DMSO

Has anyone used DMSO for arthritis or joint pain? I've always been afraid to try it out. There's been some scarey stories. I had someone at work suggest it. She says she's been using it for years. I looked it up. It's a solvent a leftover from making paper. WTF? That doesn't sound safe.

Its a common ingredient of pain relief topicals,i think it has similar effects to aspirin afair. I have even consumed small amounts orally, as a part of the elemicin (elemi oil) extraction process ,no ill effects, from what i've read you just make sure the place your are applying it is well cleaned before that, :))
Edited.
A cleanness of product and clean environment of the preparation is also a must. I can imagine that this is an easyway to transfer pesticides or other harmful products that might be present in your material directly into your bloodflow.

Like @steama, I remember this being used in the late 70s and early 80s for a number of localized pain issues. The thing that is extremely important if you try it is to be extremely fastidious on maintaining the purity of the chemical and in cleaning the area you will use it on. DMSO will transport most anything through the skin. (Like the LSD mentioned by @hafalump.)

I grew up with my family racing quarter horses so we used a lot of DMSO at the barn. Growing up my grandmother told me that if it was good enough for the horses then it was good enough for me. That was the mentality on their ranch where the horses were their most valuable asset. So I have used DMSO since my teenage years and still use it on occasion. Buy it from a pure source like Jacob Lab, this is Dr. Stanley Jacob's website, he is the Dr. who discovered DMSO, and make sure the application area is clean. I also used Tuttle's horse lineament, mixed with DMSO, and many other barn remedies growing up as a kid.

Too bad there isn't anything for DMSO breath. I would wake up in the morning and my room would smell like oysters and also a strong oyster taste was in my mouth. That was the worst thing with using DMSO.

It's stinky.

Yes that is true. If you really examine the taste, having lived within close proximity to paper mills, its actually a paper pulp taste. Garlic and shell fish is a close approximate, but to me, having lived close to Weyerhaeuser for so many years, it's definitely a wood products taste.

can cannabinoids dissolve in it easily? mix some rso with it?
DMSO is both a polar and non-polar solvent, like alcohol. Theoretically it should work. I should have tried this years ago but never got a round to it.

I've had DMSO treatments given to me by a doctor in his office, in the past. It smelled awful, it tasted awful. It was so bad, that the doctor would administer , then point to the back door. Patients couldn't stay in the office after it was used. I'm thrilled I don't use it any more.
