PAX Era by PAX Labs

Somebody needs to come out with clone era pods, this is crazy

I know. I can't believe someone hasn't made a compatible clone yet.

Has anyone tried the Stiiizy brand pre-filled pods? I'm pretty sure they are only in California. I've been very impressed with them. But I've realized their quality has nothing to do with Stiiizy's oil. It's their pods. Ceramic "wicks" and very open airflow.

I realized the "magic" was in the pod after refilling it for the first time with stronger oil. And it was very easy to refill. Even with Stiiizy's pre-installed oil, an 8 second hit was basically a "dab". Now, there's only one temperature setting. But I really like the open airflow and taste coming through these ceramic pods.

I'd either like to see someone make Era or Stiiizy empty pod clones, or a good system that sells empty pods with a variable temp battery. I just find the experience of Stiiizy or Era pods to be much better than 510 cart offerings.

The kandypens rubi is similar to an era or stiizy with ceramic coils and refillable pods but no temp control or variable voltage I love the app on the era and it's fun to have the pax3 for flower and era for concentrates

I reviewed the Stiiizy and pods on youtube before they deleted my channel.
The video and article of the Stiiizy review is still available here if you're interested.

I haven't refilled Stiiizy, but I saved the empties just in case.

I strongly endorse refilling Stiiizy pods. Stiiizy's oil is ok. But their pods are fantastic and easier to refill than other pod systems. I refilled with a syringe from Pure Vapes and it was much better than the OEM oil.

Thanks!! How difficult is it? I tried to open an Era pod but couldn't figure it out.

I refill Juul pods. They are a huge pain in the ass. The Stiiizy pods are far easier in comparison. You just put pressure on the wide side of the mouthpiece until it just pops off. Don't be afraid of breaking it. The polycarbonate can take a lot of pressure.

Just make sure you put the little rubber piece on the same way you found it.

Just got one of these directly from Pax. I really wanted to LOVE this vape, but I'm having issues. To be fair, I've only tried one pod so far (9 lb hammer #6), and only for a couple of nights. The vape is performing as expected, but I have trouble with the vapor -- it causes me to cough, even with shallow draw at low temp (450F). I'm not sure if this is due to the heat of the vapor of perhaps some chemical content.

My hope was to hit this vape once or twice when I am awake at 3-4 AM (every night) to ease me back to sleep. I will keep experimenting with temp settings and draw technique. Perhaps I just need to use it more to build a tolerance to the vapor.

Replying to my own post: I just got one of the Leaf-Werx pods -- 9 Pound Hammer #6. This is supposed to be a CO2 extraction product. It produces thick vapor with expected effects, but causes me to have coughing fits. (see most recent post above).

Could you be drawing too slowly? That's a formula for thicker vapor with the Pax Era.

It feels intuitively like a faster draw means MORE extraction, but it can be the key to thinner vapor.

As a microdose, a quick 1/5th or even 1/10th of a full breath, releasing the lips and taking the rest of the inhale, works nicely, without cough or harshness. A slow draw, even if shallow, can be too intense..

As we all most probably know, comparing pre-filled Era pods across state lines is not valid. Pods need to be filled in the state where the contents were grown/extracted and then sold in that state.

My state of MD's med program is still fairly new...into it about 6 months now...and just this week the first dispensary I have seen to carry Era had a launch party. Now, this dispensary, in MD's system, is also licensed grower and processor (extractor/infuser/etc). They exclusively do fractional distillate (very clean) for their 510 ceramic heater carts and I can't imagine them filling Era pods with anything else.

So, what would be the advantage to me....just smaller and more stealth than my mods and 510 carts??

Being an older med patient, not sure I see a good value proposition for me personally in this device.

Games!

Seriously, smaller and more stealth are its key differentiators from 510 carts. There's a distillate quality control aspect, but that's not a factor when carts by the same growers and processors are available. There's also a consistency aspect, some carts decline in taste and quality. If you get consistent, satisfactory results to the last drop already, I don't see any remaining benefit to the Pax Era.

Cost? The Pax Era is kind of a stinker. But there are almost inexplicable price reductions afoot in the California market, that finally brought me into the Pax Era camp. Oh and the games.

Yes, I'm getting good CO2 in CCell carts that is indeed good to the last drop and distillate in very similar, but not CCell brand, from another source.

I'll look at the Era but not seeing it for me as its advantages don't really do much for how/where I vape.

Cheers

For me personally, but for out and about use only, I switched from 510 carts to the ERA because it has temp control, auto draw, battery status via the app, never leaked, all the carts I've tried provided great flavor and cloud production but also important for me, it does not have soft ceramic at its core. I made a personal decision to favor the era wick over the many different types of Chinese 510 ceramic atomizers that I have dissected. I was never able to find any 510 carts with alumina.
But I don't use it enough to where the cost difference between fill it yourself type carts and ERA pods makes a significant difference for me.

Interesting, I’ll have to give that a try. I was also experimenting with puffing on it like a cigar, holding the vapor in my mouth and then inhaling. That didn’t work.

Just got my era and a couple of pods. How do people like/use the carb holes on the side? I’ve been leaving them open as I draw but guessing that covering one or both will increase the potency if the hit? Leaving them open gets me plenty high in one big draw but maybe covering them and shorter hits would make more sense. Also, since I have to travel a ways to get the pods, anyone have a guess as to number of draws they get from a pod? Thx!

I just recently discovered the carb holes. Close one carb on a slow draw for a few seconds and you get a pretty nice taste.

yes I've tried a few flavors from both. Leafwerx(og kush, soul assassin og, Ak-47, black afghani rose) Dabstract(tropicana cookies and strawberry banana). I think My favorites were soul assassin (nice limey flavor) and strawberry banana (tasted like strawberry banana laffy taffy).

So far, I’ve only sampled two: 9 lb hammer and Dutch Treat. Flavor wise, the Hammer has a deisel taste, or maybe it’s the butane solvent. DT tasted much better.

Seriously considering the Pax Era but no pods for sale where I am so I will have to refill. I have gone through several Rubi's but they always seem to leak. For those who refill the Era pods, how much of a PITA is it & how often do your refilled pods fail?

We were discussing this over the last couple of pages, so just read backward a bit and you should have your answers.

Best pod strain i’ve tried so far: Sunset Sherbert by Dabstract (WA state). The vapor is a lot smoother and actually tasty compared to other strains/producers I’ve tried, maybe b/c this one is “live resin”?

^Yeah LLR (liquid live resin) is extracted from undried, fresh-frozen, live plants. So it will contain many more ephemeral terps with high volatility points than any extract from dried material, even dried nugs.

My question is for anyone here, in regards to the accuracy of the smartphone temp control, who has tried it at the same sub-400’F temps they used to run their digital volcano at ? And how does the corresponding vapor compare to said digital volcano vapor in terms of taste, texture, smoothness, or effects ?

I think pods with more open airflow and ceramic wicks are coming for the era. Perhaps even with glass/quartz/etc pods themselves for super-high-terpene LLR or HTFSE.
