How does the stereo matrix hit with the FP? I hear a lot of people use them, I've got a matrix sidecar but honestly, not the biggest fan of how pushing your lips to the mouthpiece spins the piece as you are trying to use it sitting on a table.

So I tried convection dabs last night for the first time - whew. I think I found my new favorite thing. I have a bit of a tolerance so doing dabs that are large enough to get me good can be really rough on the lungs. Convection however? So much smoother! I threw like .075g OG flower on the bottom, with maybe 20mg of CBD isolate, and like .15 of a dab on top of it all. 4 or 5 pulls and the vapor started thinning out. And damn I was wrecked! And it was so much easier on my lungs too, it was amazing!

Just got my VROD starter kit and put everything together, but the enail controller doesn't want to let me manually choose a temperature (up/down arrows not working). I've left NewVape a voicemail, does anyone have any suggestions for being able to set temps?

Almost there...

Maybe unplug all connections, remove the fuse in the back and push the on switch and leave for 30 seconds. This will drain any internal juice left.
Restore the fuse and connections and try again.

I'm trying the auto-tune again but that doesn't seem to be working. The "Output, controlled output indicator. (AT) Blinking during auto-tuning process" LED is blinking, but it does not seem to be finishing the auto-tune

When running the calibration, the led flashes rapidly.
After calibration, the led will still flash, but slower.

To calibrate, I turn on the enail controller, set the temperature, flick the second switch to turn on the coil and hold down the > key until the led starts flashing quickly.

I calibrated mine to 630 with the showerhead sat on the stand and it took no more than a couple of mins.

The LED is never flashing rapidly for me. It's only doing the slow flash from when I first turn it on. I guess its never actually going into auto-tune/calibration mode for me.

Here's whats happening: I turn on the enail controller, I can't set the temperature using the up/down arrows. I flick the second switch to turn the coil, and it does heat up to 700F+ where it remains. The up/down arrows do nothing and neither does the > button

Update: when I turn the coil off and leave the controller on, the LED is a solid red. Does that indicate anything?

Maybe...
When I turn off the coil, but leave the controller on, the led is off.

I think it sounds like a dodgy pid. But this is the first enail I've owned

Well great - guess I'm not getting a replacement until next week now since its Thursday. I can't use the 20mm coil from my Liger, because I had to spread that to get the best heat transfer on the Liger. Not a great start to this experience I must say.

710 is going to combust the flower, so its not even a temp I can use

I didn't notice much difference in restriction when I switched from a SH to VRod. I almost never cap straight flower bowls, and I would describe my usual draw speed as "medium". I agree that the unrestricted airflow is one of the great things about the FP system. I run the controller at 700F for both dabs and flower, just got the NV SiC dish.

Hmm ok, thanks for your response. I also rarely use the cap for just flower, and find that when I do it brings me close to or right to combustion alot of the time. I am tempted to get a VRod at some point, but I think its gonna be a long time before I make the switch, and they will probably have a new head out by then lol! At the end of the day, my use is honestly 90% flower if not more so its not a big deal for me to not have a SiC dabbing surface for twaxing. If I have some really special concentrate I can break out the WA head with the SiC dish and do super tasty dabs.

At the end of the day, the subtle improvements of the VRod are simply not worth the expense to me at this time. I would have just gone right to the VRod but I dont know if my coil would be able to heat it properly and didnt wanna take the risk and then have to buy the controller and coil on top of it. Ill wait, the SH has satisfied my VAS for hopefully the next little while haha!

710 won't combust if you watch a few parameters. Don't use the carb cap, and use a medium to fast inhale.

Using too slow of an inhale at that temp will give the possibility to combust. But a medium to fast draw can actually produce some great results at that temp. If you draw too fast, you'll start to get a dark ring around the flower in your bowl. But just stir it and nbd.

So yes, not ideal, but at least something til you get a functional controller.

Oh cool! I've been reading through the thread slowly, and saw people at 600 and below for flower on the VROD (which amazed me). Will have to try it out with a small bowl to being with

The Flowerpot is extremely versatile. People kind of settle into what fits their desires/needs/water pieces best.

I use my Showerhead uncapped at 727 all the time, my favorite way to use it. Unrestricted massive hits.

I typically use my Vrod for flower at 636, capped. The Vrod has a tendency to produce the dark outer ring at high temp uncapped hits, unlike the SH. That's it's only shortcoming compared to the SH with flower imo.

Good luck!

I can confirm the dark outer ring is present when I hit - but no combustion! Not huge clouds - but I only packed enough to cover the screen. Got me higher than my bong was getting me since my concentrate access dried up so success :D! I guess I now wait until I get the controller next week, then I can start to figure out what works for me!

Nice! Keep playing around with it, I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Try starting your inhale kind of medium speed until you just start to see vapor form, then pick up your draw speed. This gets the load warm quickly, then let's you keep hitting it without it getting too hot.

And just give it a little stir, if you're using large enough loads that you don't kill the bowl in 1 hit.

But I'd probably stick with smaller, 1 hit bowls for now, til youre able to control the temp. Will keep that flavor nice and tasty for you.
