I was reading on the AF forums about this issue, some have speculated that the meager-sized, gold battery contacts / pins for the cell on the battery door of the primo mini are the cause of this. Compared to the big, beefy gold contacts for the cell on the VTC mini, I see this may be the case. :sherlock:

Interesting theory. It's clear that the door has some minute amount of play and that might be enough to create a dicky contact. In the VTC mini those fat spring loaded contacts (almost like fat pogo pins) do provide a good pressure. It was a good design for sure.

Right now I'm only using my Primo mini as a fast charger. Coupled with a 2.5A USB wallwart it can charge faster than other mods (close to 2A I think) That's barely "fast" for the large capacity cells we use (less than 1C) so I think it shouldn't affect their cycle life too much (in the RC world many charge up to 4C but that's with packs with extremely low IR values)

But apart from that it became unusable with my iHeat in less than two months. Either I screw the attachment fully and it reads over 0.4xxx ohm where the atty is 0.35ohm in reality. Either I don't screw it fully and get the correct resistance reading, but then the attachment is super wobbly (don't know if it's the iHeat 510 threads or the Primo ones but it's loose there is a lot of side to side play) and when I hit it, the pressure of my mouth against the stem is enough to move the atty and the resistance reading jumps all over the place... so it's unusable, at least in TC mode.

Welp, it looks like I chose the wrong 1st mod out of the gate, especially as it arrived yesterday! All good knowing these limitations up front though. I'll get something else on order.

That said (while waiting for something new) I'd like to be able to play around with the Evic Primo Mini. It will be for use exclusively w/ the Stempod when it arrives, so I'll ask you guys here. Based on your guys experience using it with other devices, any recommendations out of the box?

I’ve ordered a Wismec RX300 to pair with my Stempod. I chose it based on battery capacity (4 batteries), decent user reviews, compatibility with FJ’s firmware (I definitely want to use TCR, Cruise, etc.), and it was <$50. It’ll be a heavy beast, but I think I’ll use it exclusively at home. If I decide to take the Stempod out-and-about, or that the RX300 size is just too clumsy even for home use, I’ll buy a smaller box, as there are plenty of inexpensive devices available.

Yeah put AF on it and enable PI mode for TC(R). Then screw the atty once and never touch it again! :lol:

When it works the Primo mini ain't bad don't worry.

Wow so not much to tweak in AF? Spent hours with the dna settings and was hoping I could least customize do some tweaking in AF too? Escribe is so customizable was least hoping Arctic Fox was too.

I'm guess should go back and look at the mac af config and af monitor software see at what it offers. Kinda be bummed if that all you can do with it.

Edit..just checked seems like there's lots of ways to adjust settings with AF and there device monitor looks like its in realtime.

I'm sure the settings keroZen posted would get you vaping just fine. But if looking to get the best performance possible from a new mod. He should join us over in diy discussions

@HerbieVonVapster: ha, indeed there are many settings in AF. My post was just a shortcut for "install and configure it" of course. But the important bit was to enable PI mode as I believe it's off by default and otherwise TC is not smooth at all.

Sorry about that been so wrapped up with escribe. Didn't want mess with AF till mod got here. You're advice is right best to give simple instruction to get it working. If someone want more advance stuff can checkout the mod setting post.

If we start clutter (guilty) post about mods it takes discussion away from the vaporizer.

Considering the amount of 510 vaporizer on the market and that mods basically work the same with them.
Don't want scare people off with a bunch tech mumble jumble when there just looking to vape.

Wow amazing. One of the first times I've seen a first rollout estimate actually be accurate. Congrats dude, so huge!

Guys get fucking stoked, this thing is an absolute beast of a portable (it's a beast in general). High temp high airflow TC through water is a wicked experience. High Wattage low airflow fast pulls dry creates a backpressure to release some insanely thick clouds. Drop the Wattage a bit, lower the airflow and draw slow to not fight it and you'll get super smooth, flavorful vapor. Be as badass as Dan and crank the Wattage up, open up that airflow and wail on it for one of the deadliest hits you've experienced. I'm 99% certain my heart stopped for 12 seconds after a hit. Luckily another hit jump started it again.

I have quite a few vapes, not impressive compared to some but enough to look crazy to the average combustion stoner ... this is one of the strongest I've tried. I had an LSV if that helps put things in perspective.

Even with massive rips through water, I still get awesome flavor, and it is very impressive.

This vape does it all, I expect some awesome videos from some of you early adopters. I did my part, someone else throw in some content too! ;)

I'm gonna assume 18/22 would be the run-of-the-mill norm. "StemPod has been engineered for 18mm glass stems making it compatible with most pre-existing glassware." Maybe 18/26 will also work.

This isn't really the norm. RBT vapes are the only vapes that use either the 19/22 or now the 19/19 sizes.
The most standard "18mm" male measurement is 19/26.

Anything other than 19/26 is a bit harder to find.
I believe the stempod will fit all of them however due to the o-ring.

Edit: While 19/22 is listed as a standard, it is very hard to find. The 19/26 is readily available at most retailers.

@duff, there seems to be 2 standards: ISO 19/26 & US standards 19/22. Here's the wiki graph:

I have several 18mm gongs from China, TAG, grasscity & only 1 fits properly in the Splinter so I'd say it was a true 19/22, all the rest are smaller in diameter, therefore they're loose.


@KeroZen, I would love to continue to discuss the 19/22 to 19/19 in the Splinter thread, but it's not fair to Dan to discuss it here. So if you post over there, I'll jump in.

Using a US 18mm m2m. your standard ISO m2m will work too (assuming 18mm not 14mm). The specific length doesn't really matter with the StemPod, it is very compatible to hit many lengths.

@Summer I agree with @duff 90% of male ends I come across or have seen anywhere are ISO. With the StemPod though it won't matter, even the craziest of 18mms still work with the ORing installed, Dan did an amazing job with it.

The only reason length matters in the Splinter is because the screen is shallow and male end will press against the screen. Dan engineered the the StemPod with a deep seated screen so it is compatible with all lengths. Keep in mind, there are 2 ways to use the StemPod, with the Oring, and without. With the ORing is stock setup, most people will probably never remove as it comes installed and works great, and with the ORing, 90% of Male ends that are 18mm will fit. They can be super long, super short, any end of the extreme and they all fit. Every single one of my 18mm male ends fit in the StemPod with the Oring (and basically without too but we'll get to that).

Now without the ORing the results could be slightly different. Again, the LENGTH will not matter, nearly everything 18mm will fit in the StemPod because of the deep seated screen. The ORing is in place to account for variations in WIDTH. If one has too small of a diameter and cannot seal properly without the ORing, it will 90% sure fit with the Oring. The ONLY way I can see an 18mm not fitting is if it just so goddam wide that it doesn't even slide into the StemPod to begin with, just can't even fit in the hole, but I assume something like this would never make it to market. I really think the StemPod with the oring is 99% compatible with all 18/19mm glass pieces.

The reason I like without the ORing is simply because I'm not used to it and my usage style through water does not agree. I like to cruise mode and spin my vape ontop of the male end for a little more involved experience and even heating. This goes back to my Nano days back in 2015 and followed through with my LSV and Lotus days. I also like how easily I can pull the vape off the water to stir without the ORing. It takes 1 hand and is a simple lift. With the Oring, it seals in the ring and the oring actually grabs the glass. If you want to pull the StemPod off your bubbler, you need to take the Male end in 1 hand and the StemPod in the other and pull them apart. It is not difficult, they come right apart, but it is not necessarily a 1 handed system and takes 1-2 seconds longer than without the oring. It also cannot really spin freely with the ORing because of the added resistance/grip/friction.

The fact that the StemPod can do both is an amazing feature. When I'm out and about I 100% use the oring every time as it keeps the stem seated securely. You load up a stem, throw it in the StemPod with the oring, and you can literally (don't quote me) swing your StemPod around with the stem. It does not detach, it is secure. Perfect for out and about.

In my opinion, there is no need to specify the 18mm with the StemPod, 18/22 18/19, 18/26, 18/xyz, they will probably all fit. Go back to the good old days with a bowl and a bong and a lighter, no one knew what any of that shit meant. They just knew they needed the bigger sized male to fit their bigger sized female, or the smaller sized male to fit the smaller sized female. That's basically what we're working with here, just the bigger male (18mm) to fit bigger female (18mm).

Maybe..MAYBE..in the future when everyone has StemPods and you see little children running with their fathers who have StemPods and little children themselves running with their StemPods (wait I'm getting ahead of myself), maybe we will see a pattern of which size fits more consistently without the Oring. But as stock with the ORing they're essentially all the same.
