Brilliant Cut Grinder

Ramahs

Fucking Combustion (mostly) Since February 2017
We'll just have to make small batches of each colour at first to see which ones will sell the best. It should be interesting to see what people choose. We'll adjust accordingly after that.

Right now, we're still optimizing the teeth to improve the speed of flow-through on the fine grind. We've made a bunch of new prototypes and learned more about tooth design. The new teeth are better and the grind is smoother. The new prototype grinds faster and it doesn't leave much material behind while at the same time we're not sacrificing the grind consistency or quality. We'll make an update soon showing them. After we nail this, we'll do another beta round and then start selling.

Yeah, the purple came out a little light. We definitely will shoot for a deeper purple next time. We weren't happy with the gold either. It needs to be lighter for sure.

Thisd grinder gets so much love here, seems to be quite perfect... but with looking at the pictures again, i asked myself if adding some texture to the sides may increase grip?
Probably this was already discussed, so feel free to ignore...

Have a great day!

It just doesn't seem to be necessary following the meaning of betas. But if some grip should be added I suggest a hammered texture profile of the middle plate. Could be a nice pairing with the brilliant cut though I think the slick optic is pretty fine. But perhaps give it a try just for testing?

I thought similar, but as the lower sections are fixed together, there's good torque in both directions available.
The teeth design is meant to avoid pinch points, which is what many grinders suffer from when they get stuck/jammed.

The smaller size and the smooth finish is perhaps what I'll be most critical about when it comes time to testing, but it sounds like I don't have much to worry about much

lazylathe

Almost there...
Every time I read about new teeth designs for the plates and more development on the fine grind, I get super excited!
I love using my V1 Beta fine grinder. I also love that I am among the few to own a Diamond Cut Grinder!
It is still the only grinder on deck, along with the coarse which provides a perfect grind for my Venus Helios!

I cannot wait to get my hands on the newest version for testing and feedback!!

@Doktor Dub, can't answer your question about EU availability, but they will be ready for sale after this:

So then why you pushing them @Doktor Dub ? Dang man, I mean, wot? :D J/K, you know I love you! Have you’ve been following this thread since its inception, or just recently? I can’t remember because well...:freak:

I’ve been wanting to publicly thank @lazylathe for for giving this innovative design its own thread rather than having buried it in the Grinder thread. As it’s not like the other grinders it needs its own place.
The BCG deserves all the special attention because of its forward-thinking design and the love put into the manufacture of each piece. Everyone reading this, if you haven’t, check out their IG. GFL just established the new standard for the grade of material used in a premium grinder. All of this is my opinion, not fact.

Could one of those fabulous people who are lucky enough to have a prototype, run a test for me please? I’m most interested in the fine and medium plates but hey if you wanna give it a go with the coarse plate, knock yourself out by all means! :science:
My typical grind is ~.5g in one go, sometimes more  but I tend to always weigh that amount & grind often if required. I get pretty good quality stuff but it’s not super sticky outside & not top-shelf by any means*...not feeling sorry for myself, I just wanted to give y’all as much info as possible for a baseline. If this has been done, forgive me. I’m not operating at 100% :haw: capacity atm, obviously.

So Betas or GFL tell me just how does the BCG handle what I consider to be a microdose amount?
Do the herbs attain the proper consistency for the respective plate before falling through?
I almost assumed the BCG can handle a less than full load, but then realised I didn’t have to because I have cool friends who might ease my manufactured misgivings. Tell me I’m worried about nothing!

*run through a drum to collect the goodies on the outside. :disgust: I hate the game, don’t wanna play anymore! I do hope to remedy my situation since I don’t foresee anything changing in England anytime soon.
:peace: + :leaf: my compadres!

Grinders for Life

Grinder Manufacturer
I'm hoping we can make this fact thru agreement soon....without pushing of course!

@Grinders for Life , how much has going "swappable" plates changed the grind results?

After changing to a "swappable" design, it was a struggle to get the grinds right. We had to go back to the drawing board and design teeth that could achieve uniform fine, medium, and coarse grinds in an interchangeable system. We tried many different teeth designs. We managed to develop a new tooth design that hits the mark on all of the grinds. It's better and smoother than ever.

The beta testers should receive the beta grinders in a week or two. We've made a lot of new prototypes and the design has evolved since we manufactured those beta grinders. The new tooth design is quite different. We weren't happy with the beta fine plate. It just took a bit too long to grind and it sometimes wasn't able to clear the grinding chamber fully. It just didn't meet our standards. We are reluctantly sending them out, but the feedback on other aspects of the design will be invaluable. We'll send out another batch of the new design to the beta testers so they can see the difference for themselves. It will be nice for the beta testers to have 2 versions to compare.

We feel the new design is pretty close to being fully tuned if not fully tuned already. The new fine plate is superior to the one that's in the beta test grinders. It produces a nice fine grind in under 20 seconds without leaving any material in the grinding chamber. The grind is similar to the Gr8tr fine plate. There is no need for the upside down trick unless you want an even finer grind. There is no need to poke material through the holes, because the holes in our fine plate don't clog. It is good for both large and small amounts of herb.

We think we hit the mark with the new version, but we'll be testing it hard for the next week to see if we can see any more flaws. We'll make a new batch after this testing, and we'll be giving them to all the current beta testers.

Thanks FC for all the input and feedback. You'll helping us make this the best it can be.

Stay tuned for pictures of the new design.

That was the perfect answer! I love the Gr8tr fine plate results, but it's a rough one to work with on a daily basis. I can't wait to try these!

The efforts you are making to ensure a top shelf grind are mighty impressive G4L :clap::rockon::clap::rockon:

I'm curious aboit how you make it possible to change just the middle section for a different grind?
I assume the tooth pattern, and maybe shape are the same on all 3 plates so that they all match the unchanging top section?

Is grind size controlled by hole size and pattern alone?

I'm really digging the simple polished silver finish BTW, very classy when it's done right like this.
A deep red with a silver centre section, with maybe black and red for the other two grinds is what I'm picturing

I eagerly await more community feedback from your testers.
I also look forward to seeing what the new tooth shape is

TBH, it caught my eye that your fingers slipped a couple of times when you were rotating it on the side of the lip. I didn't know if was because the finish it slick, thus slippery, &/or because the lip is, or at least looks from that vantage point, narrow. How about a vid. showing the grinding from an angled side perspective while using both hands?

Thanks @szai for another great video testimonial! I appreciate any new developments in this thread and keep going over the last couple pages as we’re all kinda waiting for the latest round of betas to get to the testers. I keep coming back to the praise for the coarse plate from trusted board members and I absolutely cannot stand it. I just hate it because now I most likely won’t be able to be content with just the fine plate.

If I cave and get those two plates, you know that I’ll forever wonder why GFL needed to also make the medium plate. So I’ll need to acquire that too. At least I can buy them separately! :) Or all at once! :brow:

@Summer instead of bossing @szai around, why don’t you make a video showing what you want to show? Ain’t you one of them there tester folk too? Why are you slacking on the video demonstrations? :haw: JK!!!
