Arizer Solo II

So after using only my solo for the last few days since I've received it I have to say that I'm quite content with my purchase.
It's my only conduction unit besides the fury, which I barely use as the vapor is too harsh and battery life is poor + I don't like sucking on plastic. I got vapcaps but I don't count them as traditional conduction units, or better saying traditional session based units.

I get good vapor from the first to the last hit, starting at temps as low as 160c, finishing around 195c. Going beyond 200 gets too hot and abv too dark.
Microdosing is great with the inserted screen. I actually never fully loaded the glass stem.
Let's see how battery life will be in the future. I'm still on my first charge with like 6-7 sessions so far. My sessions aren't that long though as I don't have too much material.
Taste really is superb and lasts quite long!

I'm looking into buying either one of those black stems or a eds TNT wooden Stem. Any recommendations?

Black stems are highly recommended, Ed's stems are best for the OG Solo.

Have you tried the F2 glass stem? Basically a smaller version of the Solo/Air bent stems. Very similar 'all glass vapor path' performance. In fact, even more so than Solo/Air since there's no heated seal?

No I haven't tried that as I found it to expensive to buy in Europe / didn't find a good offer.
But now that I have the solo I don't feel the need to buy a fury glass stem. Fury is good for stealth outside and I think the standard plastic mouthpiece is the best way for that kind of use.

I feel like the notches In the stems/gongs are useless.

I have the 18mm gong from puffitup that works pretty well but noticed that the glass was chipping off at the notches.

I decided to order one directly from Arizer with no notches. IMO it works better creating more of a seal and
quite honestly airflow seems the same.

I agree. The notches prevent your tipping the stem to control the restriction (get maximum density). Vapor only happens as fast as heat is conducted into the load. Honking on it gets more volume (of course), but those 'huge clouds' are less dense, contain less THC that hitting for the same time at a lower rate.......

Drawing in a bunch of cold air with strong draws not only dilutes the vapor by adding more air in, but that air steals heat that would otherwise make more vapor!! It may be showy, and better mimic blazing (where more air increases the fire and therefore heat, rather than lowering it) experiences but IMO if you want best control and densest vapor go slow. Watch the guys who make videos 'milking their glass' fill their vapes SLOWLY.

"Huge clouds" and 'dense vapor' can be mutually exclusive, and IMO are here. And with other conduction vapes. True convection vapes, OTOH, draw in air that's already hotter than the load so they don't end up diluting the output while increasing it's volume in the same time frame.

It's also worth considering that all manner of 'draw resistance' were no doubt well tested by Arizer in development......they did an excellent job with the other aspects, right? Still 'the customer is always right', they took out 'true PA' and gave us 'use while charging' for that reason.

"Be careful what you ask for" comes to mind. You should get what makes you happy, of course, but consider all the aspects?

Regards to all.

A speck here or there but nothing substantial I find inside.

Tip... Insert loaded stem with unit upside down when desired temp is reached as recommended by Arizer. But then don't turn it back over until after you take your first hit. I find that keeps the herb stuck together we'll. When I'm done I also remove stem upside down as well before it cools down to keep spent hearb from dislodging and falling inside.

Got my solo2.

Used it 4 times.

Compared to the arizer air 1 draw resistance... It hasn't improved much if at all imho.

But... I think the battery and heater are going to make up for that. Hitting it is fine with draw technique and agile lips.

I am going to drill a hole in one of my stems. I'm good with vapcaps, so I'm hoping to get to that type of draw. It's not that far off now with lip manouvers.

Works great for hemp. I'd be far gone if I used regular cannabis with this.

Build etc. Is top notch as usual.

I’d be careful with drilling any holes in the stems. These units aren’t built to have a super free flow draw.

I don't think you'll find anyone to disagree with that. There was a change about the time Air came out as I recall, since then Solo and Air (and now ArGo) have had the larger holes.

I second IRB above, but not for the same reason. Drilling glass is not trivial. You need diamond drills. Several guys reported breaking the web in the process. Perhaps you should consider the 'turbo' PVHES instead? The 'you can only make vapor so fast, as fast as heat can conduct in' point is a valid one still, but if the goal is less resistance (rather than more vapor, faster), that's one way to get it? The PVHES, of course, gets even bigger restriction reduction with the grooves and notches, more than you can get by drilling it out alone (which I guess is why they do it?).

At any rate, glad you're enjoying your Solo II, it's a good one for sure.

Yeah, i have the air from before they made the change to the bowl. I've also had 2 pvhes stems. Both chipped at the bowl teeth. One casually and the other from a decent tip over.

I just drilled my stem. I have my air stem, 3 new stems, and 2 black stems on the way. So I wasnt too worried about breaking it. I've drilled holes in glass with my Dremel only twice before both time were surprisingly easy. Just out the stem in a bowl of water and drill with the bit underwater. I even re-entered the hole after it was made... Which was scarey haha.

Trying my second bowl of hemp now. The first one I packed I had thought I had packed tight... But didn't notice too much of a different when covering the hole.

This one 8m trying now... Packed with a mound over the brim and packed to fit... Pretty tight draw not inside the solo.

Edit: didn't mean to post this... Will have a pic of my stem and a review of the recent pack. Soon.

Edit 2 post bowl. Indifferent. Tried a few hits at 390, holding the hole, not holding the hole, and holding the hole and then releasing mid draw. Pretty much the same vapor every time... Less clouds than loose packing. I'll have to play around more to decide if I should do this to other stems.

Edit 3. On bow 4. 3rd bowl was a reg stem loose packed. Then 4th I'm on now... Carbed stem loose packed. I feel better with it this way... I have sensation e lungs. I kind of think I get more vapor with the carb. It just feels more natural to me. I'm going to do it to a bent stem at some point. Hopefully it goes smoothly.

When stem was packed hard the air seemed to just flow through the carb instead of the bowl... Which is science... Haha. But when packed loosely it seems to work good.... After doing two back to back... The carb has the lead for my lungs. But still pack plays a huge role. The carb is just the right size for a natural feel I think. I can still open my lips for less resistance if needed.

Bent stem... May have over flamed it.
