If this were my goblets... you'd see 3 Log-vapes now
They will become logvapes at some point ,i just like the goblet shape it is really comfortable when vape bonging, They have quite thick bases so it will be easy to bore in,once i get my rotary tool fixed,i was stupid enough not to finish them while i were at the workshop.
Does the MUSA also have the Humming when dimmed ? Dont you notice better performance compared to the cloud sleeved bulb ? I am thinking of trying juggernaut or clapton coil around the bulb next :).
There are two kinds of wire, soft and hard, i guess you got the hard one.
Edited:
I just realized that having higher diameter of the connector will reduce the humming. I suspect that it is much more in my case cause mine are build out of few wires.

There is no humming sound with the MUSA. It comes with a 5A Power supply, which provides with its 60W enough surplus, I guess. As I said, I noticed the humming sound only with that cheap LED dimmer in combination with a 3A power supply. The MUSA also uses another dimmer.

I just read the the dimmer must be not pushed to the limits, could be a reason for the humming. I will try a 144w dimmer next ,my PA is 6.5 A :).
Have you tried using your vape on demand ? Like let it preheat a bit at max power, then turn it off ,put it on the bowl switch it on and start inhaling in a couple of seconds. It creates kind of a tempstepping hit, similar to a boost mode experience, which is the next thing i am trying to figure out how to do in this concept. I remember EV-1 and the Versa Infinity had this thing(on a side note i feel like the EV-1 was a main inspiration for the MUSA, it even has a washer like in your concept. I wanna have my vape running on low and press boost while having hits, i imagine it as the vapor density booster button :D .

Damn that thing is such a beast.. I was taking some solids too far and it combusted on the second hit.. I cannot recall when exactly but it might have been years from the last time that happened... glad it didnt get in my lungs though ,phew. I really wanna try some thinner liquidson a glass fritt ,but that will be once a female ended version is complete :).

Speaking of combusting... you've seen nothing yet :D

Did a version with the ceramic heater, I salvaged from my old EQ. Set it into a stainless steal heater cover and ran it with the EQ's 19V/3,42A PS and this small PMW dimmer here:

https://www.amazon.de/DC-Motordrehz...-Dimmer-Regler-Schalterfunktion/dp/B06XHGP58T

Starts vaping at around 2h on the dial... and is already on the knife's edge to combustion at that setting. Too slow a draw or leaving your stem a bit to long in the heater port, and your load is up in smoke
Combusted three times in a row... that's a first too :D

Tricky beast!

As for on-demand vaping/boost mode... is that really useful? A halo log is up to temps within 3-5 minutes from stone cold. Even faster, when you have it idling on a low setting. It's ready, when I've finished loading up my stem. Fast enough for me.

Interesting. Is this a log in the second pic, or another one of these globed devices below? Setting the bulb into a ss cover like in those pics is something that was crossing me mind while working on the ss heater cover for the EQ heater. We'll see, how far I can take this idea over the holidays.

The halo log in the second to last pic looks cool too. Will check out his ebay site later on.

Got the washers via Amazon.de. Guess, these here are the same product, though sold through another reseller in the US. 304 ss.

https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Stainless-Starlock-Washers-Fasteners/dp/B01LWZ15CF/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1526676835&sr=8-3&keywords=starlock+washers+1,5

The 39mm OD/20mm ID ones are a perfect fit for my goblets, which measure ~4 to 4,5 cm on the inside and the glas adapters which measure around 2-2,5 cm OD on a female 18,8 joint. Just need to cut one side of the washer, to get it around the joint and then just clamp down. Should work with smaller ones too (for logs with a more narrow opening, as long as the ID of the washer allows for the size of the desired heater cover.

ETA: How do you pull up the seller history on ebay? I can only see 2 completed auctions, but nothing else.

Ah... here's that ebay bloke with the halogen logs again!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HALOGEN-VAPORIZER-WOOD-/232800898505

Just 35,- quid!?! Well... tempted to order one, just to see how it performs and how it looks from the inside :D
Well i am not tempted at all.. For 50 quid (shipping incl) ,i would make myself one knowing what is inside :)).
I think that Venus vaporizer was his main inspiration, looking at his stuff, and also i bet that it has a ceramic socket for the bulb.
I would never use a Halo-log concept if it is not all SS316L + glass + wood.
I do not even want to expose myself to unknown materials ,which is the main reason of this DIY project :).

Right! You've got a point there :D

And yep. Looks very much like a cross between a log and the Helios Venus.

I wanted to bid on a one of his/her vapes, but the listing was removed on the last day before ending time. I think this was a maneuver because the current bid was not high enough ("item no longer available")

  • You are not allowed to end a listing just to avoid selling an item when a desired price was not met. Doing so is a violation of eBay policy.
A listing for the same item was put op on the same day. I'm done with this seller.

:D Haha guys let's keep it on the DIY topic here . It is not really cool to discuss/bash product i havent and wont ever try.. I just wanna say that if you want done something right, you gotta do it yourself.
Btw here is a concept of the bowl i am using lately, sofar i find it best for my routine.
@Goatbass Here it is buddy. Thing is that i use this one for my water tool. IDK how do you intent to use your project,if you want to figure a direct draw i would suggest getting a downstem instead of adapter or mouthpiece for the adapter. I load directly into the male joint. It delivers a nice conical airflow which delivers even extraction. I am very happy with it because it was a really ugly glass joint and i polished it myself ,wasted whole 15 minutes on a big ass torch flame + was rotating it .. I fucked up two adapters, which got melted and do not fit anymore, because they changed shaped.. Funky Junky was right it is a real bitch to do.. (it was he that gave the know how to fire polishing) .
I admit that one of the best things is watching the herb vaporizing infront your very eyes. Polished joints FTW !

Here is a 14mm female Halo-log in the making. This one will have extra SS mesh around the bulb for more light diffusion and 35w halogen bulb. I will probably do some more sanding on the body and trim the edges a bit to remove the lathe circles, but honestly i kind like the rough texture of the wood :). ALso fuck yeah SS316 L 500,400.350.300,200,150 mesh arrived :)) quality is great looking forward to testing different sizes :). Nxt on the list is SS 316L foil and various PWM controllers :)) .
259a1qb.jpg

I posted this in my other DIY thread, but since i use it mainly with the halo log, i will also post it here.. It is a real threat to watch the process. I only regret not adding a glass handle to the design like on the herborizer bowl.. having in mind that i waited 30 days for a local glass blower to do these.Costed me 12 euro a piece.

Really nice. :) I so wish, I'd find someone, who has access to a lathe and could turn me some custom bodies... but so far, no luck :(

Returning to my time proven little maple wood goblets for now, as the bamboo option wasn't working out very well with the given badge of cheap canes I purchased via Amazon (lots of cracking), and as I've also finally managed to fit the whole vape into one single maple wood goblet (8,5 x 5 cm), instead of two (or rather 1 1/2) goblets like I did before. Closest I can get to a real, custom turned body for the time being (see new pic from yesterday in my own thread. Doesn't look so bad at all).

Did one with a 11 mm ss heater cover and another one with a 13 mm glass heater cover, both set into a cork base and both using the 3D printer ss/ceramic 40W heater cartridge. Having one maple goblet left, I'm all set to do a halogen version again. Just deciding on the heater cover now... but given the short length of the body now, I think, I'll opt for the glass heater cover from an old EQ, I tore down a while ago. Basically a cut off 18.8 mm male stem, 1/3 of the standard size.

Well i could probably find someone to them for you, shipping from Bulgaria is Dirt cheap.. :))If you want make a drawing and i could ask what would it cost :).My friend is pretty busy guy but i imagine he knows other woodworkers ,they have somekind of guild in the city.
I would rather learn to them myself. It doesnt seem that hard with the right tools.
Checkout those mini lathes :)) .

Oh! That would be nice :)

If you could find someone, who would be able & willing to turn a few bodies for me (thinking of maybe 2 or 3), that would be really great.
Also thinking of nothing extraordinary here. Roughly the same size and diameter, as my maple goblets (8,5 x 5 cm), but a bit more massive (i.e. narrower center opening of about 3 cm) and maybe a bit rounded off at the top, for elegance sake. See, if I can do a sketch at the weekend.

Yup. Already looked into mini lathes (though never saw one for this low a price tag. Most were about 190,- to 300,- €) and considering to get one eventually. But this may take a while, as have to find more reviews first, about actual performance and learning curve. From what I've read so far, those small machines are designed for turning small stuff, like furniture for doll houses and the like. For a decent sized log, they may work just so.
Right now, I'm also lacking the necessary funds :p

ETA: Here is the current setup, BTW. The halo one turned out kind of a Mini MUSA :D

Thanks for the informative pictures as always! So the halogen bulb sits inside an 18mm m to 18mm f adapter with the female side on top.

Then you have the adapter with the screen piece that holds the screen on the male part and sits inside the bulb's female part of the adapter. That's great! Very simple and effective.

What I might actually do is connect the adapter to a hookah pipe or something maybe.
I think I have enough now to order the parts and look forward to putting it all together. Your halo log project is surprisingly the simplest vape I've found here so far.

It is the opposite, the male is ontop. The bulb sits into a male joint which is on top of the vap. I load into the glass joint of the bowl with the arizer cup being the bottom of it.Check the first page to see the concept of the vape and you will get an idea.http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/halo-log.26518/#post-1254574
The upper heater cover and the bowl have the same concept.

I will probably knockoff your design eventually, for personal use. But I haven't made up my mind on screens yet. I know there are circular, dome (like that Arizer on you've shown), and glass honeycomb screens. Why did you apt for dome though, isn't glass supposed to be more trustable. I don't wanna pay Arizer 15$+ to ship me a pack of 4. Others are plated chromium probably. Thanks in advance sir.

@atadam Oh,please be welcome :) !
I prefer Arizer screen because it keep my glass clean and is very durable. I havent opted for glass screens cause i do not like particles in my glass :).

:)) Damn those Gn0mes ,they get me so high and so fast that i am left in a blissful pit unwilling to do nothing :D... Also still waiting on the SS foil ,it takes bloody forever to source the right materials.. Had to wait two more weeks because i want SS316L ,but not SS316 and honestly it is no big fuckin difference in the application i am going to use.. but it really wonders me sometime how i want perfection in some details and leave others totally rough and imperfect, and it doesnt bothers me even one bit ,as long as i am not endangering myself.. ,lol ... Selective attention to details.
Anyway i decided to put throw a parts list of the concept which involves heater cover from adapters.

35w halogen bulb $2
SS316L mesh $3.50
316L wire for the leads $2.50
78w 12v PSU $15
PWM led dimmer $11
Pack of Wooden Pegs $2
Glass adapters 3x $13.50
Connectors $1.50
Jack 2.1mm $2
two metal cable ties $3
Arizer cup screen x2 $5
----------------------------------------------------
61$
You can probably find stuff from the list for more or less.. but even with the right choice of everything and buying in bulk, maybe prices can be a bit lower.. IDK... Anyway pretty neat for the price.
Next Version will be in a wooden body as the drawing in the OP and will have 14mm female heater cover ,also will have a SS316L plate foil heatshield . Also have few pwms on order from China, hopefully the ones i want most will not produce humming sounds as my first one. :))
Another thing i am thinking of is to order custom sized Arizer cup type screen at a local manufacturer, they said they can keep this shape by increasing the depth to 13mm,without having to include TIG soldering like in the VXL bullets.
I would like to make something like a bigger version of the muunch capsules ,similar to the ELBs but in SS316L. . Top cap will be like 3 mm deep which would leave 10mm space between them for the herb. A 19mm male gong is long 26mm so imagine the depth will be half the gong. I am expecting these to work well with many vapes :)

So I have been trying to put together a parts list for my own Halogen Log build but I cannot find electrical connectors that can stand the temps and are not Nickel plated. I found Aluminum Copper screw terminals but they are only rated to 300F. I am stumped on this one, any suggestions?

I have sourced or purchased every other part but the connectors elude me. I mean I always could just use ROHS solder but that makes it extremely difficult to deal with if a bulb burns out.

Maybe I am just an idiot, but seriously I am struggling with these connectors.
