Best 'out and about' vape

Hey all,

Was wondering what vapes people consider their faves or the best for going to the pub, bar, club, gig, etc. Criteria may include:
  • discreet -- appearance, smell, size, ...
  • social -- easy to use and can hold enough for 2-4 people, like a joint
  • easy/quick to load/unload
  • price and durability -- I don't mind taking something expensive if I don't think it will break, but sometimes I'd rather take something cheaper.
The Vapcap M seems like it is cheap and durable, and good solo, but maybe not good for a group. As for discreet, in use it looks dodgy, but i guess when you're pulling on it it looks like a thin e-cig.

A 510 mod (Splinter, iHeat, StemPod) looks pretty discreet and should be good for groups but are more expensive. The tubo evic seems perfect in this regard except being slightly less discreet in appearance. But am I gonna wanna take one of these out for the price point? Need to invest in a wooden stem to improve durability for carrying around.

The Lil' Bud is cheaper, doesn't look too discreet but I think you could blag it, but the learning curve might make it not so good for sharing.

I heard the Grasshopper is good if you get one that works...

Also the Haze Square seems pretty good except it being finicky. :/

The Firewood 5 looks great but quite conspicuous and I worry about the glass stem.

Looking forward to hearing others' thoughts :)

I really can't speak to the social/sharing or mods aspects of your question-
But- I took my FW2 everywhere, and the stem on the FW5 protrudes less then the FW2 did.- Have the Lil'Bud, but have not tried it yet due to waiting on part of my order- Haze Square, it is bulky in my opinion for pocketability, and I would worry about losing the stem when out and about for long- disappointing since I got mine mainly for an all in one on the go- Don't have my Tubo evic yet-
Re vapcap, I have not traveled with mine much, but have experience being on the go w/butane vapes, and I would not recommend that to beginners personally....though I do not regret any of my vape collection.

I'm actually strongly considering the DaVinci Miqro to add to my on the go options- but perhaps the IQ for you- since group use-

All things considered, especially the 2-4 person sessions, I'd suggest the crafty ( get a case) and capsule key chain. It can be a freight train if it's dialed correctly.
Having said that, I'm in Canada so I'm not as worried about descreetness, other than the smell.

I agree that the vapcap isn't discreet - it looks like you're smoking crack, what with the torch...

mighty/crafty would work, but you might have to reload if there are 4 of you. you don't even really need the capsules - it comes with a loading tool that's easy to use. one nice thing about them is that they don't require a lot of technique, so you only have to tell your friends to take long slow draws - period.

Since you listed a lot of unregulated convection portables, check out the Nomad too. A lot of the designs aren’t too discreet, but if you work with Dan on a less flashy design than most it may be the right one for you. I *think* it’s the smallest of these types of devices, and there are a lot of other things to love about it. :)

Sorry guys but the fury 2 is not going to handle 2-4 people.

Boundless CFC 2.0 is the one for group use.

Reasonably discreet, very cheap at £69, holds 0.5g, replaceable battery so you can carry a spare.
It's not going to give you vapor as smooth, flavorsome or thick as a top range vape, but it's going to be satisfactory and get you high without looking obvious or making you paranoid someone will drop it.

The low battery life (and that without exchangeable cells) of the Fury 2 does only make it an "out and about" vape for light users in my opinion. I would not survive more than the first half of the day with the Fury 2, but everybody has different needs...

For whatever is worth, I've used the vapcap in public. I act cool and inconspicuous, that's what people see. I'm not saying it's the best for it, but I am saying almost any portable vape will work in public. Most people don't know what they are. So if you act suspicious with it, they will think it's suspicious. If I pull it out and treat it like it's an ecig, that's what people view it as. I've used my iheat and all manner of cheap Vapes at amusement parks while waiting in the lines.

Just don't huddle around it and act like it's a pot session. Lol
I would probably go with the tubo if it were me, but a season vape would do you well. I think you would be happy with a s&b portable, no technique involved, bigger bowl, easy to pass around. You might think a mighty is too big to pass as a ecig, and it's true. But it still doesn't look like anything bad, I'm serious. In most cases just be as discrete and casual as you can manage and you'll be alright.

I have been using my Stempod for out and about lately and It never got a suspicious stare at all. Its big and bulky but people thinks its an ecig so they dont have any suspicion. Battery lasts forever and I get a little doob tube with weed and I load it in a breeze. I also have a fury 2 but i agree battery life is not enough.

I absolutely agree with @Diggy Smalls. I am known for vaping in nearly every public place (within common sense). Most people out there are quite simply structured when it comes to thinking. If you do not look like an obvious junkie and handle your vape as if it would be the most natural thing in the world, then they simply assume that everything is okay with you. Just try not to molest people with the smell and don't seem as if you are stealing candies and most vapes will stay unrecognized for the public crowd.

Well. Maybe don't put your S&B Vulcano into your backpag and blow up a balloon of vapor with it right inside of a restaurant. But most mobile vapes (incl. the butane driven ones) are just fine as long as you keep things natural and easy. I often already put my wodden Omnivap together with a torch or the ArGo on the table when I arrive (at a Beer Garden, for example) and am absolutely not reluctant to fire it up when the time has come. Never seen people look at me in a suspicious way.

Yeah, man. I have lit up my vapcap woodie (rest in peace) and my M right in front of police, just not close enough they could smell it, which is different when we are outside. My girlfriend gets bugged out. I've used battery powered vapes in the movie theatre, but that really freaks the lady out. lol Never been a problem. Makes going out to movies so good.
Thinking back, the only time anyone I was with noticed anything was the smell from the magic flight launch box. lol That thing is pretty stealth, but it's sooooo slow by my standards now.

I'm surprised that you think the FW5 looks conspicuous. I think it would look just like you're hitting an ecig to anyone who didn't already know what a FW5 is and even then they'd have to be looking closely, I can palm pretty much the whole device, though I wear large gloves. It has basically the same pocket 'footprint' as a dynastash.

Thanks for all your input everyone. I think for me personally, the next step is probably going to be tubo evic. It seems like some of the best quality vapor you can get, fully regulated and easy to use, looks like a hipster ecig. Most of the time I don't go places where I'd be worried about it getting broken, although it might be a bit on the bulky side. If I need something more rugged for gigs I can get a Vapcap M in the future.

Ah its so hard, I keep flip-flopping! I have an Air II which I use a lot at home and I'm really happy with the vapor. I think I want the tubo evic for home use, which is biasing my decision for a portable, although I don't think I can justify it purely in use at home. I need to refine my use case in my head and check out some of the other vapes y'all have mentioned.

The problem with the VapCap is heating it. That's what makes it not conducive for group use because you, the cap owner, has to be the one to do the heating cycle. There is a finesse and learning curve to heating, obviously. So you have to heat and pass to each person.

The best group, out and about vape I have used has been my Pax. Everyone knows how to use it, you can heat it in your pocket, it's quick, 2 to 4 people perfect for a session. All you have to do is teach people to draw real lightly and they will get massive hits too.

The tubo is a bit clunky but it fits in a pocket. Seems like it would work fine for using with friends. You can set cruise for whatever length you like (within reason) or just have friends use it on demand. And you can have extra batteries with you if you want.

Well I'm gonna order an iHeat from @Alan anyway and fit that on probably an evic or other cheap mod, which I reckon will set me at about ~£150, so cheaper than a tubo and then set up for other 510s (would like to try a Splinter Z eventually). Plus I think the build of the iHeat is more rugged and looks less conspicuous than a tubo, and is less bulky.

Alan's work is great. And beautiful. But doesn't it take longer to get than a splinter or tubo? My splinter z came in a week.I 've been on a waiting list for an iheat for some time.
For me the box mod makes my vapes feel more conspicuous which is why I like the tubo. But everything I've gotten from Alan (and I have 3 logs and many wood stems) is wonderful.

(And you can have too many vapes. I do.)
