Most likely the bowl is too tall with the amount of heat your torch is capable of. To give you some reference, here is the bowl I use....it is shorter than the stock one as you can see.....yours looks much taller than the stock one.

Ujzrdv0.jpg

And more important to how a bowl will work besides size and height above screen....is the exit! I like to have a free flowing straight airpath over as much of the load as possible. Notice the size of the outlet below your screen.....the stock one has a pinched area and much smaller outlet.

stock bowl is on the left, the one I use is in the center. I use the other only for my flowerpot with concentrates.
1ER8Skh.jpg

I use a Blazer Big Buddy Turbo......I highly suggest this torch as it puts out a good amount of heat and I only need to use it on the lowest possible setting. The Blazer Big Shot is even stronger and I feel it is over kill as it uses more fuel....but you can get quicker times to full heat.....I just dont mind the time it takes with the Buddy Turbo.

Great post, but I have no idea how to obtain this better bowl. Could you tell us?

I recently got an Elev8r from Zow237 in the classifieds. I have a Supreme 3, but I wanted to try this one out - and it definitely has different effects. It is very free flowing, so I have to try to inhale slowly to start. One thing I don't like is that material sticks to the sides of the WPA bowl (haven't tried the wand yet, but it looks like the same shape). After the first hit, I shake to stir, but the bud on the sides sticks to the screen/glass. I cannot dislodge it unless I take the hot heater off. Not convenient. I think the bowl could be improved and the diagram that you provided looks like it would work. Where can I get it?

Thanks.

Here it is from UK not sure of postage costs though.
https://vapefiend.co.uk/collections/glass-adapters/products/18mm-female-to-14mm-male-adapter

Yes for sure the need to stir, loosen herb at times when it can get lodged, and the non-immediate load access and required patience/concentration are the main if not only downsides to this vape for me, ESPECIALLY with the coil now resting on my sick clip making it super hot.

But the prize for nailing it is fantastic vapor and effects. But when you load it, try and loosen it up first then after first hit give it an immediate shake or tip it about to keep herb from sticking to edges. If you get past hit 1 and it is loose enough in there, it tends to stay that way.

Good luck man thanks for dropping by and sharing.

Alexis's link is the exact shape adapter you need. I found a few at a local shop...so I bought all of them. I have seen them on dhgate, but do not recall where.

They are just common simple adapters you can find almost anywhere, but the shape of this one is important to stick to. Look at the area below the sanded section and where the clear glass starts....that is the little bulge area that holds the screen. Some of these adapters have really wide bulges there....those are the ones you do not want. They tend to keep the herbs on the outside from being extracted and you have to stir much more than normal.

You will have to stir the load after the first draw or two. At that point most of the "stickiness" has gone and you can shake up the load and mix it well at that point. But you will always have to stir the load a few times if you want perfect draws with as much taste and even extraction.

So to make things more easy for using the Elev8r...... it is best to have something to grab the hot ass heater piece off and quickly stir the load. I use a simple piece of suede that is 2 x 3 inches in size, folded in half so it has 2 layers between your fingers and the glass piece. You can also use leather or some hide material to make a small oven mit to grab the heater and put it somewhere safe for a second. I use a small tea spoon dish to set it in. I also use one of those 18mm joint glass stands that looks like a small candle holder.

Some use the test tube tongs.....I tried if at first....but found it too slow and cumbersome....but it works good non the less.

heaterPad_zpso7z5nbmw.jpeg

This was my first suede pad.....it was a bit too small so I doubled the size for safety. Using this, I can pull off the clip and heater....set down....stir...replace it all and be done in like 10-15 seconds. I stir after almost every draw....but I am a taste snob...so YMMV with that.

Easy Labpong. Just wanted to say that I never realised how much more conduction is taking place with the smaller bowl we both use vs the stock bowl.

I have been typically using my coil differently to you in that I have been keeping the coil on the heater the whole time more or less, in between hits and on heatups as well.

Just recently I had a fresh load in the small bowl with the coil on the heater ready to go sitting for quite some minutes. I decided to give the load a shake before the first hit so that hopefully a quick shake after the first hit would negate the need to remove the heater to stir the bowl and keeps things loose throughout.

Using the coil, when I shake the load immediately after a hit I usually get some vapour released from the herb which Rises up through the heater.

But on this occasion when I shook the fresh unvaped load before my first hit after it has been sitting with the coil for a while- I got visible vapor rising out if the herb! Before even taking a draw!:o

That small bowl gets so damned hot with the coil. I am sure the conduction aspect is much less with the stock bowl where I don't think the load will be cooked off as much in between draws if you don't remove the coil.

Also at the same final temp of a load (I start at 670-680 small bowl and step up as vapor drops), like 700-710 small bowl, my abv gets darker and darker and everything and more gets extracted at temps which are not excessively high and could easily be a starting temp for the load for a faster extraction and more immediate milk.

The bowl and loads just keeps getting hotter it seems. This is not quite like most other vapes I have used where are if you stick to a certain temp you will get to a point where your ABV will not darken anymore and no more vapour will be produced unless you increase temp.

With the coil and small bowl you actually have to use your tastebuds to stop vaping because you still keep getting clouds as the ABV is darkened even more but taste is gone as well as probably most actives.

Just a few observations anyway all of which has applied much more since I am resting the coil directly on top of the sick clip. Still serving me well otherwise with fantastic hitting power.:)

I only keep the coil on the heater for maybe 2 draws at most....so not long at all for it to be able to build up conductive heat.

I put the coil on the heater and let it sit for a minute or so. When the temp gets up to 635 to 645.....its good to go for a draw. I take off the heater after the draw....quickly stir and put back on....put the coil back on and maybe 30 seconds or so it is ready for another draw. So this way I do not get so much conductive heat thrown down to the bowl.

It is a bit of a balancing act with temps using the coils for sure. My RDK300 is set to 680-690 using the Elev8r. This way of using the coil on the Elev8r is usually a slow process of medicating for me. I like taking 1 or 2 draws......surf the net.....read....eat....then come back maybe 10 mins later for the following draws. So when I have time to chill and use slow and easy......I luv the coil on the Elev8r. If I want to get things done much quicker......out comes the Blazer torch.

I pretty much stopped using the stock bowl after I got it.....I will have to try using it again.....will most likely need to have the temps hotter possibly.

I use both in a random fashion. They work a little differently. The stock bowl is more protective against overcooking the load and premature top browning.
This happens at times due to my herb varying so much strain to strain, plant to plant, bud to bud. The small bowl can really darken that load quick if the temp is a little too high for the material.
But I use the smaller bowl more often as you can get a faster extractioj and denser clouds from a smaller load as you know. So it is useful for not having to load too much for face ripping hits (or is that "melting"?).
There is no question still though that the performance is a lot better with the coil on top of the sick clip. A PITA but for better perdormance I will endure the hot ass clip and required patience to stir and reload.

Eventually I will have 2 working (quartz) Elev8rs and just swich the coil over while one cools and hit the next bowl as I wait.

Oh yeah, I do use a little higher temp for the stock bowl. Start between 680 and 700 depending on strain. But extraction isnt so quick so the higher temp is well tolerated and not so fast to brown off.

Your temps are the same as mine I think. I found 700 was more than hot enough on the RDK300. I was going down to 650, but I liked the higher med value with little loss of taste at 680.

I just did a session with a big buddy torch. I did 6-7 draws....about 1 per minute. Keeping the heater hot and going for the full bowl after 10 mins or so....the smaller adapter bowl never got any hotter than when I use the coil. ......dammmmm 7 hits of Veritas Bubba Berry really fast.......me be feelin jah brah! :D

You are right though Alexis....you need to be careful using the smaller bowl not to draw to hard or long when you got too much heat going on. With my glass rig I can tell very quickly how hot it is by seeing how many seconds go by till vapor starts building and how thick it is......I know when to back off the draw and pull the bowl.

Some times when I over heat with the torch...I can get thick vapor in 3 seconds and pull the bowl.....brown dot that center load...haaaaa ooops....that draw was full medical....:ko: But then I do not like the following draws as the taste was sucked out in that last hot hit. So I usually now go slower on the torch heating and would rather fall on the side of slurping terps with a lower temp than the opposite.

Im right with you on this. This is the biggest advantage for me using the coil. My brain function and concentration/judgement is way too compromises for me to able to judge the torch time.

I actually am afraid to even use the torch now. Every time I tried it recently (not for ages now) i just could never get that window right. After gradually and unsatisfactorily draining the load with weak hits from under torching...I then ended up combusting nearly every time overcompensating.

No risk of that with the coil. But crucially, like you I hate over heating the firrst hit and browning the load much faster than I like.
It kills the bowl IMO, taste downhill, lower temp actives destroyed unused. It is like missing out on it. So I try not to overheat it to start. But I also hate going through several heat ups undertorching, for weak hits which dont really register but are still drawing money out the bank.

Hence impatience and desire to be hammered takes over and BHAM we have fire!:(:nope:

Grabbed the 16mm coil from New Vape. I thought it would fit but is too tight. What’s the best way to stretch it?

I stretched my Auber 15.8mm coil out with light pressure from a large flat screw driver prying each coil apart just a little bit. My coil is now about 22mm tall from the bottom to top of the coils. So each coil has about 3-4mm separation between them.

If you need to make it slightly wider to get around the uneven tube shape of the heater.....you can gently uncoil it some from the top and bottom loops at first. Put some paper or cloth over the coil so you do not dent or scratch is up. Just try to "unwind" the coil direction with the pliers. It may not need much to get it to fit around the glass heater.

I have mine so it slightly grabs as you put it on and pull it off....I sort of have to swivel or wobble it off the glass heater as I hold the bottom of the bowl down. I did not want my coil to be too wide over the heater. It is best to keep the coils as close to the heater as possible..touch it is fine. It is all about just making the coil wide enough to get off with not too much hassle.

Just go slow and take your time.

Guys, how do you compare the ELEV8r to the Sticky Bricks Jr? It seems like it’s more or less the Mighty or Volcano to the Crafty, or in other words, a Sticky Brick on steroids, is this correct?

Is it too bad to microdose with it? Like a 0.2g bowl?

Also, do I really need those big ass torches? I’d guess a double or triple regular torch would may be a joke to use with this, right?

Thank you.

The elev8r and the sticky bricks are slightly different in the way you heat them. Both use a torch, but you actually hit the sticky brick while you are torching....thus you are breathing in the butane heated incoming air. With the elev8r, you torch it up to heat....then set the torch down and draw on it.

I would not consider 0.2gm to be micro dosing...that is a lot it seems to me. In the elev8r...that would be 6-8 hugely powered draws on average....pending on flower type. 0.9 or .12 might be closer to me as micro dosing with the elev8r or flowerpot....but not sure on the sticky bricks...do they need more load size to function? With my vapcaps.....micro to me is like 0.5 to 0.9 with several draws......nothing beats the vapcap for micro dosing ability I think.

Both vapes offer excellent taste and extraction abilities....top notch. A sticky brick could be used more as a portable......elev8r not so much as the process of using the removable hot ass glass heater is an issue. So it is sort of a desktop in use case.

Thank you, I think I’m gonna enjoy this vape. I’m gonna wait for that quartz model, though.

About the torches, is it ok to use it with a double or triple torch? Will it work ok or do I really need those big kitchen torches?

Also, is it good for concentrates?

Thank you again.

You will absolutely need a bigger torch than a simple double or triple flame or you just won't be hitting anywhere near the bar at all and will be falling mightily short of the performance and experience the Elev8r can provide as many others have found previously in this thread when using smaller weaker torches.

Most commonly recommended is the Blazer Big Buddy torch. It really is not that big or cumbersome at all and it is perfectly sufficient in fact absolutely perfect for the Elev8r. I would just do yourself a favour if I was you and get one of these torches or a similar model otherwise there is no point you really giving this vape a go you will only be disappointed.

Hopefully quartz heaters will be available by next month please make sure to let us know how your experience goes and best luck man.

They put something up on instagram very recently showing the "All glass Elev8r" with glass screen. It looks like the quartz shape and design heater we saw a clip of before, but no mention of quartz.
But they said it is available I think and to see the website.

I did check but no cigar yet. In an email last month, Jason ssid it will be June or July fir quartz, but is still coming on.

This one seems to be quartz and also have the glass/quartz screen.

But its been more than 2-4 weeks.

Wonder what the issue is?

@alex91 I tried to get away with using a small vapcap style torch lighter, but found it mostly futile. Heat up times that make the lighter dangerous to hold. They aren't designed to be used for 2 minutes straight.

I got a little torch named This Thing Rips, and it works wonderfully. A very fast heating at higher temp will give a little different results than lower hear with longer heat up.

I recommend go lower hear for around 40 seconds and then experiment from there. At full blast I'm only heating for 20 seconds. Reheat is even faster.

No...those small mini torches with multiple jets are not enough. You will need a sizable torch, I use the Blazer Big Buddy Turbo, they have one with a larger jet output..the Blazer Big Shot.....it works but probably over kill with using more butane than really needed, but yea it will be faster heating.

I got 2 of the Big Buddy Turbo's on the net for less than $28 each.

We have no idea or feedback yet on exactly how and how much quartz heaters will be different. It is logocally accepted/assumed it will be a step up as it has better heat retention and should hold a more stable hea6 for a longer time so great for you torch guys who may be able to take 2 large lungbusters (maybe even with a hold) per heat up.

I have no personal experience or knowledge of course but really besides possible performance improvements the biggest attraction is the increased durability of the heater.
You could always get the vape now and get a quartz heater later on it's no big deal really it's up to you if you want to wait potentially another five or six weeks who knows it could be much sooner.

Just an FYI, I did send an email to them today asking If there’s a ETA for the quartz and they said there isn’t yet, but I guess I should take it with a grain of salt.

Solo II, Flipbrick, Elev8r
Just ordered one. Totally in love with my solo II and my flipbrick but I want a true dual use vape incase i ever come across some concentrates or I wanna make some.

I have no idea how big my torch should be, I can't seem to find any double flame torches in my part of the world. Can some of you guys point me towards what you guys use and what you recommend?

Does this one live up to it? https://www.gefu.com/en/kitchen-too...product/creme-brulee-profi-brenner-fuego.html

Actually wanted a creme brulee burner cause my previous one broke so I don't mind dishing out some extra cause it will be used for actual cooking too.
