Underdog Log Vapes

I am a simple person and mostly like a very direct vapor path without all the glass and hardware. Nylon stems with the dog and standard naked mouthpiece for other vapes. I sometimes feel “uncultured “ around here. Like eating with my fingers or something. My biggest pipe is a 5” glass spoon for smoking occasions. Seems like some have quite a ceremony vaping.

So I guess my Wild Maple gal is not fixable. I kind of figured that since y'all replaced her when she started charring instead of fixing her, but figured I'd check, LOL! Underdogette and I are working on alternative plans.

I had checked the posts on the Tekpower VVPS before posting about it and it does have the holes in the post (I kind of figured I could run the wire in there but wanted to double check), so next time it falls out I'll cut those banana plugs off and go that route. I did try bending the ears out but I don't think they bent much, we'll see, LOL!

So the next part of my evil drug pushing plan is to get a bong to loan to my friend along with the loaner UD vape. I have lost the links I had from folks on here about what bongs they are using. I know NOTHING about bongs. So I'm looking for something not too expensive that will go well with an Underdog and not be hard to use or clean. I think people were suggesting something called a "bubbler"? Not sure. I'm fine with good quality Chinese glass. Any recommendations?

I seriously know NOTHING about bongs. I barely figured out how to use the log vape, LOL! I am ... barely ... of the hippie generation but I had little to no experience with the weed. Every few years I'd lay hands on some. I didn't like to ask other people to buy it for me because if they got caught I'd have felt terribly guilty and I didn't like to try to buy it for myself because (1) I had no idea where to get it and (2) my single experience with a "dealer" resulted in ... man-handling, to put it mildly. I think the guy was pretty surprised when a woman almost a foot shorter than him pulled a knife on him. OK, tiny knife, basically I used to use it to whittle. But it did buy me enough time for some guys walking by in the parking lot to see what was going on and deck the guy.

Any specific suggestions? I have no idea how to select one. Any particular dealers to look for, or avoid?

is very popular with UD users. It's compatible with our 18mm NonGs and 18mm OS NonGs. Also our 14mm GonGs and NonGs with the use of an adapter (not included).

I would even ask the seller if they could include an 18/14 reducer instead of the bowl or nail combos. I've been lucky once or twice with that approach. Trust me you'll want it more than the freebies they include.

DHgate has a lot to offer in cheap [but very functional] glass but can be overwelming in terms of selection. There are a few trusted sellers that many of us use regularly - Sunshinestore, popular glass (StevenLMZ79), Clean & Clear Glass (CCG), and MLGlass are all top sellers. The D020 piece in Stu's link is probably the one most recommended and would make an excellent first choice. It comes from Sunshinestore and works very well with the UD. My only gripe is that it has an 18mm joint. I use my UD almost exclusivly with the 14mm gong stem so I buy mostly 14mm jointed pieces, but this can be rectified with an reducer (listing shows one included with that piece, but I recall it didn't fit well) but the reducer UD sells works very well. My favorite piece so far with my logs is the FC-188 (or PG5081) from StevenLMZ79. I'm an old [ex] bong smoker and the larger can volume on the FC-188 make for a more fill-n-clear like experience and the matix perc doesn't steal too much flavor. Additionally, the base on the FC-188 is very thick and stable. This piece is also available with an 18mm joint (FC-187 or PG5080) if you are so inclined.

Seconding the FC-188 recommendation, it's a wonderful piece to use with an Underdog. The percolator has more numerous, finer cuts and holes than the D020, which makes for just the right amount of resistance when you draw, milks up nice and thick. It's also a breeze to clean with isopropyl or Simple Green, both apertures are easy to plug with a thumb so you can shake it up.

The D020 is a fine piece, there's a reason it's so popular, but I definitely prefer the Matrix Sidecar/FC-188.

I'm leery of that particular seller (the guy who makes the FC-188). It looks nice but it appears to be a counterfeit and not just a knock off - the pics I've seen actually have the Mobius logo on it. And other reasons. For one thing he has a statement on his site dissing the free shipping he offers that really sounds like he's trying to extort extra money out of you for more expensive shipping options. Kind of like if a thug walked into your store and starts talking about what a SHAME it would be if anything bad happened to your lovely store...

Also what's the difference between the 14mm and 18mm sizes? I don't have any GonGs at all so I don't have to worry about matching, I can just get the right size stems and whatever to start with. Is there a reason to go with one size over the other?

What UD pieces would I need to get in addition to the bong? Just the right size GonG?

Finally, what is the use of the J-Hook? I know there are people on here who use those but I'm not clear on what they do for you.

I've seen reports of having received it both ways - with and without a logo. Plus, I have noticed that EVERY single time someone links directly to the piece on this forum, the link is removed and replaced with a statement about it having been a link to a counterfeit. Plus, apparently he tends to be sticky about defective items received. He either tries to extort more money out of you (by insisting you have to buy another piece before he will ship you a replacement for the lemon you got) or he won't give you a 100% refund for your defective item. Most reliable sellers (all that I know of but that is a pretty limited set) just want you to email pictures and then they'll refund. This guy wants you to ship it back to get a full refund, at your own expense, to CHINA.

If that is not a picture of what he actually makes, that is even more incentive to avoid the guy. If he can't post pictures of what he actually makes, that leads me to think he's hiding something.

You know I went and looked at that thread. It is over 1000 pages. There is NO WAY I'm going to try to wade through all that. There may be a lot of information in that thread, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life looking for it, LOL!

That is one of the drawbacks of this forum in general. Instead of threads that get unwieldly and long they should have more subforums. This "thread" should, in fact, be its own subforum. And that thread should DEFINITELY be its own subforum. You can't find anything when a single thread gets so long!

Besides which my particular issue is finding a bong that UD users like and works with the UD. Or at least, log vapes in particular.

I can't compare since I don't have either piece but the one you linked to seems like it'd be fine. It should be compatible with all the stems I mentioned for the previous one as well.

eBay, no. I HAD an account because I used to buy semi-precious stones (when I was a goldsmith) but for some BIZARRE reason they deleted all my vendor information and all my purchase history. So I abandoned it. This was years ago, before my hands got too shaky to handle a torch, working on tiny pieces of jewelry.

I do have an amazon account but - bongs on Amazon? There do seem to be a very very few, but nothing I would trust as to source, and the vast majority that look even remotely like something I would want are marked "currently unavailable". Lots of "beer bongs", including one attached to ummmm, a representation of a certain part of the male anatomy. No I do not want that, LOL! But not really anything like what I was looking at from DHGate.

This can be such a pain in the ass on many websites. Yesterday I was helping a neighbor by setting up an appointment at a surgery center where they're going to have eye surgery next monday, they only set up appointments online (when most of their patients are at least in their late 70's, my neighbor is mid 90's) and have spaces for home-phone, cell-phone and email. Home phone is optional but if you don't fill out the email and cellphone spaces you can't make an appointment.

I don't know anyone in their 80's and 90's who have both a email or cell phone.

Behold my new dog...

I had an old poplar Aircore dog that up & died after 2 years of heavy use (still worked but core had come loose from body). As its warranty replacement, @underdogette very kindly sent me this stunning Canarywood dog.
