@Ibn Vapin I use some rolled up stainless steel screening, like they all use for "concentrate pads". One of the big volcano pads goes a long way in making looser baby pads.

If you fill the stem/bowl half way with the mesh, you can vape 50mg loose leaf loads, that's 20 to a gram. At 20% actives, that's 10mg per load, which makes sense. No particles down the throat, either.

The other stem is filled just short of the edge with stainless so it never touches the oven base. Put a little dab of whatever on the mesh and make a swift pass with a heat source to melt it on. Or just insert gradually into the Solo, with the Solo facing down, and it will melt by the time it reaches position. Then vape as usual. Yum.

Fun stuff. And it points, I think, to one of the great strengths of Solo/Air/ ArGo: Versatility. There is no 'right way' to use it. Sort of a 'something for anyone' deal?

While I'm a confirmed user of the domed screens, and therefore wouldn't personally be interested in substituting the material for SS screens (I torch clean when fouled, very fast and easy) with herb, but can confirm the pad works excellently with concentrates. Then again that was the intended use? Using a very fine, round wire they get fast heat transfer, but maximum surface for the weigh used. Solid engineering, that.

The pad itself is a single very long strand. Woven into a tube like a finger trap or sock. You can tease it apart and draw the tube down narrow and slice a piece off with scissors. With luck/skill/daring you can get it in one or at least a few pieces. No chance of shedding bits.

Personally I like the 'cotton for concentrate' trick. And cleanup is a snap, pluck it out and pitch it and the stem is ready for the next adventure.

Anyway, cool post, fun experiment I bet. Glad you like it. Thanks.

Especially for those that don’t own the Solo OG. The Solo OG and the Solo 2 are really similar except for the bells and whistles - like digital temp, customizing the sound of the beep and the timing of your session. I think the battery seems more powerful but you would have to ask @OF. It could be my perception.

May I suggest the new Solo 2 owners check out about a few pages in the beginning and about 10 pages within the last few months to get some questions answered. We talk about several subjects often around here like concentrates and water tool we use with the Solo 2.

Recently I had knee replacement surgery. I needed a portable while recuperating and the Solo 2 was my vaporizer I used the most to help with my pain along with some hard core pain pills. The cannabis and vaporizing helped me to not use as many pills and I stopped taking the hard core pain meds sooner.

Cleaning tips? Been using WPA and cant get the brown/black gunk of the oven with 91 iso and qtip, any suggestions

Sometimes a light bit of heat will help soften buildup. When I'm cleaning my bong I always rinse with the hottest water I can out of the faucet. If I'm not satisfied then I'll put iso and table salt down inside and plug either end and shake like wild.

Do similar maybe. Heat the oven a bit then dip a qtip in iso then a little pile of salt then scrub.

so, why are "harmless" posts being removed from this thread?

Er, you might want to consult the rules (bottom right corner on the page):
"Public discussions of staff decisions are not permitted on the site. If you have any concerns or queries relating to a staff decision please take it up in private with a staff member."

Not that I'm trying to be some sort of nanny (the next rule.....), just saying it's a good policy IMO to not 'get into that' publicly as it can (and has) 'blown up' in the past. Best avoided?

Can you be a little more specific? I do randomly delete posts when I'm bored to keep people on their toes and those harmless ones are some of my favorites to zap. Damn, I've been found out.

Good thing you didn't use your real name, isn't it? I mean are we really supposed to believe your mother named you 'Stu'?

I personally am glad you'er so easily amused by such things, we could never afford to pay you for the benefits you provide us.....not an be able to afford more important stuff like new vapes and tasty herb to fill them with......

Just stay away from my posts?

Weekend regards to all.

Always question authority!

I'd like to see some suggestions for this. TIA

First, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. When you fill your stems use your little finger to tamp down the medicine so none is touching the bottom/heater.

If your oven is dirty now, you can use a cotton swab dipped in ethanol or iso to clean the oven. Always clean the oven when the unit is off and wipe down the oven with a clean swab after using any solvent.

And do it inverted and very carefully. Any solvent that makes it down the vents it gone forever, but any contamination that might be with it will now stick deep inside where it to 'is forever' as the ISO evaporates over time.

IMO 'burnt on' deposits are not going to yield to ISO. I once plugged the four vents in mine (toothpick stubs) and scrubbed the daylights out of it with ISO and swabs to little effect. Solvents are fine for condensate but once it's 'baked hard' it's more like attacking concrete spills with a water hose. Much easier to do 'before it sets'.

Very careful use of 0000 steel wool (or better still Copper wool) is possible, but watch the finish on the bowl? "Magic Eraser" worked for me, but again keeping debris and other junk contained is critical. Plan that part first?

In the end I think it's a cosmetic issue, not effecting performance.

SMF is right, the best idea is to not let it happen. And if it does not neglect it until it becomes a big problem that won't yield to modest ISO efforts. Much easier/better to keep it clean as you enjoy it that to fight a big mess later? And also be careful with experiments with concentrates in pads, my downfall here.
