I often heat mine up, pull a bag, and then turn it off and put it away, when I'm just grabbing a bag for myself. That's not generally the best thing for heating elements. My feeling, though, is that the vibe pump is going to die before the element does. When I know I'll pull a couple of bags within an hour or two, I'll leave it on, but rarely longer than that.

Conventional wisdom says that it's better to leave it on, rather than heat it up, cool it off, and heat it up again. I wouldn't think that leaving it on for many hours is the best idea, either, though.

I'd say the longest i've left mine on was 3 hours. I usually vape 2 -3 bags then turn it off. So it's usually not on longer than 45 minutes. Also, I have a Digital, so it auto shuts off after 30 min of inactivity making it hard for me to leave it on for long periods of time. I've heard tales of people running them just about 24/7 with little to no problems, but who knows.

When you look at the inside of a Volcano you can see that there is not much to go wrong, especially the classic model. The only major parts to wear out are the pump, thermostat, and element. The pump might fail after so many hours but heating elements by design last a long time, they are just electrically charged wire encapsulated in a thermally conductive material. As for the thermostat, it seems to be a bi-metal unit in the Volcano which will eventually wear out due to expanding and contracting but this would be over the course of many, many years.

My conventional wisdom says not to leave any vaporizer on all day in the case of causing a fire, it scares me when I read about people doing this with there PD.

that's how i feel. i really don't want to come home to fire trucks and then have to explain to the cops why my drug paraphernalia started a fire. :o

When you say, left it on, do you mean left attached to current? I don't have a classic, and one of the things I dislike about the digital is that if you don't use it, it will shut off. Is there some trick I've missed? Could I do something to make it "Stay On"?

All right people, looks like it’s been about nine years since the last post. I hope someone has left their volcano on that entire time and can report that it is still going strong…Waiting...

I leave mine on 24-7 I use it at all hours of the day/night never had a problem. Two years strong.

That’s why I’m considering trading in my digital for a classic. I hate the automatic shut off. On the other hand, I don’t want the house to burn down...Not sure how risky it actually is to leave it on continuously…

From five am to midnight daily.............

Got the classic about 2 months ago, gave my sister the digital. Everyone is happy.

It’s on an outlet timer, it turns on at 4:30am so it’s ready for me at 5 AM, turns off at midnight in case I fall asleep and forget. Thank you technology!

For real...........funny how the next step forward(digital)was actually a step back for some.

A step back to the point where I had just stopped using the digital volcano completely and was using my mighty as my daily driver because the auto turn off was such a pain in the ass. I love the volcano, but it really does need a good 20 minutes to heat up properly, and I just don’t have the time to wait for it.
