Receiving this today (w/o the atomizer) for use with the Stempod.

http://www.joyetech.com/product/evic-primo-mini-procore-aries/

It is not on the list of devices on page 1 here for the myevic firmware.

- Safe to say I should jump straight to AF or give the myevic install a try as it's in the "Evic" series?

- Also it's my first mod. Worth playing around with the stock firmware 1st while awaiting the Stempod's arrival?

No, switch directly to AF. Primo mini is supported and stock joyetech TC implementation is crap, no need to lose any time playing with that.

Beware, the 510 port on the Primo mini is most probably its Achilles's heel. Try to minimize the number of times you screw/unscrew attys on it. Mine didn't last more than two months and now has wild resistance variations with the iHeat. So much I had to revert to my old evic VTC mini (the one with the resistance reading bug I reported in the previous pages)

Nice mod I looked at that one. Let me know how well it runs in AF.

My Therion displays a resistance value of .37 to .41 at any given time when I turn it on to use my splinter, is this what you are talking about? It's very confusing, I only removed the splinter once ever. The mod is brand new, is this normal? Also it certainly heats differently depending on if I use HG2's or 30Q's

Have you adjusted any settings in escribe? Being a popular mod should be easy find value needed on line. With DNA devices having the mod resistance along with case analyzer helps with proper TC.

Also are you going charge batteries in device if so a custom battery cvs file helps.

I also have FC theme been messing with... still work in progress but if need a copy pm me. Once it's more polished will find somewhere host these profiles.

Also have custom profiles for splinter one TC one watt. Working on stempod.

Been debating if I want to offers complete tweaked settings package. Think better to limit it to only a fc theme and custom profiles for the different vaporizers. This be a easy way least get setting safely to folks. Plus changing a theme or a profile doesn't effect other settings.

It's worth taking the time set it up. With the dna250 3 batteries getting unbelievable battery life. With the custom cvs battery files and other tweaks. Where talking in the hundreds of hits range per charge. Plus with a 2 amp balanced build in battery charging for emergencies if i do happen to need a quick recharge.

Makes for the most efficient use of batteries of any of my other vaporizers. Considering sprinter hits I feel better than a milaana it's currently my favorite performance vape. Takes the best hits from milaana and makes much more constant with out battery sag each hit's great.

Always going enjoy my unregulated vaporizer but I have to say regulated is better. I think people new to convection vaporizers could grab a splinter and get great clouds. Much more easy than a milaana nomad lil bud and other unregulated devices. Without learning to adjust draw speed when to let up on heat etc.

Here's 2 posts made by @HerbieVonVapster on the Splinter thread that should be here for reference. I listed the later post before the earlier post because it has better flow. Herbie, wish I could go back & take these 2 post along with your 5 here & re-order them for flow. Damn, you make informative posts.

Thank you and a good ideal grouping that info in a easy to find post right above this one:) Somehow I missed this thread a lot of early info ended up in a few places. With now working on stempod profiles my mod discussions will be posted here.

Decided to keep software info separated between arctic fox and dna.

Arctic Fox info

Found a copy of arctic fox that works with my mac so order a new mod to use with stempod.

It look's like my mod will run AF. It's not listed as working on tubo
evic software. Seems the main plus for there is cruise. It a nice feature but it kinda turns a convection vaporizer into more conduction with a boost feature.

One of the pluses for me is the convection on demand heat. will be setting AF more towards that feature.

DNA Info.
First if you haven't read my other post linked above. Please at least adjust mods thermal settings and make sure mod resistance is right. Only take couple hours to run the case analyzer it helps with TC. The mod resistance should be able to google it.

Current favorite setup. If the splinter is cold I start in profile 1 that's my manual wattage mode. After a hit or 2 at 30 watts I switch to TC mode.

Watt profile set to 30 watt with 40watt preheat 1.69 seconds with 9.5 preheat punch.
Using SS316

TC mode set to 26watts with 45watt preheat for 1.3 seconds with 11 preheat punch.
Using SS316 coil material.

The setting allow me to pickup the mod and hit fire button. By the time it reaches my mouth it's at the temperature I set (420) The wattage is set at 26 watts using device manager settings to maintain same heat thru out the draw.

The device monitors is such a good tool. Well vaping I can test my draw see it in realtime. Watch what the temperature is. Allows me to adjust settings on what's most comfortable to me. The high preheat allow me to refire if I want a quick temp boost or at end of load.
Might need to shorten puff time to ride residual heat. For now just releasing fire button works.

This allow much more efficient use of batteries. It's only using the amount of wattage to get job done. With the dna250 chip having 97% efficiency and some tweaks I'm getting hundreds of hits off the 3 batteries.

Even debating about charging batteries in this mod. Read you shouldn't do that, but at same time has great charger in it. With custom setting for the battery set i'm using. Some concern about wear tear on usb connection. Have 2 matched sets so more than likely won't. But it's nice option.

Going reset puff count when finished getting settings perfected. Shooting for 420 puffs.

The custom FC themes coming together great. The splinters one in my avatar. My mod starts up with a ape to vape evolution screen, that followed by fuck combustion screen. Have profiles for sprinter with the icon and tweaks listed above.

If anyone needs some custom DNA themes battery cvs icon etc here's a link to download them.

Looking forward to reading your tests on AF with the Stempod. I'll have the same setup when all the hardware gets here.

Thanks for all the notes @HerbieVonVapster

Wow this is some great info. I will definitely play with escribe this weekend and read through all the info in this thread. Didn’t realize this thread existed.

Tossed some settings together. Anyone is welcome to use them. Please do a backup copy first of current settings.

Run (best option) case analyzer or use current settings. Also note mod resistance. Will need to add this info manually.

Please let me know what you think. Suggestion for improvement and changes are welcomed. Works great with the sprinter in TC and watts. Still need make separate screen for them. Currently same screen for both. Thinking reverse current b/w for use as TC one. The custom profiles for stempod should work. Haven't tested but the wire I used in setting's should work great. Adjust temperature to what suits you.

This is basically alpha right now. It's not going damage anything on device. Try it if don't like it reload backup copy. You can save just profiles or theme and reload original settings. Add them after.

Enjoy

Anyone know what "smart mode" is in Arctic Fox and if it should be enabled?

Yes, however, max wattage is only used out of the gate. Once temp is reached, the mod will back off power and just maintain, typically at a much lower value.
Ok. So there's a "max wattage" setting in each profile or for the device? (Using Arctic Fox.) I suppose it's a personal preference setting then? ie heat up time, battery life, etc

@KeroZen, do I only set 50W in only 1 of the profiles or can I set 50W in more that one profile & just change the temp value with the same wattage. As you see, I'm really starting at the very beginning in understanding what temp mode is. Have no feel for it at all yet. So baby steps in explaining & please explain explicitly so I'm crystal clear in what you're saying. ;) :brow:

You could try two TC profiles and one VW profile. Set the first TC profile to use only say max 25W and select any default temperature. Set the second TC profile to use 50W and again any default temperature. Then set the 3rd profile to 30W VW for instance.

When you select the first or second profile, the +/- keys on your mod will allow to select the temperature (in ArticFox you need to tick the checkbox "temperature dominant" for that, in tuboevic/myevic I think no extra step is needed)

While the 3rd profile will allow to change the wattage with the +/- buttons.

Note that there are button press shortcuts to alter the "max watts" parameter of the two TC profiles without going back to the configuration software. But it's more clicks and once you found your preferred value you shouldn't touch it anymore, you just adjust the temperature up and down.

In all cases start low in temperature (or watts) and slowly work your way up 5°C/10°F at a time (or 1W in VW mode)

@Summer - The arctic fox firmware allows for 8 distinct profiles. Each profile is basically a set of values that control the mod function. There is also an 'advanced' tab that contains some settings that act globally. Max wattage is on the advanced tab - no profile can command wattage higher than that limit, but each profile can command a value up to the max. For my DTV3, I keep max watts at 40.0 and profiles use 30 or 35 depending on donut size. When using temp control each of the values for TCR, wattage and temp limit are inputs to some math that decides when to back off the power. This decision is based on the measured change in resistance (doesn't actually have anything to do with the actual atomizer temp) from the cold locked value and it's current resistance. The TCR value is a representation of how much the resistance changes per degree of temperature rise of a given material. Stainless wire changes a little when heating up so it has a small TCR value, but nickel changes a lot, so it's TCR value is higher. The wattage tells the mod how much to apply when trying to reach the set temperature limit. You can think of this in terms of a car perhaps. When you press down on the accelerator, the car speeds forward (profile watts value), but the speed limit (temp limit) is rapidly approaching, so you back off the gas pedal as you reach the limit and only keep it pressed enough to keep you at the limit.

I think it's worth noting here, that IMO, the most valuable feature of arctic fox firmware is the PI regulation. The stock firmware acts like a light switch when it hits temp protection and with a high wattage number can be somewhat rude to the atomizer (30->0->30->0) while the PI regulation has much better control of the power curve (30->15->12->12.5->13->12.2) . This allows for much smaller variance holding temp. PI regulation is controlled by another set of values and is setup by pressing the setup button next to temp control in the profile editor. The % value controls when the PI regulation code kicks in - keep this at 0 unless you are messing with pre-heat curves. The P and I values are somewhat dependent on what's being temperature controlled. For the DTV3 donuts I use P=900 and I=20.
