Agreed. When they sent my replacement unit, they suggested I try the old and new one side by side for a week or two. No harsh demands for the old one to be returned.

Welp, this review has taken longer than I anticipated to come to fruition but I really wanted get to know this girl before I give my opinion. Also things have been pretty hectic for me lately and I wanted to be able to take the time to be thorough so I have held off until now so i can give it a proper write-up.

I did have shipping trouble when this journey first started but to be fair that was mostly due to UPS's inadequacies with a dash of Ghost's email system acting up. But I was able to find them on Bud's forum and get everything squared away so no big deal in the end.

My first impression out the box was even better than I anticipated. The look to me is futuristic, which I love and doesn't look as tacky as I thought it would in person since I had to go with nickel because black chrome was sold out The weight of the unit is up there compared to others but I like to think it's the same as how higher end cellphones tend to be heavier, just better construction and materials. Also you gotta remember it's got two 18650s in it. Those things ain't light by themselves, but the unit sans battery has some heft to it and i like that. I don't plan on dropping it but it seems like it would be fine even with the added weight bringing it to the floor harder.

My first time when I went to use it, it was pretty hard to open to the point of after the second time of closing it and opening it to see if I could loosen it I could no longer get it open Luckily I instantly reached for my trusty channel lock plyers and a cloth to protect the device and proceeded to open it with them and close it about ten or fifteen times and after that it's a breeze to open. I'll admit it was pretty frustrating especially since I'm not weak by any means. For reference my max deadlift right now is 420(I know right, lol), which isn't elite level of strength or anything but it's way above average Joe for sure. So imagine if I actually had a medical issue with my hands or was elderly or smaller weaker person I probably would have not gotten it open at all to begin with. When I mentioned it to them they assured me they check the units before sending them but for some reason they haven't figured out why occasionally there are ones like mine. I'm assuming employee incompetence which can be expected everywhere just kinda irritating I had to bust out a tool to use my new 300 dollar vape. Never had that experience before.

Now onto me actually getting to use this BEAST. And yes I do mean that, that's why I had to capitalize it. This fucking thing is a certified monster. I go for clouds that's what I need. Not just for the narcotic benefit it gives me from using high temps which are needed for my pain management from a couple injuries I'm recovering from but also the cloud is satisfying to me. I don't mind coughing a little and I love watching the cloud as it spreads and dissipates it's one of my favorite parts of when I use to smoke so to have that helps with the mental satisfaction. That's what this thing does and it does extremely well.

I fooled around with the lower settings just to see how they produce but they were mostly disappointing. Then I did what I should have from the start. Loaded up a fresh one and put it on max on the first rip and ohhh baby This thing punched me right in the fucking face with the biggest cloud I could ever imagine would come from a portable and so damn flavorful my entire nasal passages and mouth was just coated in tasty lip smacking terpenes It was definitely cloud esque 100 percent as I had hoped for. I get one super huge flavorful hit at top temp and one more big ass hit that's not bad but nowhere near what the first was and then two whispy bastards if I wanna get it dark brown all with stirs after every hit. Stir is one hundred percent mandatory as is making sure the screen holes are free in between hits otherwise the load has charred spots and some still green. This is honestly my only problem with the thing at this point. I wish the whole crucible was ceramic because the bottom part I still haven't needed to clean because it doesn't effect taste and the holes never get clogged. I think the lid being steel contributes to the vaping with a bit of conduction so that probably won't happen but if they could get a lid with slightly bigger holes it might not have to be poked clean every rip. But that also probably won't happen because I'm sure the holes are the size they are because it's needed to restrict the air enough to where the heated air isn't passing through too quickly. It's not a major problem because I've gotten quite good at poking them clean with the safety pin I now have pinned on me at all times but I could see a less dexterous person having a hard time enjoying this vape because stirring is essential and at the highest temp like I like it's completely essential to have every hole poked clean or it will char the load in spots and you also don't get anywhere near the cloud you get with clean holes.

Now a little insight as to how I hit it because even though you can get good vapor production at any draw rate the way I do it gives huge clouds. Every time I start a session I back the stem all the way out then stick it back in till the two slits just pass the visible black rubber seal. This is the ideal position from what I've found for maximum clouds. Then from that position with a slow but steady draw rate continue on until the shut off buzzer and you should be on cloud nine that you created

I've tried more restricted draws by pushing it in further but they are never as big and also what's the point if this baby is all about less draw restriction. I've also had more than a handful of "ghost" hits from having heatsink issues which is how I've come to the method of pulling the mouth piece all the way out and making sure the slits are in just the right spot before I start which has solved that problem for me but hopefully I'll have a new heatsink soon so that won't be an issue either in time.

Also I almost forgot I have a weird battery issue where my light doesn't go off to let me know it's done charging but they said give it a week to see if it fixes itself or they'll give me a spare free of charge so now here it is a week later and it's still happening so they are shipping out a spare no questions asked. Stellar customer service

Initially I also noticed that I wasn't getting the same performance as the battery got lower especially past 50 percent but after I updated the firmware to v1.3.4 it chucks clouds even when it's at one blinking green light which means it's supposed to be on the charger and she's still giving so it seems they finally have things worked out with the firmware.

All in all, is this vape perfect? No. But no vape is. Is this vape for everyone? Probably not. But if you are a tasty cloud connoisseur that is in the market for a portable that gives a huge cool rip that is better than some desktops and is truly Cloud Evo esque in performance then look no further. It's truly beautiful being able to go out on the deck and take a huge faceripper then enjoy the sights and sounds of my beautiful backyard that lines some woods after a hard day. This device makes that possible and for that it will always have a place in my heart

If this is the future of vapes I can't wait to see what comes out next. We're in a beautiful time vaporents, enjoy

All and all, if I could prevent overheating by changing draw speed, that would be great. But unfortunately that doesn't have an impact.

And, really, a top tier vape should not have an extensive instruction manual to prevent malfunctions....

I hope your replacement is on its way and it works like mine because yours is definitely faulty. As a point of reference I have huge lungs so I take a full draw till the timer runs out let go of the button just for a second to reinitiate the heater and keep going for a MONSTER hit that is basically like using my Cloud Evo and even then I've never experienced overheating.

This did remind me of a funny story from my first night of testing with the ghost. The thing got me so blitzed I forgot how to use it. I was so outta of it that I was ignoring the first little vibration and using the first long vibration as the start up vibration and the second long vibration as the one to start hitting so I wasn't getting anything and the lights were amber (obviously because it had shut off, lol) and this happened probably 3 times before I had the heatsink out of it to see if the heater was still lighting up and then it dawned on me that I was starting my draw too late

Nope, two reds. But according to the app, 3 reds(concentrate mode) is the same temperature as two reds(max flower mode). It definitely makes me cough but it's not cause it's hot or anything so it's totally enjoyable

I'm kinda still stuck in the gotta cough to get off crew ya know? Maybe one day that will change but as long as it's not smoke I'm not too worried about it. I've taken a lung capacity test recently and my score was maxed out so it seems that I'm not doing any damage as of yet and old damage from when i did combust has obviously healed so fuck it. Only live once might as well be satisfied while I'm here, right?

Well, there you go. Failures happen and the difference is in how CS handles it. Sounds like they were very responsive to you.

Yes, but its a completely different heating cycle than the flower temps with a pre-heat cycle then a draw cycle (but you probably already know this! Ah, its great being redundant! LOL)

Glad you are liking your MV1. I have two and both have worked splendidly for me.

Yes, I wish for a bit more even AVB without stirring...but mostly on aesthetic grounds as I believe my loads really are fully extracted and the few bits of green on top don't amount to anything really.

But so far mine are working very well with no issues and that's with either the OG heat sink or the new one that I got as part of beta team. Frankly, I never had an issue with my OG heat sinks/MPs.

After it's warmed up it heats up almost instantly to the point where if you're new to it you would think it's still heating up when in reality it's ready to go and you're waiting on what you think is the first buzz but it's actually the second so then it won't let you hit it because you just ran a cycle.

That's not what's happening. I'll give an update in a bit and post a video.

It's better than the last unit but it is overheating when I vape a few crucibles in a row. This unit is initially making it about 3 crucibles in a row on level two red, causal pace and easy draw. Admittedly this is pretty heavy use for some.

Once overheated, it's hard to get through another whole crucible even after a waiting for it to cool down a bit.

I'm trying all different techniques, including hitting it hard and soft, longs draws and slow draws. I hope I can just adjust the way I use it and make it work.

Overall, the vapor is great.

I'd ask them to send you one more replacement unit to be sure be sure it's not the unit. Since this one is better, tell them you will send the 1st unit back in the interim.

But 1st, which I just thought of, pm Mark (ghost-ops) on VLF & ask him to do a skype session with him. I did one when I was having probs. This way you can run through vaping a crucible or 2 with him so he can assuredly see if it's the vape by seeing your technique. If he thinks it's the vape, he'll put through a CS voucher for you, makes it that much easier for you &, obviously, his requests go straight through.

Personally, from what you describe I think it's the vape. But before I'd contact Mark, I would do these 3 things (since you've done everything you stated above):

1) do a sesh on level 3; one on a combo of 3 & 4 (1/2 & 1/2, ascending levels), & one on level 4 & see what happens as far as overheating on each of these. It maybe turn out that this vape is unable to handle the amount you like to vape at this continuous heat level OR there may need to be a firmware update to correct whatever is happening at this intense heat & duration vaping level.

2) This is just a personal curiosity, don't know why, but, when it overheats, let it cool down sufficiently & if it still shows overheating when you turn it on again (like you described above), try switching to your other battery & see if the flashing lights cease.

3) As level 5 is a really hot level, you want to be sure you have a steady draw of cooler air circulating around the heater, so, inhale with a rather swift, but steady/even/smooth. Don't do a hard draw as you said above -- it's not a marathon. Just relax into the hit, don't stress over it, if it overheats it overheats. The lower the heat level the slower you inhale. It's convection after all.

If after trying these, along with everything you've tried, then, when you contact Mark, you'll be able to cut-to-the-chase, as you'll already done a thorough analysis to present him with.

Not to worry, Brewer, this will get all straightened out in a short time, you'll see.

So since I wrote that post, I switched the battery and started at level 3 amber. I got about 8 or 9 draws on the first crucible. Nice clouds too. Then I got 2 draws on the second crucible and overheat....

Two things I notice:
First, the last draw or two before overheating feels like the level rises on it's own. That's the best way I can describe it. I get a few consistent clouds then right before it overheats I get a couple clouds that are way more dense and large (like at a higher level) and then overheat.

Second, once it overheats once it takes forever to cool back down. For example, my description above at level 3 amber.

I think I'll try a video with a laser thermometer.

Well, that sounds like it could be the what the issue is. I would pm ghosts-op, say what you need to & then link him over to your 1st post here on the new unit & tell him to continue to read downward. In case you don't know how, click on the post # on the lower right & the box will appear with a direct link to your post. Just copy it.

But in the interim, continue to do what you said, if only out of curiosity. Try the thermometer, get a vid. together, after the unit overheats, turn it off, & then set it down next to a clock, then pause the recording. After ever how long later you decide, start the vid so the elapsed time on the clock is seen & turn the unit on to show the extended non-cool down. A pic is worth a 1000 words.

My friend, if you are indeed getting good dense vapor on amber temp levels then it doesn't sound like an air leak in your heat sink which is often a cause of overheat but in conjunction with no/wispy vapor.

I think perhaps your unit may have an issue and Ghost will have to sort it for you. Matter of fact, it may not even be overheating...may just be a faulty temp sensor.

They will get your straightened out and I believe you will be happy with your purchase once this is cleaned up.

Yep, tag ghost-ops on VLF or just open a ticket with them.

How many of you can run 2 back to back crucibles on the hottest flower (2 reds?) setting? I thought that was the problem right away with brewervapesalot's issue. Seems like way to much to ask for that vape to handle?

When I used the MV1....mine ran slightly hot and I only needed to use green heat settings for a full load.

@LabPong, what greens are you talking about? There's only amber & red ... 1 - 6 on the heat settings.

Sorry...I got the colors for heat temps wrong....been too long since I used the MV1. I mean the lowest settings....so starting at 2 amber and then 3 amber to finish the load.

How many of you can run 2 back to back crucibles on the hottest flower (2 reds?) setting? I thought that was the problem right away with brewervapesalot's issue. Seems like way to much to ask for that vape to handle?

When I used the MV1....mine ran slightly hot and I only needed to use green heat settings for a full load.

Brewervapesalot.........can you get decent vapor if you start at 2 greens..then go to 3 greens or 1 amber for the full crucible?

The best I've got is about 2-3 crucibles on level two red. That's when the unit hasn't been used at all for a few hours. Once over heated, unless I wait hours I get 1-2 two more crucibles, and as said above that includes level three amber.

I'll try again tonight starting on level two amber and see what happens.

If I'm just vaping more than it can handle, I just want to know. But this is like my third or fourth unit. The first one or two didn't produce vapor very consistently (definitely one had heat sink assembly issuues) but didnt overheat like this--when used the same way.

These last two units, it's the opposite problem. Great vapor. Just overheating.

If more people wouldn't mind watching the videos, I'd appreciate it. I dont want to return this unit if I'm doing something wrong.... I just dont think i am. This is because a prior unit or two I had didnt overheat with same use.

Again, tag Ghost on VLF. Either you have a defective unit or perhaps they will suggest using the manual calibration routine to cool your unit off by about 10%. Ask them about that, yeah?

Brewervapesalot....it did seem like you were drawing way too hard in the vid. That is why I am wondering what happens if you use heat setting 2 amber for a couple draws...then heat setting 3 amber for the finish. Then draw a bit slower and use the full time to vibration shut off for every draw. Then what happens with heating issue?
