Geez just discovered something terrible. Some how my cloud has been wounded. The glass broke off just below the gong joint. I'm guessing no cure for that. :(

Jeff, I am truly sorry for your loss. You can try contacting VapeXhale but I don't think they can repair the original Cloud models any more. Time for an EVO . . . :)

so i broke my beloved natty neck upgrid king stem sovereignty last night... my vapexhale milked it like a bong rip..... i also had a bent neck (Flat top, instead of domed like the natty neck) G LINE (two small stemlines side by side isntead of one big one.) and its downgrid (holes fire downward.)
but my vapexhale can barely milk it, its super wispy and totally see through. now im hving a dilemma where im scared to buy my next bong because if it doesn't milk like 90% as good as a bong rip i really cant use the vape because it wont satisfy me and i cant find an exact replacement.... i found a piece just like my old one same size and shape, but with an upgrid G line isntead of an up grid stemline. the gline "stacks" higher.

my question for y'all is this: what do you think is the most likely cause of the whispy vapor in my downgrid g line compared to the upgrid natty kingstem? is it the flat top, the downgrid, or the g line (which has like 16 more holes than the stemline)? i dont want to buy a piece that looks exactly the same as mine but with a different perc only for the perc to be the issue, not the shape. i dont want to buy a piece with the same perc, but a flat top instead of a domed top only to have the shape of the piece be the issue. i know everyone here doesn't collect sovereignty glass, but in your vapor-bonging experience, what causes the loss of vapor most? shape/size of piece, up/downgrid, or perc? im worried the G line will have too much diffusion and make my vapor whispy.

Hmm it's hard to say @Moogly I have a Natty Gline 75mm upgrid and it milks up quite nice anywhere that's 11 or higher on the dial, even a bit lower.

Silicone tubing. I have a unit broken like that and going to put in a box with a whip coming from it.

Best I could think of

Yes, a champ. Just ground up some fresh purple kush I harvested yesterday. Put the Cloud on high and let it warm up for a bit. Slapped the kush in. Three or four pulls later clouds start forming. Then real nice clouds. Stirred once then a few more nice clouds. For fresh cut, just a real nice experience.

And what other vaporizer laughs at the challenge of wet herb?!

Never understood why they gave up the awesome design of the Cloud for the Evo... one of the reasons I never thought to buy one Evo, but I was thinking to buy an old Cloud, I know a shop getting it in stock... may be able to get a good price.... since I sold/traded my Cloud I regret it, I loved the feeling I got when in my hands!

I had one of the first retail clouds I believe. I loved that thing. To the max. Eventually they could not repair it anymore and had to get Cloud+. Alas, that broke and had to get Evo. But I love them all the same. But I do miss the metal block in the center.

Because it's better that way? Yes, I also liked the old look more, but only slightly and that's not really important. It's better for practical reasons.
I think my hands are slightly more sensitive to heat, and I couldn't even hold my old Cloud after it was on for a while. It was just hot all over.
The old enclosure was also much more difficult to assemble and prone to asembly misalignments (this even killed my bamboo as the metal was pushing on it because it was misaligned).
The higher weight felt good with a hydratube, but also was more exhausting to hold, and for inverted use, its definitely better that it's lighter.
The first EVO bamboos didn't work as well and OG, but the current ones are on par with the OG.
The EVO has vents, the OG didn't.
Plastic enclosure is way more affordable.
The OG paint was flaking off, it it looked better than EVO, when the paint starts going off, it looks horrible.

Manufacturing cost, support cost, stronger user/market appeal, etc. I still have my OG, for sure, it's a beast and it still works great. But its weight and heat make it better suited for hard-core vapers. While the EVO may not be the friendliest of vapes, it's a lot more comfortable to use than the OG. And once I upgraded my unit about a year later after release, it has been super reliable.

Both my OG and Vectra Evo are first-run units. Maybe someday they will be sought after Classics that I can sell for a small fortune? :D

I preferred mine as well. And though we still own both units, I was fine leaving the EVO at a friend’s place but I kinda hoard/protect my older Cloud.

Yeah, I very much agree that the big heat mass from the metal made the difference when it came to my personal preference! That’s one of the things people have mentioned about the Glass Symphony’s big glass mass (bigglassmass?!) and I really enjoy that vape as well.

Seemed like a bit of a double-edged sword for the Cloud though: we were excited about the product, probably preordered, and either observed or engaged in discussion about it here or similar. It’s not like we had tougher hands than the average person or our units didn’t get as hot, but the community here provided great homemade solutions (silicone wristbands around the grab space) and then VXL followed through and shipped branded versions with the RPP at no additional cost. Before that, or if I were making recommendations to a broad audience, I’d have been a bit hesitant to recommend it to someone who was new to vaping.

I prefer the original design over the EVO, but I still agree with almost everything you said. No issues with paint flaking here - mine is only really worn through the black on the bottom centers of the feet. I did use it almost exclusively inverted in a Mobius Clear Matrix bubbler with the Cloud Buddy claisen adapter as a carb. It makes me kinda sad (in a totally selfish way) that originally it was advertised as invertable which was part of the appeal to me but now that usage is now recommended against.

The continued success of the company and the longevity of the design revisions speak for themselves though: this vape has found appeal with a wide audience. Investment in this market has blown up since the Cloud debuted, as well as awareness/popularity of vaporizing as an alternative to smoking. I’m happy to see them continue to succeed because they advanced the market IMO.

Yup!

Everyone’s comments here are well-founded even if we may quibble on a point of two, which makes for an intersting discussion.

Great write up! I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. And as a mobius ion/cloud buddy user I also want to highlight the new idea that the cloud shouldn't be inverted. The idea you could replace any 18mm slide with the cloud was the whole point... IMO

Thank you!

For me, it was kind a big deal that I could use the Cloud inverted > bubbler setup while sitting down kicked back in bed. I’m short and my housemate, friends, and I were used to passing around a Volcano bag. There was no way I would have been into the idea of trying to coordinate a stoner conga line to march to and stand over a Cloud + Hydratube stack. It would have been a glass on glass disaster!

I’ve been using my cloud Evo inverted. I have a hydrabase so. I’m not about to use some silicon whip or anything. That defeats the purpose of the all glass air path* (* stainless steel elb not talked about it). LOL.

Anyhow, I really do wish I had my original cloud. I miss that sucker. No fault of my own, that shit just wasn’t reliable for me.

Lastly, yes I love VapeXhale as a company and recently they’ve showed me their commitment to customer service, so I’m really happy they are doing awesome!

Not if VXL goes out of business. The Cloud OG wasn't a viable business. As it is, appears that VXL just gets by with the EVO (which is likely why there hasn't yet been a portable).

:myday::peace:

The first part of your post does not make any sense. The cloud and the evo (two models of vaporizers) were invented and sold by the same people (owners of vapexhale). The manufacturer contracted to make the cloud attempted to rip off such owners. The owners sued and prevailed. Such owners could have continued to sell clouds. However, they chose to create the Evo instead. They think it is an upgrade. My point is simply that the Evo is not an upgraded product performance wise. Really, the only thing that got better was that the bamboo is more easily replaced.

As to why Vapexhale has not created a portable, I agree the company is much better off not doing so--and spending tons of money in doing so--until the company needs a new product line to stay profitable and competitive; the evo is state of the art and just making money on it is the smarter move.

Can I get a source for this? Because that's not what happened.

:peace:

Well, tell me your version, but I'm an attorney and spoke with Siebo about the manufacturer selling Cloud units without authorization. He said there was court action to stop it. I gave him my two cents about how to get an injunction. Tell me where I am wrong...

Please note, "prevail" means just getting the manufacturer to stop unauthorized sales. It doenst mean there was trial and judgment; I sue people all the time, and 95% of the time the case settles.

In this case, it's obvious vapexhale prevailed because the unauthorized sales of units stopped. I specifically pointed Seibo to the link where the units were being sold on Ebay for a short while for about $100....
