Hey all. I have had my Pax 3 for about a month now, so I thought I’d shell out my :2c:.

Quick backstory: the Pax OG was one of my first vapes and I HATED it. The flavor, the maintenance, the efficiency and the price all left a bad taste. But I did try the Pax 2 and was impressed with how much better it was than the first and when they had the 4/20 deal, the price made it irresistible (damned VAS, leave me be!)

I have to say... I love this thing!
I have a few Conduction vapes, but none of them have been dd’s for a long time.
I think it was @Mr. Me2 who said everyone should have at least one conduction and one convection vape in their rotation- and I couldn’t agree more!

The vapor is much heavier and concentrated with the Pax. For me, the vape signature really packs a punch!
I’ve always loved the form factor, I don’t think there is another battery vape that is smaller, certainly not one that performs as well.

The maintenance is much, much easier than the OG. It still needs more maintenance than most of my other vapes because the flavor degrades after 3-5 loads, but a little ISO and a pipe cleaner and it is as good as new.

I really like the App. The different profiles are very fun to use. I especially like the Flavor profile and the Efficiency profile. The latter reminds me of the Alfa Gaboof auto puff setting (I can’t remember exact name). The app does have a few quirks/issues but I will save that for a different post.

The battery life is more than sufficient for my needs. It lasts longer than my Crafty (which isn’t saying much) and probably similar to Fury 2. I wish it would charge directly to a USB instead of having to use the adapter (one more thing for me to lose) but not a huge deal. At least it’s small, so if I am traveling, it doesn’t add any significant weight.

The only thing I don’t love is how much herb you need to pack in there to have a great session. Even the half pack is more like a 3/4 full oven, which when packed down is a lot of herb. I bought the New Vape pusher, but honestly, even when it is unscrewed as far as possible, it seems to be the same amount as half pack. (I was hoping to be able to pack a 1/4 or 1/8 of oven at a time and that doesn’t work with pusher.)

I need to try out others suggestions of bent screen (any chance you can post a pic of that? I am not understanding exactly how it would work), and using the concentrate lid. Will report back when I get there.

I have zero regrets buying the Pax 3. This has quickly moved into my daily rotation - super happy with its performance.
So happy you’re happy. I think this company really puts out quality products. And I can’t wait to see what’s next.

In place of the New Vape pusher (which I have and like), you can try folding a regular pipe screen into a taco shape. You may need to trim the screen; make sure its diameter is not wider than the oven. I used this method before I got the pusher.

Both work for me, but I agree less is more when solo for pax.

Thanks @Mr. Me2 . I will definitely try out the taco screen hack.
You are definitely one of the reasons I even considered revisiting the Pax.
Thanks for being a great ambassador for them!

I really gotta sit down with my Pax 3 this weekend and get it figured out. I think the issue I have been having is using it with my fiance so I hit it, pass it to her she hits it, back to me and I hit it so it just gets so damn hot I have to set it down, talked to a guy at a vape shop and he said it is better for solo sessions, take a hit, let it cool down for 5-10 seconds, take another hit. Going to try that out while I play some VR this weekend and see how it goes

Anyone have issues with getting the screen to lay flat in the oven? I rarely can get mine to sit flat which, I imagine, lessens the extraction with conduction.
Any tips or at least similar experience?

Are you referring to the pax screen or the spacer to add on top?

The screen. It almost always ends up sitting at a slight angle before adding herb. (Pretty sure it stays at an angle after I pack it, because it gets wedged in at the angle and the only way for me to try again is to poke it out with a pipe cleaner.)

That’s what I thought. I believe it is designed to sit at a slight angle. If it was flat, it would block the air path. Make sense?

I thought that’s what the raised dots in the 4 corners were for, no?

Thanks @Justpassedu and @Mr. Me2
I swear I have occasionally been able to get it to lay flat and when I did, I got much better extraction.
Of course, I vaped every time I observed that which means I am probably just making it up.
Bottom line, I am going to stop wasting my time trying to get the damned screen to lay flat!!
Thanks again.

So for those who have owned a Pax 2 or still do and a Pax 3 besides heat up time , vibration and app support are there any major differences ? Will you actually be getting the same vapor output in 22 seconds heat up time with the Pax 3 as you would when the Pax 2 is ready to go ? I ordered one to replace my Pax 2 so I am wondering. Ty

Hi, I think I have a problem when I turn it on, the pax3 show 2 right side blue light, and then, turn off. So, I turn on again and it works. Any ideas?? I'm find anything else on google about to bluetooth, I'm removed app from my Iphone too. Every time I turn on for the first time, pax show these two blue light. people that had this, send to pax labs and got a new one. I´m live in Brazil and pax labs doenst work here, :(.

take a good vaps!

Hi everyone!

It's been a long time since I posted in fuckcombustion but the time has come to change the old MFLB I have, I'm tired of the batteries and it just feels cheap... I want something portable and stealthy, those are my main requirements, for home use I will use it for a few months I guess and then I'll buy the Arizer Extreme Q (that's the one I'm aiming for home use in a few months) but I need something in the meantime to toke from home and outside.

Is the PAX 3 a good option? I mostly use dry herbs, I've been taking a look at the ArGo, Davinci IQ, Crafty (since the Mighty is too big to toke everywhere) and I just don't know which one should I get.

I guess after the MFLB everything will be an upgrade, is the PAX 3 my best option? If not, which other vapes would you guys suggest to me? Stealthy and portability is what I need. Thanks!

@TwisteD
You should probably create a separate thread for this question. But, I will will try to keep my answer primarily on Pax.
I am very happy with my Pax3, but I have a decent sized vape collection, so it a great addition to it - however, I would not want it as my only portable.
Compared to the MFLB, you will definitely be in for a rude awakening with herb efficiency. The Pax needs a fairly decent amount of packed herb to work well, and should really be used up in one session as it will continue to cook a little when you turn off.
That flavor is also different (in my opinion) as Pax is much denser, almost concentrated in flavor which some like, some don’t. I think the MFLB has a lighter flavor. I like them both, but opinions will vary.
I also think the Pax vapor is one of the smelliest out there. If you are living somewhere that this will be an issue, make sure to get a Smokebuddy to go with it!
The heat up time is excellent - not as fast as on demand - but 15-20 seconds is not a big deal in my book.
And the design factor is fantastic, small, sleek and discreet.

It is off topic to discuss the other vapes you mentioned, but personally, I think the Argo and Crafty are worth the look along with the Healthy Rips Fury 2. It may be a really good fit at a great price.

Good luck with your journey!

@steama I have one and it only “pushes down” about the same as the half pack oven. That is with it unscrewed as far as possible without it falling off. They both work fine - but basically it still needs to be packed about 3/4 full.
When I put in small amounts (like 1/4 of the oven packed or even a true 1/2 oven) I find I am not nearly as happy with the results.

Buy a fury 2, capsules and wpa. You will still save money and IME it is a better unit. Doesn't have the warranty that pax have tho, or looks as premium either, but their cs is top notch

How many sessions do you typically get from a packed oven ? I want to get a pax 3 but even with the half pack oven door I think it's just too much. I had a similar issue with the IQ so i gave it to my brother. I'm using an Argo as my DD at the moment and have a OmniVap and Sticky Brick Jr, so I have a variety, but the flavour profile on the PAX kinda sounds like it would conserve an oven full over multiple sessions. Thoughts? I wouldn't buy the PAX but the design and size are speaking to me.

The NV screen also has two different air-flow options depending on which side you put in the oven first. The cut 'airflow grooves' are different on each side of the solid metal screen to accomplish this

I never knew that or really looked that close before....:hmm: have had screen for like 6months now.... thanks for pointing this out, makes sense too....different airflow....maybe that’s why sometimes the draw feels different

From a full oven or 3/4 full, I get 2 sessions. One on lower heat, the second at max heat. The initial 4-7 draws are dense and flavorful - a unique taste from any of my other vapes, which I really enjoy. After that, like most vapes, the flavor dissipates quickly, but I haven’t found it to be horrible, which happens with some vapes (the original Pax and the Crafty come to mind as examples).

I’m not completely sure I understood you toward the end - but I know the OmniVap is definitely efficient with herbs and my guess is the other two you mentioned are as well. From my usage, this is definitely not the case with the Pax3.
But if you are looking for a different flavor profile and vape signature, the Pax3 is an excellent option.

I meant “Flavor profile” as in the setting you can activate in the app that Ploom states is more on demand. As in it ramps as you inhale.

In my opinion, the end result is pretty much the same. The improvements are in the battery life, app support, heat-up time, vibration. The Pax 3 is a more user friendly, and the battery lasts longer. But you'll be able to get similar quality vapor from the Pax 2 if you know what you're doing. There are a few different temperature modes you can set in the Pax 3 that you cant do in the Pax 2. Some of them you can emulate, others not so much.

For example: Start at a low temp and work your way up over the course of the session finishing on max temp on the Pax 2. That's basically emulating the "Efficiency" mode on the Pax 3.

But there is nothing like boost mode or flavor mode on the Pax 2.

Ahh. Ha! My bad! I have never been able to get more than two sessions out of a 3/4 packed oven (which is how I usually pack it) no matter the profile. But to be clear, my definition of a “session” is 6-12 draws on the Pax.
And the Flavor Profile is great!

After yesterday's use I found this:

This PAX never worked well. I own three of these units and this is a poorly heated material (AVB comparison from another unit is on the photo, the same material, the same temperature setting and the same time of use), it has a bad battery life and finally peel plastic. I'm afraid the vendor will tell me I've destroyed myself and reject the complaint. Is it safe to use it? I'm sorry for my bad English.
