My apologies for the noob question, but im new to the whole glass thing- what is the 19/19 and 19/22 thing?

It's the size of the glass. First is diameter second is the lengths. Basically before you could insert a stem up to 22mm deep now it's 19mm deep.
Look for stem with a 19mm lengths above that and it won't fit good it wobble.

Nice one @Lazy Lighting! Much appreciated!
Your welcome! Mark is a great guy to do business with.

Do you mean these GonG adapters?

What are the differences to any other adapters of this kind aside the internal glass screen which shall be useful just for whole nugs?

Which accessories (stems, top hat chamber etc) from 420edc are also recommanded for the Splinter and why?

Doesn't Ryan offer stems, screens etc. offer himself? Or do I have to order accessories exclusively at 420edc?

Am also interested in the XL8R but that is currently not offered at Ryan's site.
I have that adapter on my splinter, works great. If you are ordering I highly advice a cooling mouthpiece as well. It's all I use now.

A 19/22mm to 14/20-whatever would be the best. Buy it at any of the online shops: grasscity, thickassglass, tokecity, wherever. As of now Ryan doesn't have any plans to sell them. I'm gonna suggest to him that he does cause he's getting the real good German glass now & he can get ones that fit great for the 19/22 & the new 19/19.

Also, you can buy stems from 420edu as the 19/22 stems that 420 currently has is supposed to, per Ryan, be backward compatible.

I still don't know what stems will fit my Splinter, does anyone else have a problem with stems not fitting?

Write them & ask them if they got one of the new 19/19 Splinters
Are there two versions of the Splinter out there, one with the 19/22 joint and one with the new 19/19 joint? And there's been talk about backward compatibility of stems? I've emailed Ryan but I've not heard back.

Are the new 19/19 joint stems currently available from online retailers? I checked on 420edc and the RBT Short Stems are called out as "19/22 US Joint".

Edited to add:
Just saw this post.

So only 19/19 joint stems will fit the current Splinters?

Any edc stem that fits the milaana will fit the splinter, FJ’s new wood stems also fit if you don’t have an issue with the pod sitting on the heater screen and it being a little lose but for ease of use I don’t mind it

@ray_b, I'm assuming that the 1 clear glass short stem that came with your Splinter doesn't wobble when inserted? Aren't you able to measure that joint so you know what length you have? I have several dollar store rulers that are not accurate enough for measurement. I know I have the 19/22 because they are colored glass as only the colored glass is 19/22. I bought a couple of 18mm gongs from tag & grasscity & one must be closer to 19/22 since it fits well & doesn't sit on the screen, & yet the other sits on the screen & wobbles. For me, I'm gonna specifically pic up a 19/22 gong so I'm sure of the measurement being correct.

When I shine a flashlight into the S, my screen seems visually level.

So only 19/19 joint stems will fit the current Splinters?

This is all based on what Ryan said in his streams:

Ryan had said that 19/19 joints will be backward compatible with the 19/22 stems. Snce they sit up 3mm higher I don't know if they will wobble or not.

I recall Ryan switching over to the 19/19 German glass for the Vapefiend order -- he was waiting for delivery of the glass, but I don't know if any US waitlist ones went with 19/19 glass at the time of delivery of the glass. I know that all international orders will have the new glass. And I don't know how many US ones shipped with 19/19.

FYI, Ryan posted on IG yesterday that he was going dark on IG in support of #mediaatheism & to follow through his website or subreddit. He seems to speak through reddit member Ductaperape. I don't know if Ductaperape is also a FC member under a different username or he's just on reddit.

This is what he posted a couple of days ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/rastabuddhatao/comments/8xeoia/update_070918/

And Ryan also posted in May & June on here:
https://420vapezone.com/forum/dry-herb-weed-vapes/

*Note in one post he referenced the new joints as being 17/15, but this was not said in this streams so I don't know what he is referring to.

Now you all know as much as I do. All I'm personally waiting for is the website to sell the basket screens & I'm set.

Edited to add: I found this on IG where Ryan said that the 1st Splinter using 19/19mm was produced, & this was only on 6/23. If anyone did receive the new glass Splinters it would have had to be less than 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the in depth reply @Summer.

I received two of the long stems with my Splinter. I've measured the stems, Splinter, and other fittings I have (and posted a photo) but with a sample size of one Splinter I had nothing to compare it with.

Thank you!! This is what I've been looking for, confirmation that there are two different versions of the Splinter that have been sold. My Splinter order receipt is dated June 19 and I received my order on July 2 so it seems that I have the 19/19 joint.

Now you all know as much as I do. All I'm personally waiting for is the website to sell the basket screens & I'm set.
Thank you again for your reply. I've been trying to follow Ryan on IG and reddit but without finding concrete information.

I purchased these basket screens from Amazon and with a little coaxing they fit fine in the two stems I received with my Splinter.

A Google search for "19/19 ground glass fitting" turns up nothing. ASTM standard specifications for ground glass fittings doesn't even list a 19/19 size (link to pdf). Looks like I'll have to depend on RBT for spare stems of the proper size.

I've been able to rig something that allows me to use the Splinter with a water piece.

I received mine on 6/30 and just measured it at 19/22

Sounds like just the first batch has the 19/22 guess mines a limited edition:)

I wonder if that's why the first batch ended up with different assorted stems.

Here’s a little food for thought, all my tubo stems and the half dozen mountainglass stems fit the splinter perfectly. As a matter of fact I had most of my color stems tucked away because they didn’t fit my Mi so well, it was a huge shock to see how tightly they sealed with the splinter. The gongs from Thickassglass work perfect too in case anyone is looking, they’re nice and thick, lol.

Interesting to hear this @almost there. All of my Tubo stems make contact with the heater screen of my Splinter (bent stem, 18mm WPA & DDave Vapor Cooler). They still work with the Splinter but I can rotate them when inside the female joint of the Splinter quite freely.

I ordered 6/18 I believe. My unit has the 510 completely recessed and flush with the wood. I have the long bent tubo stem and the crazy looking one that will be used with the stem pod. The bent stem fits without any contact in the bottom as far as I can tell. It looks great but not my favorite. The quartz banger stem seals without standing on the screen but there’s no way for me to really tell if it’s making any contact with the screen, I feel no resistance.

Mountainglass.com - I got some cheap color stems from them and I bought a few in 14mm to use as mp’s for my orbitor. Those work amazing as well

@NHCheef i just did a check, neither tubo stems rotate freely when inserted. The bent stem don’t rotate at all even. Maybe my splinter screen was just assembled further down that’s all

@Summer my heat sink arrived, it looks terrible attached so I’ve only used it while I did my burn in finally. Glad I used it and glad I did it, both. After almost 2 weeks of daily use it stilled smelled foul when I did it. The heat sink got quite warm at 70W.

Mine isn't flush with the wood and is 19/22 so guess that's a easy way to tell apart. Pluses and minus I guess. Have tons stem that fit...but not sitting flush doesn't look as good as flushed.
Maybe not, here's mine with the 19/19 joint. Look's like there are several limited edition Splinters out there.
I'm just happy to have gotten one, I'm loving mine.

Got my hands on a DNA250c. Anyone try Evolv's Replay Mode on the Splinter?

No what does replay do?

I have a dna75c and still messing with escribe. I can’t find where to change the TCR value. Anyone know how to do it in escribe?

I am getting decent results with titanium 1 at 24 watts and between 260-290 for temp. I still feel like it gets a little hot after a few hits and have to let off the button.

Love using my splinter and messing with the settings. It really is a great device and I’ve had multiple people who are purely smokers use it with ease.

DNA75C users, install the latest version of escribe from the evolv website, It offers a DNA75C firmware upgrade with Replay mode.

On the DNA250C, and the firmware upgraded DNA75C, Replay mode records and replicates "the perfect puff".

Some have described it as "TCR for dummies", but it's so much more. According to this YouTube interview with Evolv's chairman, it's a fuzzy logic module that looks at multiple variables, including wattage and resistance, how they change over time, and user behavior, to create a custom algorithm for your device and your vaping preferences.

Getting to "the perfect puff" the first time, and recording it, reminds me a bit like a session with the Milaana. You pick a wattage that gives you the power you're looking for in a maximum pull draw on the Splinter, which might be 30W vs 40W based on your preference for heat and intensity -- as one might select a 30Q vs a VTC6 battery for the best Milaana experience.

While recording, you do a warm up, which at 30W might take 7 to 10 seconds, starting to draw at about the 5 second point. And then continue, firing the mod, for subsequent draws, until one is "just right".

Save. Replay.

Well, guess what? Next time you pick up the vape cold, it seems to do a smart wattage boost to get you to "your perfect puff" faster, and to strictly control the Splinter so it doesn't get too hot! Every pull seems exactly the same.

You hold the fire button the full duration of any pull.

(In the ejuice community, vapors report that Replay Mode detects, and ramps down, the heater as cotton dries, flavor to the last drop.)

It's early in my testing, but Replay Mode seems to behave as billed on my Splinter. Well, I haven't blown my face off yet.

Thank God for Ringo's Gift. Macrodosed CBDs this morning.

I recently got a Splinter and a Tubo X with some glass. The short cooling mouthpiece and gong adapter fit the Splinter snugly with a good glass connection but the long Tubo cooling mouthpiece touches the heater in the Tubo and spins more freely. It's bizarre because all three are snug in the Tubo.

Can somebody suggest initial settings to use the Splinter with my eLeaf Invoke?

I was testing it in from 27 to 30w and it got hot/harsh without producing any vapor. I got one huge cloud by switching to TC mode at 30w and 370°F but holding the button while it crept up slowly to temp seemed wrong and it did feel too hot on my lips at the end.

I'm such a box mod noob and I'm sure that's the main issue.

I'm getting a heat sink so as to be able to detach the Splinter from the mod via the heat sink so I don't have to keep unscrewing the 510 Splinter adaptor directly so as it doesn't separate from the wood as has been know to happen.

Hey @Summer . Do you have a heat sink recommendation?

Bought cheap one off Amazon, and with the Splinter, the (cold) Ohm measurement is much higher and bouncing all over the place on an advanced Mod.

Made me doubt it's safe to use.
