MiniVAP Vaporizer

That sounds like OG Teflon heat up time to me. I would take sticks advice and send a email out to MV team to confirm your unit is the latest quick core.
...............................................................
Please be aware that the latest units are not all quick core as they offer:
Original -Teflon base price
Peek Quick-core + $50
Glass Quick-core + $80

Since orig Teflon does not say it is Quick-core, I'd say it is not.

I talked to the shop where I bought it and they said it's not ok if the heat up time is that long. They want replace it and sent me a label for free delivery.

Edit: Now also the manufacturer Jorge replied me. He was very helpful and gave me some details on the several versions that exsist. I'll stay in pure convection (teflon) but with quick core. With heating under 3 minutes this vape is great.

Hi everyone, I'm planning on purchasing this vape. I've found a girl who is selling this vape second hand in my country. She's selling the full kit (AC + battery), all original components (bag, starter kit, etc.) included as well for 170€. She told me the battery lasts 1 hour more or less and she bought this vape like 4 years ago, so it's the 8-minutes-to-warm-up-model.

What do you guys think? for those of you who have owned this vape for years and years, does it still perform like day 1? I'm kind of worried of how old this vape is.

Hey there!
Full kit for 170E seems fair indeed! ...It should include a square base to charge the battery (you can look at the components included in a full kit on their website).
I would have a look at bowl first to see how it has been maintained. You can even remove the black rubber-looking round gasket around the bowl and look in there, although it seems hard anything may fall in, tbh.
...But bag? :uhoh: Didn't know it made bags! :o:huh::p To be clear, it doesn't blow bags in any way, sorry if you had any expectations about that.
And I think it takes 5-6 minutes to heat up not 8?

You can send the battery back to Jorge and he will change the cells for 40E, should you need to renew it. Send an email to support.

Regarding that particular units' performance, well its a 4 year-old 2nd hand vape. Like all 2nd hand stuff, it depends on how it has been used previously, right?
If you have any concerns about its current output, you can also send it in for a check-up. Jorge treats MV's pretty much they're like his children.

If you're worried about the MV itself well, you shouldn't be! Its a beast of a vape, just have to see if it fits your personal needs, but other than that its a great performer, even compared to newcomers. In that respect, I find MVs were even ahead of their time, with the basket system (copied by many) and the removable "core" for a metal one both copied over and over by the competition.

Short answer: yes it still performs like day 1 after three years of almost daily use. But for 170E (in decent condition) IMO its a real bargain mate.
EDIT: Looking at your line-up, you may find the taste comparable to a Vaponic and the vapour production over a Mighty's.

Many thanks my man, that's been really helpful. Would you rate the MiniVap flavour to be better than the E-nano's flavour?

By bag I meant the carrying suitcase.

She's put a bunch of pictures and it seems 100% complete and clean. I Will take that check-up into account in the long run. Isn't there any way I can make that check-up myself?

Isn't 1 hour of battery duration just way too low?

effciency wise, I mean by efficiency the capability of getting great results with micro doses, what would you compare the MV with? is it as efficient as an E-nano?

well thanks a lot my man

You're very welcome! :)

They're different because they obviously have different heating elements and air path. I personally use them in different settings, an MV is an MV and a Nano, well... a Nano!:
Mostly use MV through glass (an empty oiler turned upside down on the cone, Roger D style) or with water filtration.
Nano is mostly used dry, for flavour. I also have two tubes with screens placed at different lengths for micro-dosing and using hash/kif with the regular load. Yes, sounds lazy, i know! Originally it was my backup, just can't be asked to remember the exact sweet spot for the screen in between cleaning cycles.

I have also developed a habit for using certain vapes with certain rigs, they just work better IME.
For example, from what I have in my sig; the Mobius will get used with the Nano but the MV goes better with the Gordo or the cheapo bubbler... I find Nano goes better with the 18mm adapter so I have limited options there.
Although I use both with my J-hook!

Another thing to consider, I do not use the MV in full convection mode (with the Teflon rings). I much prefer the taste combined with the dense clouds it gives! The extraction is so even and the vapour so smooth! Sorry but I have no patience for a full 20min session  another member may give you better advice than me in that respect...
Additionally, its always used as a desktop. Have carried it out to open-air concerts with no problem, but it is a little bulky.

Ah I see, carrying bag!:bang: ...Well I'm afraid you still can't vape through that! :freak::razz:

If it isn't perfectly clean, you can always give it a clean with some alcohol wipes, or 99% ISO and toilet paper...
Regarding the check-up, no. It has to be Jorge himself.
Partly it was one of the reasons why I chose it over the Mighty: you get a proper one-to-one service (within reason ofc). Especially for repairs and CS issues. You are dealing directly with the inventor so he is perfectly aware of all technical issues.
He is also based near me, and can give him a call to discuss anything, he's always up for a nice chat unless busy. That is also a big plus, not having to deal with a clueless, demotivated guy/gal at the other end!

1h battery duration on what setting, Red? For a used unit, it seems on par with a moderate/regular use. Although I almost never use mine with the battery, mind you.

Although, on second thought, a brand new MV in desktop configuration, will run you 280E so you may also wanna consider getting a new one instead, if you factor in the cost of getting the cells changed; at 170E+40E, plus shipping, etc.
IF you get a desktop you can upgrade in the future at almost no cost, since an extra battery is 99E and a base 25E, I think. If you bought it all separately it'd cost 10E extra, its how kits go.

For absolute, maximum 100% efficiency :borg:, I'd personally use my Milaana/Zion. they're the most economical out of the whole crew IME, despite (or because of!) being portables.
I personally use my MV as a portable desktop away from home, and to start/finish the work day, so not in a micro dosing setting per se... In fact, I use it more as a heavy hitter.
But I only need one session though! :ko:
I must admit it does have a micro dosing basket, but I haven't used it too much either , sorry can't help you on that respect, maybe another member can shed more light on the matter...
Already dropped a massive brick as it is... :uhoh:

TL;DR: Nano is Nano, MV is MV. They're both good, buy them both if you can. They offer different things IME. You still can't go wrong with an MV.

Hope it helps!

1. I microdose, like 0.015 - 0.02 gram over 2 sessions. You could load more in the baskets to allow for more sessions
2. Flavor-- the flavor is top notch and vapor quality too. I will say this--I've never had any vape give better flavor, it's just how close they come to miniVAP
3. Very open draw. I always finish every load at 445 F and it never chars the load VS many vapes that max at 410 F and they still char the load. I usually use a low restriction water bubbler as all vapor is very dry----bubbler used to moisturize the vapor
4. Home based portable- it's the only vape I know of that is a desktop (with the small AC puck) OR a portable with longest lasting battery. 5 seconds to change over.
5. It can be a hard hitter if you load it up
6. Because of the Flexicone basket modules which keep herb enclosed, I know of no vape that needs less cleaning and maintenance. Especially if you add a small degummed hemp fiber filter in the Flexicone---to catch all the micro particles that get sucked out of most vapes.

I've used many many vapes and this is still my #1 vape---it has held off all challengers for many years :)

I have a couple nearly new Mighty's that almost never see action and a Haze Square (little use--just to try it out) and many VapCaps that hardly get used plus many others..... the miniVAP is just so flavorful and easy and clean and versatile as it can be used with mouthpiece, whip, J-hook, inverted in bubbler, hydratube onto it etc

P.S. The Flexicone basket modules are pure genius

hi there mate,

do you mean you get a couple of sessions out of 0.02 with the MV? did you weight it? temperature? how many hits? well mate, I'm just freaking out, could you please describe how those sessions are? I would appreciate.

I was just taking a look over at the Minivap site and I noticed something a little different. It looks like they're now offering a "peek" core. I wonder what changes that will make to how it performs.

Yes,
I weigh my loads and get excellent efficiency with miniVAP. Note that this works for me but for a heavy user that uses much bigger amounts, it won't perform miracles---it will get max extraction however.

My routine is normally load with a tweezers and gently twist off a couple calyxes of bud. First session is usually at temp #2 or maybe #3 (green). A couple hits gives me effects. Turn off and unscrew cover and take a draw to cool the load.
In the evening, for a bedtime session, turn to red, break up the calyxes, and finish the load.

This works for me. The ABV comes out perfectly uniform in color after the 445 F hits and never any charring.
Of all the vaporizers I've ever used, the miniVAP is still my favorite for flavor and efficiency.

thanks pal,

that sounds incredible, my tolerance is down to the floor since I haven't been vaping for more than a year so I'll definetely give this method a chance.

One more thing, what loading method do you use for the load not to fly loosely inside the chamber? two baskets ala Vapexhale? do you use coarse or fine grind? well you know, the more details, the better! many thanks

I use the small sized basket. I've seen 3 sizes, small-medium-large, over time. Not sure if small is still offered???
Using a steady slow draw, I've not needed to "pin down the load" with a pad. It works great even though most of the basket is empty and even though Hermes recommends filling the baskets.

As a sidenote: I mod my baskets as shown--- Basket, then rimmed screen (not standard screen as shown), then even thinner/smaller hemp filter than one shown in pic, then very small cut screen above hemp filter to keep it from being sucked up into the tip and restricting airflow. This keeps those micro-dust ABV particles out of my mouth and out of my bubbler.
Bubbler reclaim is then golden goo, without any nasty ABV particles.

Yep, that's exactly what I did, I reached Jorge and I'm impressed with the customer service so far, so impressed I ended up purchasing the quick core peek AC black model.

I'm so happy, I think I'm gonna absolutely love this thing. I was a Solo/Air user for quite a long time.. no matter what other vapes I came across, I would just end up picking up my Solo again and again (even vs the e-nano, GH or EQ). It was so convenient to use, easy to maintain, cordless, etc.. that my other vapes would get no love.

Later I moved towards the Mighty expecting to find a Solo on steroids, expeting to get better vapor quality while not compromising on convenience and efficiency.. was I wrong! that vape is an herb killer, it's so unefficient, cleaning is a mess (compared with the Solo), micro dosing is nearly imposible and the vapor was so cold, so smooth, I would end up consuming 3 times the amount of herbs I used in my Solo (yep, as strange as it might sound, I kind of like warmer vapor and the Mighty was way too soft/smooth).

This guy seems to be perfect for every part of the game I like. You can either micro dose or fully load, sipper or hard hitter, short moutpiece for warmer vapor, flexicone + for smoother, even the possibility to attach to a water tool with the Decarboxylation Kit for huge cloulds while having the teflón core for flavour.. and it does all that without glass involved (I hate breaking those, even with the Solo). Vapexhale Cloud vapor quality on-the-go ^^!

so, other than the size (which is no big deal for me, I always carry a backpack), what's the downside with this vape? I just can't find one ^^, she does everything. Desktop + portable for 410€, and not to forget, top notch perfomance on-the-go.

So happy, I'll comment when it arrives and I try it first hand, thank you all for all your comments and answers

Just arrived and made my first session with my QCT. First impressions are really good. Vapor quaility wise, it reminds me of Volcano/plenty vapor, light but strong (at low temps) and, as it has repeteadly been said here, it conserves flavour really good, reminds me of S&B (mainly plenty) again. It fits my needs 100%. Really efficient, cooks evenly without stirring (that's huge for me), it feels really solid and very well made. I haven't ordered the battery yet but I'm not sure I'll do it… it'll be a huge device, perhaps I'll buy another portable for outside, it's huge even for me.

Personally, this vape, is like I found nearly the perfect one for me. This vape has everything I love from other of my favourite vapes and lacks everything I hate from those very same vapes. It's like a plenty (loved the vapor on that one), with the ability to microdose and extremely efficient, better materials. Volcano: I hated bags. Solo: no desktop performance. GH: Only through glass piece, not dry. Vaponic: breakable, torch and so on…

I prefer the e-nano flavour, it was way better actualy, this one preserves it like few others. I hated stirring and relocating the screen every hit with that one, MiniVap is incredibly easy to use and almost plug&play. First sessions yielded a perfectly evenly baked ABV, and great performance with not the best meds.

I have put 0.080g of a medium-low quality herb and it yielded somehwere around 10 decent draws from purple to red, 8 of which with really decent flavour, it's massively efficient. I've been years and years trying to find this vape and I finally got it, it's like a Solo on steroids ^^

Donwsides so far: not the best flavour in the market, not as pure as en e-nano, wasn't expecting that one either. Too big, way too big with the battery. The buttons feel wobbly and loose.

Let's see how it behaves in the following months, hopefuly my impressions won't change much

regards

I went from purple to red raising temp every few hits. Next time I believe I'll skip those 2 last hist at red. I was a high temp guy some time ago but now my tolerance is down to zero. Perhaps this amount of herb and temp setting won't appeal to heavy users but for now it's performing great in that range for me. Did I meantion amazing flavour ^^?

I don't think I know a lot on da subject ^^ :)...

Been vaping with this guy this past few days.. It extracts really slowly, like reeeeally slowly am I wrong? or is my unit defective?
Not too thick clouds, not too much visible vapor but lots of tokes (even at higher temps), even with smaller loads. I'm running the quick core teflon and already vaping at green-red. Those thin tokes feel strong anyways, it reminds me a lot of Volcano vapor, not too visible but strong effects either way. A decarb kit would improve vapor production while decreasing the number of tokes, am I wrong?

The MV is a low smell vaporizer! (MY WIFE THINK's that?)
Yes it is but the glass core used on red setting will smell more!

Still in love with my MiniVap but it seems I'm using more the glass core as an heavy hitter and my new peek core is seeing a lot less uses...

Hey mate, can you help me out. Differences between QGC and teflon in terms of efficiency, extraction, amount of hits per load? does it extract faster? Does the decarb kit perform as good as the QGC?

many thanks

Teflon core offers a lot more hits per load but give a less dark abv, efficiency is pretty similar. The full convection from the teflon is sometime a bit harsh for my throat and the QGC is a bit smoother. Decarb kit doesn't make a teflon core similar to a glass core...imo!

QGC can vape concentrates effficiently where the teflon core doesn't do that very well.
