I still don`t think my fan is very loud, I do have an exhaust fan going directly above that drowns it out though maybe, might have to do a decibel check.:D(that is me atm, too many double barrel SJK Vapcaps)

@Hackerman trials... He also often shares pics to show us what he is doing
However as @LesPlenty said in this case he has not and one would be useful
Cool?
Cool......

Did you simply cut the wires to power the fan?

No problem bud. What would you like pics of?

And, no, I didn't cut the wires. It just unplugs from the circuit board.

I don't have anything apart right now but let me know what you need pics of and I'll get ya some. ;)

A picture pointing to the adjustment screw for the sensor sensitivity would be nice!
And @felon167inc no one has ever accused @Ricardo of being smart, my wife is quite intelligent(school teacher) but says I may as well be talking Japanese when I start on about anything electrical so we have to be patient and spell things out as simply as we can, anything more than 12v and I am a simpleton too, in fact I feel quite simple right now.

Here is a shot of the circuit board with the adjustment screw pointed out.

I also showed the fan cable plugged in and not plugged in...

Quiet here recently. Just to report that my unit is still going strong. Have to switch back to flame for a trip to the mountains this weekend....I'm guessing that spinning the M is like riding a bike but lordy, the IH is convenient :leaf:

I'm glad to hear that since I'm probably going to get one. How many FCers do you think are using them?

1 less atm, mine just melted itself, a nice little puddle of plastic where the top hat used to be. seller said they had some with faulty solenoids and is replacing it for me for free. I really like the SJK IH, shits on a lighter for ease of use at home and you can heat more than 1 cap at a time, a handy feature for bonging along.

One is a DIY portable and one is a factory made desktop. Tough to compare them since the serve such different markets.

One thing I will say is that I seem to like the thin wire, multi turn coils better than the thick wire coils everyone uses. At least, I think that's the reason.

I get a WAY 'deeper' heat up with the SJK than I do with any of the 'thick' coils models. I have 3 of Pipe's heaters and I have made 4 or 5 myself (from that same driver) plus, I have 3 of the SJK. In every case, the SJK gives me way better hits.

It is a little slower to heat than the thicker coil models so maybe it heats 'deeper' or something.

Whatever the case, I get 2 good hits from every heat up with the SJK and only one from any thick coil model I have tried.

Also, I totally despise, cramming the cap onto the tip. I have 2 tips that I can't even use like that. The caps stick. I do have 3 or 4 others that do work but it still seems to cram the cap on too tight and further restricts the hit. I have a very light hand and I'm not pushing the switch any harder than needed to activate it. I am simply more demanding than the fan boys who love that method of activation. To each their own. I totally do not like that method of activation.

With the SJK I like the fact that the proximity sensor turns the unit off and on. No buttons to press or caps to cram.

That's just two things. Coil difference and activation method.

I really like my portside mini but this is my one complaint. All my Ti tips do the same as yours where the cap get's pushed down too deep so it not only restricts the air flow but they're a real bitch to get off. . . now I'm just using it with my sandblasted and 2018 M.

So I just ordered DDave's Complete VapCap Water Wands Kit with the 2018 M and the Showerhead 14mm Water Pipe. My first vape!

Next I'm ordering the SJK. Thanks to everyone in this thread for saving me from having to mess with lighters. If I hadn't found out about the SJK, I probably wouldn't have gotten a vapcap.

Good news: my SJK arrived today from Amazon.

Bad news: it came with a Euro plug. I am in the US. The box contained the heater with the insert but nothing else.

Since it only has 2 prongs, does that mean it's not grounded? Any concerns about that?

Do I need just an adapter or a converter? What rating? Anybody have a link?

The box says 110V.

Thanks!

They all have that same horrible E-plug. All 3 of mine came with an equally shitty US adapter.

The very first thing I did was change the plug.

First thing..... look on the bottom and make sure the sticker says 110v. If it says 220v you are SOL. If it is 110v just swap the plug. No soldering or anything required. Under $2 at Home Depot.

Here is the post I made when I changed mine...

I went to replace my cord today and I realized that the cord I was going to use was no better than the existing. In fact, the existing cord is not all that bad. In addition, the existing 'universal' plug they have isn't all that bad. Nice molded plug. Decent strain relief. Good grip. So, it became obvious that it's the piece of shit adapter they include that is really the pits.

So, I decided to simply replace the plug and see how it worked.

I used a simple plug from Home Depot. About $2.

Common is blue and goes on the silver terminal.

Bing bang boom... new plug. At least this one fits nicely into the socket. I'm not huge on screw terminal connections but it sure doesn't get any easier.

I'll let you know if I have any problems.
