If you do dabs give the VRod a go for sure! If you use another coil there only helps trial and error to find your sweet spot. Dialed temp has to be a lot higher than recommanded here I guess.
If you should have a 5 wrap coil wrapped to the "wrong" direction it's questionable whether the coil fits into the VRod cause of it's tight measures of place for the coil I fear.

Hey guys! I already asked this by PM to a nice forumite, but I also would like to hear your public oppinion, that way some others in my situation can obtain help from this post.

I have an Arizer V-Tower (extreme q with no fan/balloons) with the Ddave mod, and I'm seriously thinkng about getting the FP SH, after reading a lot, and though I'd only vape flowers, seems to be the best option for the money.

The thing is....I'm based in Europe, and I was just up to buy the enail in DHGate and the showerhead set and the bowl separately, which would cost around 275€ (and would probably have to deal with customs because of the enail from DHGate), I would even add a stand/debowler (85€ more), which would make the thing around 360€....... but I just saw that the Flowerpot Starter Kit is available in Vapefiend for 428€: https://vapefiend.co.uk/collections/newvape/products/flowerpot-twax-starter-kit?lshst=collection

It adds the carb cap, handle..... and it is really only around 70€ more.I already have glass, so....

Maybe the kit is a good option, since you get all together from Vapefiend, no customs issues from UK and don't have to buy the enail from China and deal with customs, which will save me a headache, but I'd like to hear your oppinion.428€ is, at the end, a lot of money for a vaporizer.

I really think the FP SH can be a really good improvement in my sessions over the Arizer V-Tower, for all I've readed, the FP hits way harder, which is what I'm really looking for, but I'd be very disappointed if I don't get noticeable better "results" than with the V-Tower.

So....do I buy the essential pieces from Vapefiend and get an enail from China, or is the kit from Vapefiend worth it? Is the money worth the improvement over a V-Tower in your oppinion?

Thanks in advance for your help!
First- definitely get the Flowerpot. Just wipe away all doubt and uncertainty now. If you end up being somewhat disappointed (unlikely) then I dont think it would be all that bad. But this is not even an option in my mind. So let's move on.

It is not guaranteed that you will pick up Customs fees by ordering the controller from China from that same seller it seems hit and miss how they declare the value many people have ordered from DHgate and this particular seller and controller without paying any Customs but sometimes people are picking up Customs fees for the same items from the same seller although this does not tend to happen with the glass sellers, where personally I have never paid any Customs ordering glass from China touch wood (or glass).

So if I was you I would just do the exact same thing I did myself last year when I bought my Showerhead kit. Just figure out exactly what you want/need. Write it all down on paper. Add up the sums and totals of the possible prospective order routes.

Then compare the totals to see what is best value overall or most logical compromise. It may be that the full kit direct from Vapefiend is the best deal, and you should have all the essential parts you need.
And factor in the possibility of customs on the China controller, (basically 20% plus £8 postal fee here in UK).
Then when it is all clear in front of you you should be able to more clearly see the pros and cons to make up your mind more easily.

Good luck man you wont regret it.

I was n the same situation, i got everything from @VapeFiend.com and did not regret it. You will have a MUCH harder hitting Vape than your V-Tower.

Customs can get quite expensive and where i am from in Europe, sometimes you have to browse the Web sitting at customs together with them to find out how much something really costs and what taxes apply - not too great with MJ related products....
And i guess it would be a nice plus to have an european vendor if you need guaranty or service...

These are just my :2c:, others are more brave

Whatever you do, just do it and enjoy the mighty FP! Welcome

OK so I took advantage of the Freedom code on 7/4 and got the email battery, chases, and another coil/handle, shovel head bowl. Love the portablitliy of this this a it keeps everything locked in. Move it around the house when I dont want to be tethered to my vape station.

So using the exact same water piece and same temps... the new portable unit seems to be running hotter. It is one of the new 20mm coils and the only other difference is the shovel head bowl instead of a pan head. I dropped it down 10deg to 640 and still seems like it is cooking bowls faster. Do you think this is the new controller/coil or the different between Shovelhead and Panhead bowls?

I love the VROD so much I just used the 710day code to order a second one for my portable unit. They need to get busy and make some new shiny shit for me to buy. I have almost got one of everything now.

Personally, I give a very slight edge in flowers only to the Showerhead.

The reason I give that slight edge to the SH is the ability to have high temp, uncapped, fast and hard rips with the SH.

I can achieve the same vapor quality and density with the VRod as I do the SH, but I have to use a cap and lower temps. There's nothing technically wrong with this, as I said, I can achieve the same vapor quality as with the SH. But sometimes I like to have the free flowing, unrestricted nature the SH can provide. Just hit and rip it as hard as you can.

If I use the same high temp, uncapped technique with the VRod, I get the ring around the edge. I have one of the OG VRods, but have put in the Rev B plug into my center hole. It definitely helped the situation, but I still have a ring. The ring is closer to the edge of the bowl than without the Rev B plug, but it's still there if hit a certain way.

So if you never have plans to use concentrates, I'd still give the edge to the SH. It gives you that ability to just rip it with even extraction. But if ever factor in concentrates, the Vrod definitely comes out ahead.

thank you so much my dude! thats very helpful....i do plan to occasionally vape oil+flowers at the same time with this thing but im really buying it because i need a better flower vape and oil is more of a secondary function for sure.

follow-up question....is the rev b plug basically the same thing as buying the new vrod? like when you say you used a rev b plug you mean you turned your old vrod into the upgraded version?

Exactly.

If concentrates are in your future at all, just go for the Vrod. The SH only beats the Vrod for flower only in high temp, uncapped, hits that you can hit as hard as you want.

Not sure if anyone else has found this but the vrod definitely fits the glass bowls better (both stevies and the rainbow-eBay-also-from-newvape ones). The threading on the sh’s Coil nut bit doesn’t sit anywhere near as nicely as the vrod’s flat bottom where the holes are bit

Edit: just to be clear they both work perfectly fine with both glass bowls, it just doesn’t feel as nicer fit or as easy to find the balanced point if your supporting the coil to avoid any possibility of air leak

I know the general consensus is the ShowerHead is slightly better than the Vrod for pure flower, but so far I'd personally have to give the edge to the Vrod for flavor and efficiency. I agree that the ShowerHead seems to be more of a grip and rip type of device but, after switching to a 14mm rig, I do a slower draw than my 18mm anyway, which suits the Vrod well. That said, temps are significantly lower on the Vrod and the flavor is quite a bit better, imo. For concentrates, there's no comparison, the Vrod is a definite improvement. It does seem to take slightly longer to heat up but I haven't actually quantified that with any real numbers.

Anyway, just some quick thoughts after a couple sessions. Looking forward to more testing and will update my experience when it's a bit more seasoned.

do you notice any need to stir the bowl on your vrod? that is the only thing i can see making much difference to me.

I haven't found the need to stir at all. This is with a limited amount of use, so I'll definitely get a better feel for it as time goes on. But, after reading some of the comments here, I was extremely wary about spending the money to move to the Vrod. I was pleasantly surprised to see it doesn't require me to do anything differently than I already am. That said, I don't know if it'd be worth the cost if you already have a ShowerHead and want to use flower exclusively. I've moved more to about 50/50 flower/concentrate use so it's a no brainer in that case, IMO. There was a noticeable difference in flavor with the flower too, though not as significant.

in my opinion yes. On the same rig I dialed down from 680F to 640F getting the same extraction and less hardness. It is all about how the air flows through that thing. the Showerhead was good but the VROD is better... is it enough better to make it worthwhile for someone tight on money I wouldn't say so. But most of us here have more money than brain cells. :D The things I like about the VROD it is best for TWAX and it is just plain fucking sexy piece of equipment. Get the VROD carb cap if you use oils.

Are you saying the VROD has a slight taste improvement over the SH?

Can anyone else comment on that?

I'm still on the fence...

just_the_flu

they say im crazy but i have a good time
I'm still on the fence...

...same, mainly because i do not have the newvape controller, and do not wish to buy another controller and coil, i have enough 20mm coils as is...

...also i have not dabbed off the flowerpot since getting my showerhead (I've been enjoying other options)...

...imo showerhead is still king of flower  (keep in mind i have yet try vrod)...

taste is really subjective... too many factors. I have found the best flavor in lower temps with free flowing rigs. The smaller the an size on the rig the better the flavor. I haven't noticed a bid difference in flavor between heads but the VROD was easier to dial in and runs the same as the showerhead at 40F lower temp.

i know everybodys setup is different, but what about you, do you feel the need to stir your vrod bowl? also can the v-rod bowl hold the same amount?

Not sure about consensus, but I agree with your assessment.

I'm running my VRod at 30 degrees less than I ran my ShowerHead and I actually extract a medium bowl more quickly with the VRod than I did with the SH -- two pulls versus three. The flavor is better too.

This stuff is all really subjective, I may have changed my draw characteristics when I switched to the VRod -- who knows?

The VROD is a head unit... not a bowl. I can use it on the Panhead or the Shovelhead bowls. You need a bowl to go with the VROD. Again it is is preference. I use one of the NewVape scoops and completely crush it one easy hit. Others use whole nuts or fuller bowls.

ahh ok that makes sense. so you would say the v-rod doesnt need to be stirred though?
