Dabpress Rosin Plates

Yessir that’s definitely the dabpress for me! I’m opting for the smaller Dp-pm30r* because although I gotta have it in SS, I won’t be squishing ounces in one go like Mr. Bigtime @gunmetalshark :D ! I’m sure glad he makes videos of his exploits for our entertainment though, so we can watch the flood of sweetness.

@psychonaut & @dabpress.com Thanks for making this high-quality press for the wannabe rosineer who will be just squishing for one person, at a price point that allows everyone to get involved in this hobby!

* what size filter bag diameter would be appropriate for this prepress? I’ll probably just press a bud most times but would want to have the filters for experimentation to see the difference. Thanks!

That is a great offer Roger, for our FC members. Free cylinder pre-press mold and filters to get new rosineers up and running. At $399 this is hardly an investment, this is cheaper than an ounce of top shelf meds in some areas! A rosin press will pay for itself in short order! Why pay someone else to produce your meds when you can do it yourself in minutes?

Just a little bit of a comparison to BHO -

Blasting BHO can be dangerous, in many areas even illegal without a license. It was just the other day in the news I had read about a house fire in Pueblo that was caused by BHO production. Rosin does not have this danger as you are working strictly with low heat and pressure on a unit that is self contained and unable to reach dangerous temperatures even with extended use.

In order to produce BHO you need a fair bit of equipment. Even for just minimal tech extractions, you need a heated vacuum chamber, vacuum pump, blasting tubes, blasting dishes, butane. The cost of all that equipment easily tops $399 and has a distinct disadvantage of not being able to preserve the terpenes without investment in a much larger and expensive closed loop extractor.

The amount of time needed to produce BHO vs rosin for most personal consumers is quite long, 2-3 days in purge versus usable immediately.

Additionally, no residual solvents as nothing is used except heat and pressure. As I was speaking with a kind woman on the phone yesterday, she raised the point of knowing your meds are clean, and having the ability to control the medicine from start to finish is the best part. I couldn't agree more. She had settled on the bj6t35 as previous presses she has owned like the t-shirt style press weren't giving her an even squish on her buds due to how the plates lowered, leaving a portion of the puck thicker on the front than the back.

It's harvest time around the northern hemisphere, enjoy your pressing =)

Still thinking about the value for money that this little monster is, I first thought of the ounce comparison @psychonaut made and my second thought was that one can spend >$400 on quite a few vaporizers, desktop & portable. It’s insane to me that Roger managed to bring another top quality, heavy-duty yet portable AIO press to market in 2018, this time for less than or around the cost of many vapes. I bet lots of good little stoners put a dabpress on their Christmas list this year!

Very nice, now get that 40mm SS Pre-Press up again....i hate my clumsy DIY one :D :D :D

I am sorry that 40mm pre-press mold does not compete.

Nice, Roger! But doesn't it matter for use of drip tech that the angle is more 70 degree than 90?

And what are your plans regarding larger plates for commercial use?

Since we utilize a vertical bottle jack for this unit, we can't get great performance if laying down on the working table.

10 Ton hydraulic ram rosin press is in the process, it will be finished after one month later. We have no plan to build up over 10 ton AIO rosin press. However, rosineers can build a rosin press with dabpress rosin. plates.

Seems perfect for personal pressings, nice job @dabpress.com team!!

Thank you!

Thanks, Roger. I didn't only mean complete presses but larger caged plates sets like 5x7-6x8 for use with 30-50t presses

Thanks for your info.

In fact, our dp-rp257 pro is for commercial use paired with 20-30 ton press. I'm thinking of 4x7" caged plates.

However, like 5x7 or 6x8" caged plates, it is hard to procure proper hydraulic press to be paired with it.

What is your idea?

Best regards,

Roger

Either you use a bigger H-frame press or a strong desktop solution with something like that

As AIO rosin press with 4x7",6x8" sized plates, it is hard to offer a durable frame to be paired with it.

If building such sized rosin plates, I'll think of it.

Perfect, I'm new to pressing but I'm sure just having the top plate temp controlled will be fine.

Just placed my order!

Hello @StoneDog

Thanks for your order. dp-bj3t33 you purchased will send out later today. You will get a tracking number tomorrow. I already attached free combo in the package.

Could you please help me make a product review if could.

Best regards,

Roger

Hey @StoneDog firstly welcome to FC and congrats on finding this thread for these great presses & plates. But I think you’re misunderstanding about the single PID controller as it doesn’t just heat the top plate & then rely on a heat transfer to the bottom platen. Rather the one PID sends power to and controls the temp for both plates. Look at the pictures above more closely and you’ll see that the controller’s cable splits in two and goes to each plate.

While it’s true that most AIOs and plates/controller packages include two controllers so that each plate’s temp can be independently adjusted, I imagine that in reality most folks set both plates to the same temp and don’t see what the benefit would be to set them differently since they’ll quickly stabilise anyway if you’re doing multiple pressings.

If you are new to pressing, I highly recommend reading/scanning through this entire thread because there’s a lot of knowledge and wisdom based on experience here. Some say, “I’m too busy to read!” but in this case it’s an investment that will surely pay off when your new baby finally arrives. You’ll have more success and less questions because most all the FC rosin pioneers hang out and share their experience here.

Just my opinion and suggestion, having not jumped into this game myself yet due to outside evil forces. The day my situation changes, I’m ordering the very same press! Congratulations and good luck!

My friend, I'm sorry, but I think you are misunderstanding him.
For sure both plates are heated but only one is temp CONTROLLED by the one probe as he said.
And probably there is some degrees difference and also probably these difference is neglectable.
But there is no heat stabilizing between the two plates because they never have direct contact in use ;)

For sure!

Inside of pid temp box, only one PID controller, one temp sensor, and one relay, single PID control two heating rods.

Usually, both of heating rods should deliver the same temp to top and botton plates. But, since a little different watts on dual heaters. So it detect 2-3 difference output.

Actually, It doesn't affect result in pressing.

I believe that both @pxl_jockey and @Hogni are correct

The single PID design is sending the exact same power to both heaters based upon what the thermocouple in the top plate is detecting. Because of this you may see a minor difference in temperature using an external thermometer like a javelin probe meat thermometer or k-type thermocouple. I don't really recommend the IR guns if you're looking for accuracy, they tend to vary based on distance and I've verified inaccuracies using multiple different thermometers/thermocouples, YMMV.

In the grand scheme of things, these temperatures fluctuate on the plates surface naturally as the heaters are pulsing heat at the core of the plates. It's not uncommon to measure the temperature on the plates and see it change 1-2F towards the center of the plates, and perhaps even more towards the corners.

I agree that most rosineers are not adjusting both plate temperatures, but perhaps in their situation where their top plate is attached to their shop press, it may be heat draining without insulation layers, so one may need to offset the temperature on the plates by increasing the temp on the PID.

Luckily in the case of these AIO units, they plates are well insulated with 2 layers of material (FR4 & bamboo) which really do a good job protecting the unit from heat draining.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for your help over the last month. I'm purchasing everything for my press this weekend. Can you please consider my list and recommend anything that's missing?

Specifically, psychonaut, in your presses, what are the black X shaped pieces under the bottom of your press? Are they necessary?

The list:

dake b10 (amazon)
DP 3x3 plate kit with premold and 160 micron bags. (should I maybe get a few size bags?) (Also, will these come with the

Will these come with the necessary screws?

I'm looking at parchment papers but haven't decided on one. Is bleach vs non-bleach parchment a consideration?

Is anything missing?

Thanks

Hey @ACitizenOfCo the black steel pieces that rest on the work table come with the Dake b-10 shop press. Those table blocks are necessary as the work table is not a surface without them.

Your list looks great, I would also get a 2" round piece of hardwood like oak or bamboo, maybe 1/2" thick to help insulate the ram on the press from draining heat from the top plate. The mounting hardware is included.

If your pressing flower you can use 37u-160u, or no filter at all. It depends on the consistancy youre looking for. The lower microns will make some batter/budder consistancy often with flower.

As to parchment, I've been happy with reynolds. I've heard good things about Kirkland brand (costco). Many use RAW brand. I recommend reynolds, it's fairly durable and easy to find.

You got a dab rig and nail? Dab tools, dab containers. Hygrometers and 62% two-way humidity packs are ever helpful for me.

Might wanna grab some silicone candy molds or 00 capsules if you're into edibles, real easy to make edibles with rosin.

25u filters or 25u SS mesh if you want to experiment with THC-a isolation.
