Hello Arizers, question regarding the basket screens. Is there any way to keep them from falling out? Asking for a friend. ☺️

Yes there is. Tell your friend to get a neodymium magnet and to paste it on top of the glass elbow... hehehe j/k.

the idea is to make the basket wider than it is already... so, grab the basket as in the photo and press lightly and slowly until it feels it's getting wider. insert in the elbow and it should feel like there is resistance going in. I have to do it every couple of weeks because i do a lot of elbow packing and every time i pack it it shapes back up into it's not so wide shape. but I just press it again and voila!

Looks like Arizer has a repair center in the states, so I won't have to ship over the border. Just waiting for the shipping address. They would not tell me (or they did not know) what the code er4 means. So I am sending it in. If it is the heating unit it is covered. If it is the circuit board or other problem, it is not.
The worst case would be buying a replacement for $119.99.

Thank you! Im sure my friend will be very grateful. I’m sure my friend will be very happy to know this little trick! Oh I love this thing . Watching my soap operas, with a nice cold beer, and a great Vape with great meds.

Love this desktop. Tried the Volcano (the OG!) recently and I was kind of underwhelmed. A big part of me just kept reaching for a whip. This thing does it all and does it well.

I prefer this over my volcano. I think the taste is better and I love the remote and variable speeds...and whip... though I will say if I was a medical user or had bad dexterity, the Volcano Classic all the way. The Q just isn't as efficient as extracting all the meds in the herb

After 1 week of using the EQ in its stock configuration, I am very pleased with it. For me, use of the whip is perfect. I keep a cap on the mouthpiece and basically just take a draw when the mood strikes. The DDmod kit looks good, but since I don't use water pieces and will likely only use the whip, I'm not sure how much my usage would be improved by it. I'll read through the dedicated thread for more info. For now, I give my highest rating to the EQ.

*I'm editing this post as I read along the thread

Propz for having an EQ dedicated post.

I would like to ask a couple of questions. In all of them bear in mind that, although the @DDave seem fantastic, they are out of reach for now, so vanilla EQ here.

I get that I should only take the displayed temperature as an indication, and test the results accordingly. Currently testing elbow packing for the first time

Preheating time is one of my concerns, I can use touch to distinguish different temperatures of the bowl, up to the point when it just burns if you touch it. Would aiming at achieving a stable bowl temperature be "the best" indicator of being ready to begin extraction ?

How much do you preheat, and if you use mods: how much would you preheat without mods ?

Regarding the temperature set points.. most posts in this thread speak of temps much lower than the maximum temp the EQ can set (260 ºC). Why would one use lower temps ? (I guess that there are references on this, so you can just point me to them)

I ran into this post because I was looking to use the EQ for decarbing, but I am concerned about running the fan so long. @DDave post detailing his routine give me even more hope.

The set 200 ºC proposed by @DDave are a bit higher than the usual recommended decarb temp. I'm guessing this is just the set point at which he found a good actual temperature in the bowl.

Do you think that I can adapt this technique with a higher temp set point in the EQ to compensate for the bowl not being modded ? If so, which temp ?

With the stock bowl, would "no fan" still produce a good decarbing ? I am planning to stir several times through the process.

Thanks in advance

YES!!!!!

The EQ temperature display, unless by some fluke, will never show the temperature in the bowl. Easily and cheaply verifiable, simply get an inexpensive meat probe thermometer, put in bowl, set EQ temp, turn on fan, wait for temp reading to climb and stabilize. It will never match the display temp.

Good luck in this effort. I just made a batch of capsules, two of which got me through a Queensryche/Scorpions concert - lit like a Xmas tree.

Unfortunately, no. There is much more involved here than simply bumping up the temperature.

Glass thickness, airpath shape, screen mesh, etc...

With the stock bowl, would "no fan" still produce a good decarbing ?

Never use the fan during a decarb event. Even the slightest air movement will result in more of your goodies ending up stuck to the glass instead of on your herb.

new member. I've been using a flowermate swift pro as my go to. I'm thinking of switching to the extreme q and I'm interested in the Ddave kit.

Can someone check my thinking here about this being a good choice for my use.

issues currently: harsh throat feel sometimes, I sometimes want to just take zero resistance style drags, 15-20 second or longer style drags can be annoying

desires:
-convection
-option for "on demand" style usage. sometimes I like just chilling watching tv and take a drag here or there over the course of hours. it seems like I'd be able to do this with elbow packing, have it heating, pop on the elbow take a drag or two, pop it off. am I understanding this right and would be able to use like this?

-efficiency-I want very efficient material usage, sometimes I almost just microdose, this is how I came across ddave mod and saw 420vapezone talk about his kit and was very interested in this. I love max extraction, but kinda throug multiple uses of on demand

-I don't want to suck hard-the idea of whip with fan assistance or using a bag is very appealing. I've never used a bag before, but the EQ seems like the best of both worlds. Is there a way to fashion it to use the volcano mouthpiece valve thing? I feel like this mouthpiece would give a premium bag experience.

-cooler - seems like any of these options of use wouuld be cooler than my swift pro right now.

an added thing is I was almost about to buy a essential oil diffuser to use just to make my place smell nice generally...seems like i could use this to that end too, no? :)

i've been searching around the last few days and think this is the direction i'm headed, but figured I'd finallly become a member after lurking for a while and see if I'm missing something in my line of thinking.

also if @DDave wants to hit me up with a noob coupon before I order a primo v3 glass filter kit, that'd be cool too ;)

On demand will work fine like that, although the glass elbow is likely to get hot so you'll want some kind of stand or rest to keep it in the air, both to stop it burning anything and to stop it touching anything cold and breaking.

Extremely efficient with the mod.

You can adapt the volcano thing but I wouldn't bother, you can buy 'bite valves' for water bladders and fit those on your eq mouthpieces for a LOT less money. Personally, bags are rarely used, it starts getting stale after a few minutes.

You get an aromatherapy glass cup attachment, fill that with herb, slap it on top and boom, nice smells, it has a hole in the base for air flow however so it wouldn't work with oil, any kind of dry herb or potpourri will work. You can leave it sat on a gentle heat for mild fragrance or turn the fan on to scent the room before someone comes in.

Greetings Friend, easier for me to break up large posts and please forgive my delayed response. Crazy busy!

new member.
Welcome!

issues currently: harsh throat feel sometimes,
All my EQ kits offer choice of Water Pipe Adapters. Complete kits offer both 14mm & 18mm Male adapters.
FC discovery vaping through warm-hot water is very soothing.

I sometimes want to just take zero resistance style drags
Kit was designed so the pieces do not add resistance to the equation.
Just ensure you preheat the adapters, as documentation specifies, for best results.

New V4 Wands accommodate this! Internal and basket screens, when used in combination, create an enclosed herb space within the tip of the wand.
To use in the style you mention, on demand, just have the preheated EQ and adapter at the ready.
Have the V4 wand preloaded.
To vape: insert the wand and take a draw, then immediately remove the wand. (you don't want to "preheat" the wand, that's conduction!)

You are going to realize flavor like never before the closer you come to 100% convection.

-efficiency-I want very efficient material usage, sometimes I almost just microdose, this is how I came across ddave mod and saw 420vapezone talk about his kit and was very interested in this. I love max extraction, but kinda throug multiple uses of on demand

Troy did a great job showcasing the 14mm kit MicroDosing capabilities.

I'd love to have a session with him one day, but fear I'd never survive it!!!! Troy is a monster vaper!!!!

-I don't want to suck hard-the idea of whip with fan assistance or using a bag is very appealing.
The restrictions in airpath from stock pieces are removed with kit pieces. You won't need to use an strong draw, unless screens become really clogged.

also if @DDave wants to hit me up with a noob coupon before I order a primo v3 glass filter kit, that'd be cool too ;)

I'm going to have next specials around ThanksGiving US holiday timeframe.

If you have more questions, feel free to send them on over. Please excuse delays in replies... crazy busy lately!

Was awaiting for your reaction.

Going for more of an airtight setup, But I have a Claisen adapter and a plug for carbing out. Plus a stopper plug If I want to go back to a sealed vape chamber and keep the Claisen in the "Q". The carb works best directly above the water piece while the adapter hose is attached to the curved section. Also, Fun to watch.
As it is now. I can take the mouthpiece off my "Q" water tool and attach my 18mm bag. Run the fan. Water tooled vapor in a bag.:rockon:Great for squeezing out the last bit of fumes from every elbow pack.

I have to agree. @Stevenski The double walled hose is deceptively simple. It made me feel a little simple after a while. :haw: Yes, I put a lot of fore though as to how to get it to behave and how to stretch and form it. For reasons that physics teachers can explain better than I can, I had to use warm water under a spigot and a full tub to telescope the larger hose over the smaller hose. Which is why I went with the shorter center hose and knuckle method. To avoid that dead end. :bang: I would push the center hose over the main inside hose as far as I could with warm water running over it.
Then cut it at the length it is allowed and slide it to the center of the main inside hose. The rest was easier in comparison. Slide the other two sections with one corner being overlapped where I would want the arc to form. Then flip back the foldovers on the center piece. But was well worth the effort.:science:
I'd like someone else try something like this and post it.
I love CANNABIS!

The EVO is a great tool!

Recreational shops will be opening near me soon, so I will be getting my hands on some concentrates. What's the easiest concentrate for a noob Q user, and how? I'm a bit of a lightweight so wax on a bed of flower seems like overkill to me. I would probably be doing a very small amount of concentrate per session.

Or should I even bother with the Q, even though I do love it. I have an Ascent, a Crafty and a Haze Square. Should I just try one of those first?

I just had an interesting question posed on my youtube posting for the Arizer EQ mod. One person claims the top portion of their EQ is plastic. So, I did a double take and had to check mine, metal. Called a friend, his was metal.

Is there anyone in the FC Arizer Family who has either an EQ or VTower for which the very top piece is plastic?

Yup, the black ring around the top of mine is plastic.

Edit:- Double checked by shaving one of the ridges around it down with a sharp knife, definitely plastic though very hard, even spyderco knives can't shave bits off metal.

Thanks Friend!

I know it's off topic, but I love the Sypderco Drop Flip Opening technique!!!!

I've got a few spyderco's myself.... But my pride and joy is a Kevin John Venom Attacker... Check it out.. All the specs you'd want to see on a much more expensive knife, but at bargain pricing for what it's made of and quality of workmanship....

yes mine is definitely plastic. got it in 2010 or earlier. Used it for a few weeks and hated it. Tossed it in a bottom drawer until i scored a dd kit a few months ago!
