for the battery?

I notice, if I heat the unit unloaded at as low as 15W there is a kinda metallicy smell coming from the oven, is this typical of these sorts of vapes? Do I need to burn-off or burn-in the unit?

Thanks @Alan this thing is amazing, really beautifully made and sold at a really fair price. I know it is going to take me a long time to fully explore the iHeat :)

EDIT: Woah ok, so if I just heat the unit up unloaded for a while, I'm getting a load of moisture appearing on one side of the unit, where the grain is quite densely and deeply pitted, moisture from inside the wood?
