Yeah that's why you want to puck it into a solid piece of hash first before trying to really juice it. I usually try and squeeze it a bit once its in the bag to suck up extra room where it could quickly expand. There's a Pure Pressure video where they apply a bit of pressure, then release completely, and then ease back into it. Blow outs with hash definitely suck, if you can get a nice little brick going it should be a bit easier to juice in my experience.

@invertedisdead Okay, I'll try that next time. I did squish it into a huge brick beforehand, but obviously had to break it up to get it into the bags. I'll try forming it more in the bag. Would it be worth trying bottletech with cylinder pre-press with hash? Or maybe investing in something like a 2x4 prepress for horizontal squishes like I was doing?

I've done bottle tech hash squishes but I like to do square pucks for hash and do directional folds. I like bottle tech for flower. I don't think it works as well to go that tall vertically when pressing hash.

The 2x4 could be good for hash, load the bag and put it in there and give it a nice pre-press. I have the 2x4" but not any hash on hand or I'd try it for you lol.

I hope ya'll are getting yer squish on this weekend, I've got out of town company so discreetly hitting some distillate in my pen and in desperate need of squishing some daytime meds! Dosing some 50mg rosin cannacaps in the meantime, keeping medicated.

Thanks for yer hash pressing expertise @invertedisdead, I owe ya a dab one of these days!

@invertedisdead Thanks again for your insight, you're a wealth of information as always! Fortunately I have much more material on the way so I'll get it right eventually... maybe. :science:

On a related note, @psychonaut do you happen to know when the 2x4" pre-press molds might be back in stock? I know there's a lot going on at the moment and I'm by no means in any rush, just curious.

I owe you three!

And those cannacaps are no joke!
Those disty pens are just so easy to hit EVERYWHERE! Instant convert, rosin at home, pen on the go, it's a no brainer!

Only experience I have with Black Label paper is trying to find the stuff.
I've not seen anyone in UK/EU with the 10cm squares of 55lb :(
I think ideally I'd like the 5"x9"

Thickest paper I've managed to find was 70gsm, which is 60gsm paper with a 10gsm coating and it comes in 25m rolls, just over 1m wide.

I think 55lb is the equivalent of about 100gsm

Following our convo about this topic, I found this retailer for BL in Germany.
They also have parchments from Oil Slick and Raw in stock. Perhaps worth a comparison?

Caught up on this thread and now I need a press. I live in Denver and am sick of the crap dispensaries sale but it’s so damn cheap. Every time I get rosin it’s all I want but it’s expensive in the store. My regular place just got bought out and is horrible now. I only used them for concentrates. My buddy grows and I have access to some of the best flower on earth. He has an amazing green thumb and keeps trying to give me equipment to grow myself even. I want a 10 ton all in one because I go through a lot. I can’t decided to either pull the trigger on the SS or wait for the bottle jack 10 ton coming out next month? I don’t really have space for a floor model and my garage gets below freezing for days in the winter, which I assume would not be ideal and generally suck...no doubt I want a press from Roger!

Also, if I went with the Strongway pump with gauge, would I need a special adapter? I saw it was mentioned the standard coupling was going to change at some point?

Welcome!

In your situation if you dont have the space for a shop press I'd suggest any of our all in one units depending on how much you plan on pressing.

The 10 ton bottle jack unit will take up less space as the pump with the hose is a lil bulky if you're in tight quarters. The hr10t35 is a really capable unit but if you're interested in drip tech it'd be worth the wait.

The coupler that attaches the strongway pump to the hr10t35 cylinder can be purchased from grainger, the current fitting is a NPT 3/8". The strongway is a 1/4" ZG male. We will be including the strongway compatible coupler with our hydraulic cylinder presses sometime later this month.

The cost on any of the bottle jack units is going to be the more affordable way to go, if overall price is a point.

Awesome thanks for the clarification I understand now fully the hose connection.

Man this is a hard choice to make. I love the SS press with the strongway to free up a hand pressing but I love the ideal of the drop tech! We’ll see if I can hold out on the upcoming release or get the SS haha!

I just bought some rosin earlier that looked so magical but it was almost like someone pressed it from a plant that wasn’t proplerly flushed or something. Tasted like vitamins or chemicals? Wished I saved the money for my press! Ever since recreational has taken over it feels like medical is a second thought and I won’t pay $90 a gram on the rec side!

We will have both bottle jack and cylinder hydraulic presses with drip-tech, so if you have a preference (separate pump with gauge vs bottle jack), both will be covered.

If you are close to a Maggie's Farm dispensary (CO Springs/Pueblo area), I've squished probably 15-20 different strains from them, all clean green organic certified flower, all but a couple were great yielders. I can't recommend them enough.

I had a nice golf ball sized nug that was given to me last Easter from my adopted son, the rosin it made was so horrible tasting it went straight into the garbage. No clue how the buds were grown but I am guessing like you mentioned, wasn't cared for properly.

Awesome man! It’s probably better I wait a bit to buy one anyways. We are in the starting stage of a kitchen remodel, which I’ll need one for too...I guess haha. The wife is pumped but always the budgeter!

I can always make a trip down to the Springs for some bud and get some bbq from Rudy’s too! I actually stopped by my old dispensary last night and the manager I’ve become friends with over the years gave me a list of places he personally loves. He said the new company that took over Saturday stuff is horrible when he saw it at their other location. It’s a bittersweet end for the employees and customers!

There’s just so many options it’s overwhelming to find a new place. I used to blast my own but it’s illegal to do in Denver nowadays. Bho is also probably horrible for you. So I’ve been eyeing pressing for probably 5 years but it wasn’t something possible on the scale I consume for the cost of the machinery I needed/wanted. Thanks to Roger I can now seeing it being something I can and want to do. Also to get the results I want!

We'll have a press in both you and your wife's budget when you're ready =) You're right on the BHO, but it's illegal to produce in the entire state of Colorado without a license. There's some great BHO out here but there's just something special about producing your own oil, a level of intimacy we all deserve.

One thing on the AIO units, you can just move it around so dont need a separate rosin press in your kitchen, just need an appropriate work space. A 2x4' table top works good for the hydraulic cylinder presses with pump, 2x2' would be minimal, all the bottle jack units fit on 2x2'. The stainless steel unit would be better suited for kitchen use as the bottle jacks are shop equipment.

Just make sure you bring a med card with you to the springs, otherwise gotta hit up the maggies an hour south in Pueblo. Great buds though, seriously I can't recommend them enough. I was getting 20-25% yields at 200F on most of their sativa dominant cultivars. Their Strawnana varieties are exceptional, and the cuvee is very unique (mint cherry), the DJC and scouts honor are also very good. Truth varieties if you like some jamacian landrace.

Yeah I miss making my own oils. I haven’t in a couple years. I used to make some awesome stuff before there was live resin. I didn’t realize...maybe I did but forgot, that it was statewide. I’m just used to Denver’s crazy rules.

I don’t leave home without my med card though. No reason not to have one if you like to dable in the finer things Colorado has to offer! I’ll have to head down and check it out soon for sure. I haven’t been down there in awhile too! I think last time was about a year ago to take the Jeep out on some trails near the Broadmoor.

I hope I can hold out on a press for a bit. I might pull the trigger on that SS one if I get a wild hair! I don’t even know if I would use the drip trek but it sounds awesome!

Thanks you for the help and I’ll be watching this tread for sure!

Also this is that stuff that taste gross but looks great and smells awesome!?!?

What are you using for a vaporizer? Have you tried lowering the temperature of your vape?

Oh man I got issues...I have so many things I vape with regularly. My go to is a nectar collector and what I have tried this stuff on. I have maybe 5 of them...all from Utah/Colorado. I also use and love the honey badger daily. I also have two enails paired with a couple size mobius bubblers. Gotta have one for each floor of the house. I know I got problems haha. I’m not much into skillet vapes I have a older version of the donut one everyone loves here but haven’t used it in awhile. You should see my coffee table some years on 420 if I manage to get it off work! I’ll just bust out everything I can find haha. But to answer you, yeah I’ve tried it low temp. I think it was just a bad place I got it from. Sorry to go off topic!
