@BigJr48 - per my post above the Arizer stem doesn't fit properly in the plastic lid, let alone the chrome piece which is press fit inside the lid. Are you sure it's an Arizer stem that is meant to fit in there?

Ah ok - thanks - I think this clears up a bit of the confustion

The Arizer stem fits snugly in to the rubber gasket. The rubber gasket fits snugly in to the top of the Tera as per @roncruiser 's links - you will note there is no magnetic top attached to the Tera, just the stem in the gasket. I am not a big fan of this method as it puts the rubber gasket directly in to the oven, which gets it hot and may contribute to some of the smells reported.

I prefer to put the stem in to the gasket then insert that in to the top of the inverted WPA, which is also a snug fit, but has the advantage of moving the gasket well away from the oven, limiting the temp shift. I don't get any bad odours with this method.

The Arizer stem definitely does not fit in the chrome glass mouthpiece attachment. There may be another mouthpiece that fits in here - for anyone brave enough to go back through this thread to discover. I know I've seen it mentioned previously

I am unsure if it fits or not. I didn't mean to mislead but I was totally unsure about the fit.

I like the inverted WPA mod the best, but find the airway in the WPA to be restrictive. That narrow passage is tiny!

FYI,

Got this from Boundless:

"We usually recommend conducting a burn off by heating the unit to max temperature. Also, once you pack the bowl it normally takes it completely away but let me know if you think it is an issue.

Just in case the smell does not dissapate quick enough for you, smoke one.

I did a bunch of burn-offs on Concentrate settings.

The smell is mostly gone, but If I leave medicine in it for a while (either pre-packing or not finished with the extraction of the cannabinoids) the "second" time it is VERY unpleasant to vape due to the STRONG plastic taste apparently from the Tera.

As if the medicine absorbed the smell and taste of the plastic or whatever it is.

@sickmanfraud How long have you had the Tera? How many months?

Send it back many of us have them with no issues after a few sessions. Definitely change to the glass MP or do the Arizer stem mod. Better yet get a stem from Ed's TNT. I believe that the source of the smell is the combination of the plastic MP and the silicone seal that holds the screen. Ed's Mp eliminates both!!!

I have a big ziplock bag with a couple of pounds of activated carbon and my ultrasonic cleaner ready for my new unit as well as a couple of VT6 Sony batteries.:tup:

Has anyone gotten sick from inhaling through a Tera device that still has the chemical smell. Either sick or not felt well immediately after use?

Good thing you used an Aussie seller, it could have been worse. My old CFx is still battling along, only ever used on flat out on a bong with my concentrates. Aus vapes should see you right, they charge enough, so they should.:tup:
Sounds like you are not having much luck with Boundless, at least you have a 3-year warranty.

I've been trying to accelerate getting rid of the chemical smell. Slower than expected.

Its definitely coming from inside the device itself. Somewhere along the air path.

In my case, the smell or taste is not coming from the black sealing gaskets attached to the mouth piece attachments.

Letting the Tera by itself sit alone without anything attached, the smell comes back and hangs around the bowl. That's after wiping it down with isopropyl alcohol bowl wipedowns and multiple high temp - burnoffs. Of which I've down these combo isopropyl alcohol and high temp burn-offs multiple times.

Boundless support suggested running a few bowls to accelerate removal of the taste/smell but that's more akin to masking the smell rather than removing. I'm hesitant to inhale any of that junk.

I'm still of the belief that time will eventually remove the smell. With various other ways to help accelerate it's removal.

Have you tried blowing air through the unit while it's running, through the intake on the bottom? I did that when I was doing my burnoffs back when I first got mine, and it seemed to help immensely.

I have done that. Doesn't seem to work as the smell comes right back.

Further investigating the smell and taste...

There are 4 screws holding the bottom plate of the device in place. I removed the plate and found that the inside of the Tera itself has the strongest seemingly unhealthy smell. I've left the bottom cover off in an attempt to air out the inside. I'll leave it uncovered like this a few days. Hopefully it helps.

I use a big ziplock bag with a couple of pounds of activated carbon (charcoal)in it that I use to get the combustion smell out of my wooden vapcaps whenever I accidentally disrespect the click. I will leave my Tera in it overnight when I get it and ultrasonic clean all the other parts with dishwashing liquid mixed in with the water then again with plain water.:tup:

I would say you are right, by the time I had ultrasonic cleaned all the parts and then left them in the sun with a fan blowing on them for most of yesterday, the new car smell was all but gone when I put them in with the carbon. They still had the faintest of smell when I checked them before assembling and using for the first time. I used the standard mouthpiece for 3 bowls temp stepping and I can still taste the faintest of odors that are not hooch cooking:sherlock:
The smell dissipated after 3 bowls but came back when I swapped to the glass mouthpiece so I would say it is the silicon everyone has talked about and not really the unit itself.
I like it so far and I haven't even used it through water yet.:tup:
