Wow was hoping the quality improved but seems it did not. Boundless is great on service tho. Kinda sad since this is version 3 Correct?

Yes, V3, all is good, the smell of the silicon dissipates after a few bowls so no quality problem, I am very happy with the unit so far. I doubt it will never taste as good as some of my vapes but it is still good:tup:

@Taz: some people are happy with silicone, some like me can't stand the tiniest amount. Been the same in so many other vape threads, as it's a very common material to use for seals and gaskets etc.

Also some silicone formulations stink more than others. But see even the Ghost MV1 had the same problem recently, so I wouldn't say it's a quality problem.

I could still smell something and have narrowed it down to the silicon absorbing the smell of the dishwashing liquid I had in the ultrasonic cleaner, I did not flush enough and I now actually remember the same smell from a similar incident with a vapcaps o-rings. So my bad.:disgust:
I have the offending items in a sealed container full of bicarb soda after a quick iso wash and hot water rinse...take 2 tomorrow.

@LesPlenty I think it's the silicone gasket that's giving off that bad taste. Try using the wpa and take a few hits through water, you'll see a big difference.

I could smell it on the o-ring on the WPA too, that is what reminded me of the vapcap scenario, should be all fixed by tomorrow.
Had a few hits on the bong and it is very smooth and free flowing but needed to fix the smell, I will stick to plain water in the ultrasonic cleaner for rubber type parts in the future.
That bottom screen falling out all the time is a pain, at least they give you spares.:)

I would say you are right, by the time I had ultrasonic cleaned all the parts and then left them in the sun with a fan blowing on them for most of yesterday, the new car smell was all but gone when I put them in with the carbon. They still had the faintest of smell when I checked them before assembling and using for the first time. I used the standard mouthpiece for 3 bowls temp stepping and I can still taste the faintest of odors that are not hooch cooking:sherlock:
The smell dissipated after 3 bowls but came back when I swapped to the glass mouthpiece so I would say it is the silicon everyone has talked about and not really the unit itself.
I like it so far and I haven't even used it through water yet.
Thats what I've been saying all along!!! Eliminate the silicone, as much as possible, eliminate the smell!!!

Washed the black silicone boots and translucent o-rings in 99.0% Iso for 1 minute, then rinsed with hot water followed by a white vinegar and bicarb wash, another hot watwr rinse and left in the sun with a fan blowing on them has finally kicked the smell.
I have also swapped the bottom of bowl screen for a S&B plenty reducer botton fine mesh screen for a better interference fit that does not keep falling out and also stops smaller debris from entering the heater.
It reminds me of the Plenty in a few areas, especially the draw and blue vapor, hits nice and hard flat out on a bong.

Hey guys, I'm hesitating between a Tera and ArGo to complement my Air (which I like a lot). I want something that's easier to carry along, has better battery life and quicker heating and has replaceable batteries. I don't use water pieces. Since they're about the same price, it's a tough choice. How would you say they compare?

I suggest the Tera but in your description sounds like the Argo fits your style.

Well now I'm in a dilemma. I was offered a refund for my Boundless devices by my vendor due to the issues I had with them, so I bought an Arizer Air II. Very nice device, well built and solid (should be noted it had a funky smell out of the box). But...it absolutely pales in comparison to the performance of the Tera - nowhere in the same league. The Tera is just a much nicer device to use - better airflow, better performance and I find the Air gets uncomfortably hot during a session - the Tera does not. The full convection is so nice - you don't realise how good it is until you use something that does not have it.

I still have to send my Tera in to get fixed under warranty. I am seriously reconsidering my plan to return it. It's just that good despite the issues it's had

How portable would you rate the Tera? And what battery life did you get out of it? Would you say the Tera's vapour is a harder hit? While I love my Air, I wouldn't mind a little more punch so it doesn't take me 40 minutes of vaping to get high.

Yes, the Tera can hit very hard depending on the temp setting. Using it for 40 minutes straight would sack me big time!I use mine with my Ed's TNT stem loaded up-not the bowl.I get 7-8 hits with, maybe,.05grams-probably less! Works amazing!!!

The battery life is good for the way i use it, seems like at least 6-8 sessions before it starts getting low. By changing the temperature you can choose between power or battery life. The portability is honestly not the best due to its weight and size. In a jeans pocket it would protrude quite a bit but it would be fine in a heavier jacket pocket or bag. If you plan to use it heavily it could be worth going for an external 18650 charger and a second set of high-end batteries. I tried using a spare 3 year old pair of batteries and it would die before 10 minutes.

I have both the Tera v3 and the Argo. The Argos definitely easier to carry. The Tera has the quicker heating. The air way restriction is about the same between the two.

Still enjoying my V3 daily. One thing, however, that I encountered again from V2 to V3 is the failure of the USB port connection. In both models, after about 2 months of use and charging thru the onboard connector, a sudden inability to connect occurs.

Funny thing was, since I had the experience with my V2 earlier I was conscientious afterwards each time I plugged in my V3. No matter, it broke anyway just like the first.

Even though I have been using a stand-alone charger for the 18650's for awhile now, it's a royal pain in the ass to not have the native charging ability anymore.

Still love my Tera...

Looks like quality control isn't the best. Have to say it's disappointing to hear about such issues in a device of that price. It looks more and more like I'm gonna get an ArGo instead. Rips may not be as strong but at nearly $300 (Canadian) I'd rather get something durable.

Should be an easy fix with a fine soldering iron. Provided the device is easy to open (don't know about this one but other models were relatively easy)

Boundless sent me a replacement for my first Tera. As much as i tried, I could not get rid of the chemical smell/taste despite multiple cleanings and burn-offs. And I could not get myself to smoke anything out of it because of the taste and smell. Boundless recommended using the Tera to accelerate the smell/taste removal. I couldnt finish a bowl. Chemical smell/taste was too strong.

The replacement Tera already seems to be less smelly out of the box. I'll do the routine multiple cleanings and burn-offs. Will check back in. Hopefully will get some good use out of it soon.

It's recommended to charge the batteries in a external charger and not inside the device.

Did Boundless recommend this?

I use one of these on my Fury2 to save the USB plug;

Might get one for the Tera too, even though I have a new Nitecore SC4, if Boundless did not want us to charge the batteries in the device why have the port?
I am going to run mine hard while it is under it's 3 year warranty.
If/when the USB charger fucks up, just send it back, don't try to solder fix it yourself as that will void your warranty.:myday:

My first guess would be in order to have the ability to update the software.

Second, so if someone was caught out of the house without the charger they would have an "emergency" way to charge.
