Is anybody one-hitting with this thing? If so I’d love to hear the strategy. I’m very cautious about how to ride the wave because I’ve definitely combusted with the glass heater in the past.

Any known tried-and-true alternatives to the 7th floor water pipe adapter? My girlfriend knocked the bong over this morning and the stock wpa was the only casualty. She feels awful about it and is insisting on replacing it but I know the $30 plus shipping is more than she can really afford right now. I'm hoping to find a cheaper alternative I can convince her to get instead.

Here is one I use in random rotation with the stock bowl. It is a bit smaller and the heater is closer to the screen, which tends to sit concave/bulged down slightly. The bowl is also a little lower than the stock bowl so the heat is funneled through it a little more although I do find that the load tend to get stuck together more in this bowl and require a stir after a few hits.

I usually like to stir the stock old as well but it is easier to keep the load looser from the start and be able to shake it up for longer before I feel it is necessary cirstea it properly.

So both bowls actually perform slightly differently I can use a lower heat and a smaller load with the smaller bowl and get instant dense vapor and generally a faster extraction, with more need to stir/aggregate. I like to mix it up.

This is UK obviously but you may be able to find this same adapter elsewhere. Something to look for anyway but there was also reports of a member here swearing by another bowl from a different vaporizer only I forget which one now.

Was it something like "all on one bowl"? I will try and find it and get back to you on it. Hang tight!

I was waiting to post about it, but I found a bowl similar to what LabPong found - http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-elev8r-from-7th-floor.25855/page-22#post-1220465
Not sure if that's what you were talking about, Alexis.
I bought it at a local headshop for $9 after visiting about 8 different places - most places didn't have any, and the ones that did - there was a ring around the midsection.

Mine has a bigger exit hole than the standard elev8r WPA and probably isn't quite as short as his, so the heating time was about the same. I have only used it a couple times, and I might be able to move the screen a little higher, more testing needed.

Sorry about your glass casualty, Spelaeus. If you end up ordering from 7th Floor, I just saw that Vapelife X has a 15% off code - VAPELIFEX I'm about to use it for a new FlavorDisc, sic clip, and screens.

EDIT: That was not what I was expecting Alexis...although I thought of this adapter when I saw a bubbler with a male end on it at a headshop - although I think it was 14mm.

This vape still intrigues me for some reason! Even more so now that they quartz heaters are available. (i think...)
Does a 16mm coil fit the heater?
Can you use it like the SV3, so the heater part is always hot and ready for the next hit?

Not to keen on torching as there are too many variables involved and i like consistency!
What are your thoughts? I know you have had one for a while now!

You can indeed do these things lazylathe. I have not yet done it as my pid is back home in Alaska but many people treat it just as you describe, much like you’d use the sv4 or modded sv3. Way less bulky too!

On one of @VCBud’s livestreams he demonstrated successfully and I believe he was the first to make it happen.

Additionally folks, I have a separate tip I wanted to edit in. Maybe some already do this but I’ve not seen it mentioned yet. Since I primarily like to use the elev8r through water (not sure why as this bad boy is smoooooth when used correctly), I try to get the most out of my heat cycles because I’m a cheap bastard. I’ll take the elev8r wand and dome it over the elev8r after heating and while draw I’ll go further by plugging the mouthpiece of the wand with my finger. With this I find that the heater stays warm for one or two extra rips from my bubbler. I use the k-clips with the heater so the deal between the two 18f joints is not tight by any means and does not interfere with the draw, it just gives a little insulation.

Thanks for the answer!! That is awesome news.

Would the glass or quartz heater be better for coil heating or are they pretty much the same when using a coil instead of a torch?

I’m curious of how you guys use this vape. I usually put 0.4g and heat it up through a bong once every hour (~2-3 hits per heat up). How often do you guys hit? Sometimes I’ll heat it up twice (with ~two or three hits in each time I heat it up) and get good for an hour, but I’d like to get more medicated than that. It’s not that I don’t get medicated, but I’d like to see how far I can go. Is my tolerance too high or should I try to vape the 0.4g all at once (how? I don’t know)?

Anyway, I’m loving this vape, through a bong it hits sooooo smooth I can’t even feel it, the flavor is the best possible, even at the end of a session and it rips constantly big clouds. From here now, there’s no better, just different vapes.

I’d classify my vapes, If easy of use it’s not a concern:

1. ELEV8R; 2. Milaana; 3. Omnivap XL; 4. Sticky Brick Jr; 5. Mighty.

FIY, it’s not that the Mighty is bad, not at all, it’s just that it’s no better than the previously mentioned vapes, but it’s still an awesome vape.

:)Note to all- the following is very personalised advice on this vaporizer for @lazylathe so please nobody read into my apparent criticisms too much.

Hey Lazy my most excellent and valued FC amigo, real sorry to keep you on hold lol! Gosh it isnt such an easy answer for you and I have been thinking hard what to tell you.
But knowing you and how you like to vape with the devices you like best, I have never been confident you would like the coil setup. It is an amazing vape experience no question and I would not want to actually discourage anybody from such a worthwhile experience.

Still the best taste I have known from any vaporizer when dialled in. EVO honestly didnt get close.
And the Elev8r truly is unique, not just for myself (which is the most amazing apsect of this) in how it can be hit very hard and stay as smooth, or smoother and less aggravating than any other heavy hitter that it can be compared to. So it has some very good features.

And it has been my daily driver along with the Omnivap the whole of 2018. The Elev8r basically satisfies that need/desitre for powerful hard hitting effects and Im not really missing anything in terms of level of medicatedness next to the others top desktops.

What I personally really dont like about this coil setup though is the finnicky awkwardness of it and havong to wait around to unload, reload, stir, load check etc. The biggest downside to the coil is how the sick clip gets too hot to touch as the coil is resting on it. Which means at least a 2 or 3 minute wait before it is cool to touch.

I have some silicone finger guards now which I can slip on to remove the clip any time, but is still a fiddly pain.
And I really like to inspect and stir my load as soon as vapor begons to decline.
Of course, the Elev8r is intended to be "shaken, not stirred" and yes this can work very well, but it is extremely material and consisitency dependent IME as to how much this will work and how much the herb can gum together and need a stir for more complete vaporisation after a point.
I was really hoping to switch to the Digi Herbo for my DD for sheer ease of use, loading, unloading, just going about my medicating at my own pace, not dictated by cool down times.

Another possible huge factor for you- there is a wait time after dropping coil on to reach set temp again. Not long, maybe a minute. But all in all it is a very far cry from dropping ypur 0.05 into the cold Flowerpot bowl, heater on, hit, clear, unload, reload, chill, anay momwnt you want as long as the bowl isnt stuck or too hot (reducers anyway).

Some have actually used the coil differently though- a snug fit around the heater and no sick clip. Then just lift on and off easily. I did consider this but no way do I want hat hot coil and heater just resting on the bowl 365 days a year, only a 5 mm ledge to keep it on place.

For my comfort, that clip has got to be on there. But with your own vape station and setup Lazy, this might actually work for you and still be safe.
Yes the 16 mm coil is the one you want. It is too narrow for the glass heaters and needs to be stretched open a good bit. But the quartz heaters are narrower so it should be an easier adjustment.

Personally I would probably go with quartz. I do plan to get another coil to fit the quartz. I torched a load last night of our amazing Night Queen to use the quartz and holy I overdid it a bit.

I blew out easily the largest hit I have had for months. I tried to hold it in, it was impossible. So I chuffed out big cloud after big cloud, rebreathing each time. I swear it was like exhaling 7 or 8 big hits.

And it absolutely wrecked me. But with such a relatively low level of irritation.

So Lazy I am torn as to how to influence your thinking. A big part of me wants to keep quiet and let you just get the vape and explore it for yourself if only for the experience of the amazing flavour and purity and smoothness. But you are a unique vaporist when it comes to vaping requirements and preferences in terms of your style being so locked down in a neat predictable rhythm.
Regarding microdosing capabilities I absolutely do not consider this vaporizer to be very compatible that way- it will never be as effective convenient or efficient with small loads as your other devices and I just can't see you wanting to use it this way, not least of all because what I have described above regarding accessing the bowl to stir, empty and reload.

I am a self confessed macrodoser. I use loads of 0.2 to 0.4 mostly, I am not aiming to finish the whole load in a set number of hits. I just focus on getting good vapor production that medicates me fast, but I want to make sure the vapor keeps flowing for a good while with a little shake before I need to get into that bowl. So I can go at a load for a good few hits and sometimes shaking is sufficient, although I think I will always be able to get more complete extraction and better hits towards the end of a load with a stir and a smash.

All I dont like really is when the vapor starts to tail off, I just want to lift off the heater off, stir or empty and get back to it without having to wait, concentrate or use any tools so that I don't burn myself.
But I honestly dont want to dissuade you from the experience of this vaporizer which has been a godsend for me to provide the effects I cant acquire elsewhere without turmoil and pain, to date.

And it is not the most expensive vape to try out. You may get on well with coil tight on heater and no sick clip, with a safe arrangement.
Still too soon to say definitively what the performance differences or advantages are between the glass and quartz heaters I don't see any reason why the quartz heater would not work equally effectively with the coil once fitted snuggly.
So I will probably go for the quartz heater if I was you I am adamant that is more open airflow with the glass heater but the air flow is so open anyway compared to a lot of other models that this will not matter.

But- this is why I bought 3 quartz heaters- one is to sell with my spare unused Elev8r. And the other 2 I planned to have running simultaneously for a dual setup so that I can literally just switch the coil from one heater to another with an already loaded bowl.

That way I can continue with my sessioning while the other bowl cools down to be accessible.
Then I can just switch back and forth and I could have some fun this way with different strains as well. I do like to mix and match.

Okay not sure what else to add. I actually hope you do give it a try. But I would say perhaps that depending on your method of usage it may be a good idea for you to consider taking a slightly different approach with this one in terms of how you load and extract, with maybe a larger load size and more draws per load.

And that...is all she wrote!:)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write down all your thoughts on the ELEV8TR!!
I was doing some more reading last night and pretty much came up with the same conclusion from a lot of your posts.

I have everything I need for the coil conversion and this has had me thinking that I should just go for it and see what happens. If it works well I can always look into a stainless steel sheath to place over the coil to concentrate the heat more, instead of heating the surrounding air as much. Could even be a double sheath with Aerogel between to really keep the heat focused toward the heater.

Think I have convinced myself thanks to you!! Time for some research to see if the quartz version is available in Canada.

Don't mention it bro you are more than welcome I really wanted to give you a thorough answer and perspective to help you make a decision and I'm glad you decided to give it a shot nothing to lose and considering you will not be relying upon this for your daily driver as I am these little nuisances will be far less of a bother because you have all of your other vapes to mix and match with.

I look extremely forward to hearing your impressions and experiments.
But just one thing left to clarify, it's "Elev8r", no "T" remember, @Morty still has all the T's stashed away somewhere for his breaks!

lazy.....get the quartz version for sure if you are going to use a coil and keep the heater hot through a session. You can easily bend the coil (15.8 or 16mm) to fit the heater and not allow it to slide off if you want. I do not do that, but once you get your minimum heat temps dialed in....you can just leave the coil on the heater for awhile. But I would not do that with the glass one as it is prone to crack.

I normally put the coil on the heater and let it warm up for 90 seconds at 680F on my Auber 300.

If you make some sort of sheath over it.....that would be super cool......you could lower the temps a lot I would think that way.

Another consideration here- I definitely noticed a big improvement in performance and hitting power and extraction rate when I switched to a glass heater which did not have a little nub on it.

The original heaters had a nub which the coil would rest on. So I think the sick clip being in contact with the coil and the bowl contributes to the bowl heat soaking. My bowls get HOTTT!
It makes sense anyway. As soon as my coil has reached set temp on the bowl, I get zero temp drops usually.

I had a big load this evening, I took some really extended draws and the milk was solid. Massive hits but not harsh. Its so easy to take in a lot more vapor than you realise because it flows so fast you can fill your lungs quite quickly and some more, but not be choked up by it like you perhaps would with many other top devices.

Sorry- the point! I've lost it suddenly. Oh yes, no temp drops and once heat soaked it keeps milking until I stop or the actives are running out. Temp drops have varied between users so far so I will be interested @lazylathe to see what you get depending on the actual approach you take.

I mean you may get bigger drops without the clip due to less, or slower bowl heat soaking.

Im lazy AF (honestly no pun intended haha), so I leave the coil sitting on the heater for long times. I would say it is the safest place for it but I should wait until I have quartz heaters with the coil first to make that statement.

Anyway, Im very dreamily high. I look forward to your findings and thoughts Lazy in your own time. Maybe reach out to @Sneaky Pete to see if he is expecting to take delivery of the quartz heaters anytime soon there must be a strong chance of this happening Pete is cool we all know I'm sure he would recognise this as being a very good idea.

Edit- I forgot one thing:

If for whatever reason you can’t get it to Canada hit me up and we can make it happen!

Like @Alexis said this is no microdoser. I would actually love to order a handful of 18/14 drop downs and see if I can find one that has pretty much a straight drop below where the heater sits. Having all that space for tons of herb of course can leave an uncooked ring which necessitates the shaking or stirring so I thing an adapter with narrower inner dimensions may work out quite nifty.

When I experiment with the coil myself I think I am going to keep it secured to the heater with a few tension clips if I can find some handy and try to build a suitable heat shield so I won’t be in a world of hurt if it happens to tip over. I’m not sure how I’d make it yet but I think it will be way easier to build for than say my modded sv3 which I love the function of but is very unwieldy and chunky to operate and have turned on for extended periods.

Contacted @Sneaky Pete and the outcome is not positive unfortunately.
The ELEV8R (notice no extra T Alexis...Keeping those for @Morty) is not flying or elevating off the shelves here in Canada and the demand for quartz heaters has been almost zero...

So I will most likely go with the glass version available locally and see how it goes!

@virtualpurple Do you know what size the heaters joint is? I would imagine the 18mm pipe version would have a larger bowl than the 14mm version? Or are the heaters a standard size?

I have no issues leaving my SV4 on all day, so the ELEV8R should not be an issue for me.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Never mind then on the quartz, but in truth and in practice it is a novelty and a luxury.
Not sure I am following right to answer this, but 14 mm is the joint size for stock bowl and also the smaller adapter bowl I use for faster extraction.

Maybe @virtualpurple knows exactly what you mean.

The WPA bowl piece is 18mm female to 14mm male. So yes, the heater has an 18mm male joint.

That is great news and a triumph of justice in the vaporizing world. Im sure it woukd have happened naturally soon enough.
And Pete is a top dude in my mind he follows the money and is very open to reason. (Also, he liked my post above where I mentioned this and what a thoroughly good and logical idea this would be. So Im sure that is what tipped it, obviously. ;)

Thanks for sharing, Im very eager to hear how this one works (or doesn't) for you. I really cannot call how it will turn out. But I hope that whatever, you are able to enjoy the experience even if it doesn't fit your preferred usage to qualify as a daily driver.
