Hey all. Picked up a used FF2 recently.

Can someone link me to instructions and/or a vid to take apart and deep clean the unit beyond just the oven, lid, mp?

Thanks!

Did you guys check out the way this guy unclogs the firefly 2 screen. He does a pretty good job of explaining how stupid some of the cleaning ideas out there actually are. Obviously he isn't getting paid by firefly for a sweet review.

Yeah it made a huge difference for mine too. I think just cleaning out the little holes in the metal bowl screen was the most important part.

I found that after applying the ISO and running through several 500 degree burns I use the Giotto's Rocket Air Blaster which works great. Blasting those holes right after the ISO scrub/concentrate level heating seems to help dramatically
................................................................................

Interesting tip on the air blaster. So how much of a "blast" can you do with it? Do you just give it a big honkin' squeeze with one hand? How much pressure /volume does it give??
Could it be a great sub for those air blaster cans/ keyboard sprays?

And to help start a campfire ;)
Thanks

:) ... Yep ... After the usual ISO scrub at Power level 7 I blast away all around the bowl squeezing out a whole bunch of blasts while applying the heat ... Do it till your hand gets tired ... That Giotto Rocket blaster is great

Sorry ... I posted a reply to you a short while ago as a post instead of a reply ... Bottom line is the Giotto has been helping to keep the holes clear since I purchased last winter

Got my air blaster right next to me but I have to co-sign the disassembly route for cleaning your unit. Legit, easy as long as you follow the video instructions and makes it feel like a brand new unit. NO. JOKE!

A shout out to the firefly support team.
Started a warranty process today and all arrows point to a timely response with my claim. I truly don't enjoy the process, but the gal I spoke with today took the awkwardness of it.

Haven't used my FF2 in nearly a year because of poor air flow. That's after sending it back and having them do $35 of nothing that I could tell. Yesterday it rained all day here so I followed the instructions from the video. I don't know if its me or this is just the way it is, but the air flow is better but still not great. Nonetheless, I've forgotten how fast the thing heats up and how good the vapor from the FF2 tastes. I've mostly been using a Crafty, a Fury2, and VapCaps for comparison. With the FF2, the flavor of each strain is just so delicious on the first hit or two. Also a little surprised at how strong the batteries are after a charge even after sitting for a whole year.

I got a ff2 second hand and I'm cleaning it right now but have encountered some problems. I can't pull the bowl out because of resin build up I think, and part of my heating element is very dirty here are some pics https://imgur.com/a/lqcJIIW What do i do?

You could probably either force the bowl out, or hear it up with a hair dryer to loosen the resin.

For the heating element you could probably soak it in isopropyl alcohol to dissolve the resin. Just make sure it’s 95% or 99% iso. You don’t want any water getting on it and potentially causing corrosion.

So i managed to get the bowl out and fully disassemble the thing, but putting the white ceramic (i think ceramic) coil covers in iso is fine? What about the one with the black o ring on it? Same with the thick plastic bowl? my bowl has a lot of build up on it too.

Soaking the ceramic parts in iso is fine. If you can take the o ring off, I would do that before soaking it in iso. Then maybe just wet a paper towel with iso and wipe the rings down.

Ive gone ahead and pulled the trigger on a zebrawood firefly2 this week, should be here friday. i guess i shouldve done more research, but being able to take one or two hits and conserve the rest for later was extremely important. fingers crossed that i dont get a shoddy unit :uhoh:

You'll be happy with it, and if you happen to get a sub par unit, the support team act promptly. I put a claim in a couple weeks ago, I sent it to the provided address with an authorization number.

I expect it'll be arriving soon.

It's not like other vapes but once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy. At times I only want 2 hits. This unit is good for that.

Thats the exact reason i wanted the firefly 2, and the discreetness of being a low odor vape. itll just be for me, in my apartment and when i go away to my parents or whatever. i never really smoke with others, sometimes a pinner joint lasts me 2 or 3 days. ive owned a mflb, an mflb muad dib, a dipper dipstick, an original arizer solo and now this is my foray into the higher end of portable discreet vaporizers. im honestly really excited, i found it on a terrific sale for 244.95 total including rush shipping, had 350 budgeted out. used my spare money on a skunk rogue backpack.

I've just called support again for my second return within a year. This time the unit blinks blue three times and then turns red when it is on the dock. They said it's a known issue and they will repair or replace, but damn. I'm bummed because I feel like I purchased a premium vape (at least pricewise) and it isn't reliable.

Also, I think it's lame that I am expected to pay return shipping for a warranty issue, especially after two failures within the first year. :(

Does anyone know of a similar vap that I might try instead of the FF? I want something that I can hit once or twice and then leave it til next time. FF does everything I want it to - when it works.

The only thing that will kill this with the FF2 is accidental combustion. Be careful with your temp settings. Have something like an odor proof bag to throw it in in case you combust. If you sense combustion stop drawing immediately and put your hand over the mouthpiece hole.

It's happens pretty rarely, but I've managed to combust with every Firefly I've owned (OG and FF2).

Forewarned is forearmed.

That Sucks, im kinda hoping that the special edition colors are a later build that are a bit more reliable. who knows though... i hope it gets better for you.

i bought a skunk bag too, but i vape pretty low temps usually. low temps, long draws. similar to the hit style of the mflb or arizer solor, so thats how i plan to attack this thing. lol :p

Really hoping the team at FF2 come through with my repair soon. It's been a month now. The warranty process started off great but has now lulled me to sleep. Hopefully my case is an anomaly and other warranty seekers were dealt with in a timely manner
:hmm: . FC fam, send mojo...

Update:
Received a concerning email from the FF2 team. I'll wait to see how this pans out before I comment any further.

Man, the FF2 is prime w/concentrates. Amaaaazing flavor, strong, cand a well soaked pad lasts a good 10-15 strong hits before needing more wax. A++++

Any of you experiment with a concentrate pad as a chamber reducer for dry herb? , and how it works for you?

Posting at a 6 from two small hits of TSI FLY resin/reclaim!!

Not sure if I shoulda quoted my last post or not but here goes.:|
The FF2 support team ( Jerad?) got back to me. I big misunderstanding was all. Once my claim reached the technicians the unit was repaired ( thanks) and cleaned ( added bonus). Very pleased to have this vape back in the line up.
Thanks again to the support team. Communication was great.Vape manufacturers should not lose sight of the fact that their support teams play a key role in the company's integrity and longevity. I also learned to have a tad more patience with warranty claims....life is short. Have a spare vape.:myday:

I totally agree with you, I think the FF2 is actually really underrated for use with concentrates.
By the way if you decide to exclusively use concentrates with the FF2 for awhile it's very easy to collect super pure reclaim from the glass using a razor blade before you clean it.

I recently came back to my FF2 after a long layoff, got it all charged and cleaned up and tried it with some concentrate and it was even better than it used to be.

It seems there were a few app/firmware updates I missed out on because now the hits are much more consistent and I don't run into overheating nearly as often or at all now.

It's definitely my favorite concentrate vaporizer :luv:
