Torches and IH off topic,, I don`t even have a smart arsed comeback for that. Try using you Vapcap in the real world without either.:disgust:
Instead of having a grizzle if you think something is off topic, hit the Report button and let the mods delete it if they agree with you.
When the talk is all about torches it’s off topic.

Here you go. There’s a whole thread for torches that people use with vapcaps.
Exactly, this one:
What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?
...and it's an excellent resource!

I still get to play with fire.

For in bed at night, I'd suggest no fire and check out the various induction heater options honestly :D

I just tested out my new Ti Woody, I've been using the M same as you, this seems to click a lot faster which I expected but it also seemed to get more out of my weed - the abv was a really dark brown all the way through. It also seems to be much much better air flow, a whole different world to the original M I got and even better than my modifications.

Does anyone actually taste wood using the woody or vong bodies? I cleaned the metal parts with iso but only wiped the wood. It's not unpleasant, just a faint taste of woodiness.

Holy crap. I just ran a damp white kitchen roll over the blackwood stem and it picked up a dark brown stain, so I gave it a full wipe with warm water and I got tons of dark brown gunk off and out of it.
All from the blackwood, the cocobolo mouthpiece is totally clean but the blackwood stem seems to have something coming off it. I scrubbed it, then actually stuck the stem under the tap and the water came out of the middle light brown.

I assume this is not normal?

Nope. Can only say that only the foggy goodness comes thru, the double sentinels of glass
and water, and BOOM! A WonG is made to be used with water, after all

That's normal. You're actually stripping away the natural oils that make it black when you're running water over it. I just rubbed a piece of blackwood with a damp paper towel and got brown residue coming off.

It's in your best interest to not get the wood wet at all and coat it with wax.

While there may be some wood odor coming off your woody or nonavong when it is new (and recently cut or shaped) you would mostly be smelling it in the air rather than breathing it. The only time air directly passes through the wood is when using the air hole to add air to the mix, and that is room temp clean air. The heated air and vapor only travels down the condenser. Even at the wood mouthpiece the condenser lines it.

Not made, but still available here and there. Vaposhop if you're in Europe, not sure where they'll ship to. https://www.vaposhop.com/vaporizers/portable_vaporizers/vapcap-original/

I don't have the glass dynavap, but my glass vaponic tastes better than my dynavaps - harder to use and doesn't hit as hard though.

Thanks @Winegums I really don't use much wooden stuff and most things are either painted or sealed that I do encounter. I was wondering if it was even real blackwood, sat here thinking 'Did they just dye this bugger?!' :p

I think there are a lot of people who are sensitive to the taste of metal (especially steel for some reason) but I would expect that to be much more apparent in a MP or something that you actually touch with your lips than the condenser or other travel path. That being said, the wand is glass from start to the tip with no condenser so there would certainly be no taste with it. I am currently using mine with a M18 and I like it very much, tho it is an alternative rather than a replacement for my Vongs.

nice
I will have to order one of these
Are they different sizes for the Ti and Ss tip?

Very slightly yes, apparently the tips aren't quite the same size so he adjusted the wands, someone else (mrb?) had the same question last week. :-)

The condenser tube just keeps your outer tube clean afaik so in a glass wand it's not needed, just run some iso through it or whatever.

I haven't waxed it, never occurred to me honestly until Winegums mentioned it. Can anyone recommend a good wax or what kind I should look for? Beeswax? Do we have a thread on wood care? How many 'out of context' posts can we get in a conversation about waxing my woody?

My double crown blackwood stem should have arrived today too, sat here waiting through the time slot they messaged me, gave it another 15m then checked the tracking.

"Sorry, your parcel could not be delivered as your DPD driver could not find your address; we will update you here shortly"

Don't bullshit me DPD, you gave me the driver's name, it's the same guy who always delivers to me, he knows the damn address!

All wood should be conditioned to keep it moisturized and to prevent it from drying out and possibly even cracking.

There are several options out there. Dynavap sells a wood conditioner made from beeswax and hemp oil.

@phattpiggie makes a lovely wood conditioner for the stems he sells. It is my favorite. It has the same ingredients, different proportions. It's not as solid as the Dynavap version.

@Ed's TnT also has a nice product that he calls Bomb Ass Butter. Also very good. It's made from beeswax and mineral oil.

For sure you want a product that is non toxic and won't go rancid. I'm not an expert, but I know what I like. Everytime I clean my Vapcap I take the opportunity to condition my wood. I use a tiny bit and rub it into the wood, then buff it with a soft cloth. There's nothing like a freshly cleaned Vapcap and beautifully polished wood.

Yes it does that, but that isn't what it is for. The condenser allows for the air port and the ability to add air to the vapor mixture. There are some good drawings of how this takes place that I will add to this post if I run in to them.

Added: So the best explanation that I can find at the moment is Georges description of how the OmniVap works, so here is that. The main difference between the Omni and other VCs with a condenser is the omni can be permanently set to a given airflow, and with the others one has to feather the hole manually.

You don't need the condenser for a carb hole, you could take the condenser out of anything except an Omni and it would work just as well. It's only a hole to let air in, it'd just add that air halfway down the tube instead of flowing to the end of the condenser.

Test it yourself if you think I'm wrong, take the condenser out and try using the carb hole, it'll still work the same mate.
I'm pretty sure it's intended function is to keep the outer tube clean, by letting the resin 'condense' in the condenser instead of on the walls of the outer tube. ;-)
