@KeroZen , Dude...dope! Love it man. Will respond with better reply later, power is out and I'm on the house battery.

Little update. Nomads are coming together nicely!

After hearing about how some of you liked the magnetic buttons, I had to give it a go. I made a test button with magnets and oh man, it's nice!

Much less resistance than the spring. It's practically effortless to press and hold down. So I think we've got a solution for a lighter press weight here.

It's also a tad smoother feeling, and will never wear out.

May I buy this new button for my #017 Nomad?

Soooo, @Dan Morrison , any chance round two is getting the magnetic button :brow:

I'm getting an itchy trigger finger, and it's not from spring tension!

I'll be changing all the spring buttons to magnets for the second batch. After feeling the magnet it's hard to go back to springs!

I think that it will actually be a good one-sized-fits-all solution...instead of having different resistances available. The lighter springs just don't work as nicely as the magnets.

While the high resistance of the stock spring is good for travel..and not accidentally pressing the button... I think that it's maybe a problem that doesn't really need to be fixed. I always lock the device in the OFF position when I'm travelling anyhow...

Power is still out here...supposed to be out till tuesday..uhg, valuable shop time down the drain! We had a pretty intense wind storm on Friday.

@Xelatsok, Of course!

I have made slight improvements to the heater modules as well, the standard heater is a tiny bit faster to heat up...while still putting out the same wattage, the high power is the same.

Hi Dan, guess your missing power doesn't stop you from working ;)

Regarding pre-orders. I know there are a lot of people who have done it but most of them don't know their ranking. Could you please publish the current open pre-order list - or send each pre-orderer his ranking no. :ugh: - and perhaps your current estimate how long you'll need for a batch of 25 in the future after first delays are caused of eliminating teethings?

I think it's less for satisfaction curiosity than more for a better planning of funds. Probably there are not so little here who have to do so.

I have not asked because I don't want to bug busy busy @Dan Morrison. I don't want to be the annoying customer who bugs him.

However, I would LOVE to know my ranking, largely for my mental satisfaction of course...and just to know, because a long wait is never as painful as long as I know how much time to prepare myself for.

However, I'd ALSO love to know for better planning of funds...as I also have a constant fear of not having the available funds when Dan calls my number and, because of that, being caused to have to wait till the next batch. Yes, of course I should just have several hundred set aside for this...but I'm not a very wealthy person at this point in my life, and that kind of money is hard to hang onto for a large portion of time.

Here's some info on my current ordering process/mailing list for the Nomads:

First, it's not really a wait list in the traditional sense. There is no individual order, no one has a number or place in line.

Instead, I place people in a group. These groups are in order, from oldest to newest. The oldest groups of people are exhausted before I move onto the newer ones.

It roughly puts people into line, based on when they were added to the list, but doesn't go so far as to put each individual person in order.

This system seems more efficient for me. When you give people specific places in line, it can become time consuming and confusing to later track down and confirm their orders. It's understandable that many people will want to change their places in line, or bail, or fall out of communication. Having people in groups makes it much easier to move people around, it's just a lot more flexible.

This method works better with the ever-changing nature of my work, and the vape market in general. I can't guarantee anything beyond a few months... my products will always be evolving. This is different than, say, guitar making...where it would be much easier to use a more traditional style of wait list, complete with down payment to secure your spot.

When it's time to fill a batch of orders, I email everyone on the oldest group list. I relay all of the updated product/pricing information, and ask who is interested in placing an order. If there is more demand than I can fill, I pick names at random to fill the 30 or so spots I have in each batch. Anyone who did not get picked, automatically gets added to the reserve/cancellation list, and has a guaranteed spot in the next batch.

If anyone says that they would like a spot... but for whatever reason want to wait, or can't afford it at that time, it's no problem to add them to the reserve list, and they will automatically get a spot in the next batch. So please don't stress out about having the funds available right away.

I'm pretty flexible, so if you need to wait a couple weeks for the next payday, not a problem there either. Everyone's situation is considered, and I try my best to accommodate individual situations and arrive at a solution that's fair.

To give some spots to people who were added later, I give out about 5 spots (out of 30) every batch to people on the newer lists. To fill those spots I pick names at random. This is an attempt at giving people added later on an element of hope...while trying to not piss off the early birds.... I'm still not sure if it's a good way to go..but I'm trying it out.

There's currently about 300 people on the lists for the Nomad, but remember that a lot of these people will give up their spots, for whatever reason. So the list is not as long as it may seem.

I don't tie forum names to emails, so if anyone wants to know what group they are part of, and when to expect to be emailed, just send me a PM with their email and I will let ya know!

I am slowly making changes to this system to make it work better... more efficiently.. more fair. It's evolving as I go, so if anyone has any comments or criticisms I am all ears!

Also, as I get faster at these batches, the wait time should go down significantly, and the lists can be kept a bit more fresh, that's my goal. Currently I am able to produce a 30 unit batch in about 2 months.

Oh shit , just got an email from Dan, chose my heater module for nomad # 36. !!!! Expecting delivery end of the month or so.... doesn't matter cuz I'm one step closer to having nomad here with me. Cheers! D.
Me too
I'm glad Dan's decided to go with the magnetic button, seems like a good move .

He's going to try something different with my sleeve, and I can't wait to see how it goes (I'll report here once I know more).

How have batch 1 owners been enjoying their Nomads, any more reports?

Low heat = better taste due to lower risk of charring too fast, but requires some technique to slow down your draw if you want to get consistent hits when the battery voltage starts to get low (after 2nd bowl for me) Hard to use while walking.

High heat = easier to get big clouds every time but requires constant technique with trigger timing otherwise you'll char the load too fast or worse combust. You should never miss the beat once if you want to preserve taste for the whole load. Easier to use while walking.

Above remarks only apply to dry use. No idea about water filtration but I imagine the high heat would be better for high airflow / giant rips.

I went ahead and ordered the low heat module but I'm wondering if I should get both. For those of you who have the high heat one or both could you post your experience while its not too late for me to add the high one to my order.
If you can afford it get both.
Otherwise how will you ever know?

I've ordered both as I definitely would always wonder what the other was like no matter if I loved the one I got.

The general cycle I've been going through with using my heater modules is I'll for the most part stick with the low heat module. Every now and then I'll go to the high heat module to play with it for a while. After a few bowls of using it I always marvel at how easy the extraction is with it and curse myself for not using it more often. A few more bowls after that I tend to almost always accidentally combust with it and then curse myself for using it and switch the low heat module back in, rinse and repeat. It's a vicious cycle.

Heh so true! Sometimes you get wonderful and effortless sessions with the high power module... until you screw up and get the impression your load is cached after only 3 small hits, when you know it's clearly not... it's just that it's roasted and the taste is spoiled!

:disgust:

On the other hand it's wonderful with the low power module... until you realize you've been just sucking lukewarm air for five minutes and get little to no vapor. So you insist, thinking you're drawing too fast, but nope, you still struggle... then you remove the cell and realize it's well below 3V on the tester!
