Aromed 4.0

Hi @Ed's TnT , any news about your new Aromed mod? Asked that before a few months ago but got no reply.

Good morning, I apologize for missing that. Last few months have been tough, still not turning yet but if all goes well I hope to have chips flying before the weekend is over woot woot. To your question, I had a couple or so of the new shorter versions come in a long time back, the starlight 4.0 I wanna say. One went out as a replacement and the other was snagged to I think. My glass guy has made many changes and has modified all the glass I was offering making it better and thicker. I also know he has gotten into the grow side of the biz as well and has made big strides in that area. I am uncertain of whats to come in the glass. We have both him and I gotten so busy and sidetracked that I dont have a clear answer for you. I have been slammed with the move for almost 3 months now and once I get back to work its going to be balls to the wall for me. This probably isnt much more of an answer than you didnt get back at your last post but is where I am at and all I know bro.

Time to put some light into the shade!
Anyone out there who still uses the old original (1.0) plastic base water filter?

Mine is not that old, only about 6 years. But I am still using the original glass. Although I haven't broken it yet it the two pieces have been fused together since the first couple of months of purchase. I had put some lube from my pax onto the glass in an attempt to prevent them from sticking and ironically they never came apart again..

So your nick is VapeKnight - you should name your filter Excalibur :D :D

Guess you've tried a lot of different things - but i got one 'unusual trick' i use for clogged water lines that might work here:

Attach a hand/bicycle pump with a hose to the herb chamber (filter outlet might work too). Fill a bucket or tub with water so u can fill the filter with hose connected complete with water and draw in water into the pump (as few air bubbles as possible in the system). Then hold the filter outlet closed with your thumb while giving quick bursts/hits onto the pump handle - that should create even pressure strokes over the whole surface (it travels like a hammer stroke in water as incompressible fluid). Might be tough to do with only 2 hands bc the hose probably needs to be hold onto the herb chamber but maybe a zip tie works...

Anyone out there who still uses the old original (1.0) plastic base water filter?
The story behind that question (anyone wanna sell me one?) - i just stumbled over one at a flea market 2 weeks ago (my mind said you've already got one, but a 2. one at my sisters house would be nice...)
Now i just found the original bill laying inside the handbook - Dated 2/1999  (10 years before this thread was started!)
it still got the original herb holder which was without a stem, the gooseneck connection is not as good as the 4.0 but it still works nice :)
20th birthday coming up :D!!!

Wow, I wish I was vaping back in 1999. I never even heard about vaporizers until early 2000's when I got a vapor genie. then I still didn't get my first real vape, herbalaire, until 10 years ago. Hopefully I didn't do too much damage combusting the first 20 years...

every time I see one of these older vids I get the urge to paint my Aromed. I remember being very disappointed that nobody was selling a color other than putty in the USA. European stores had videos of their showrooms with 3 or 4 color options.

Hi guys, after many prototypes, here is my mod for the Aromed, it allows to get nice hits with small ammount of herbs, for me it's totally changing the Aromed!
here are some pics:
would you consider making another for sale ?

the mesh is between the two stainless steel parts, it's easy to load and it's possible to make a bigger hole if you want to load more herbs!
Of course I'll give you all the details for this mod if someone is interested, just ask!

@VapeKnight - yes like the red one (a clever seller would create an inofficial canadian edition :D :brow: )

as i'm searching for better glass options (still mailed R&E if they've some old ones left :brow:), anyone got the one pictured above? also avaiable at verdampftnochmal, but i'm still looking for the right searchwords to find those bubblers with hose connection :hmm:

Yep, I've the red one since 10y. Was my first vape.

You can use any water piece you like with an integrated perc. You only need the short bowl without stem. Since I use that bowl I like my Aromed much more in handling. I hate that original instable small bubbler which is connected to the Aromed by a ribbon and the hassle with the goose neck to get a proper seat between the heater and the bowl. Much easier with a separate stable piece.

Yes, i also don't like the current 4.0 filter - in older pic's there is a different one
Geschichte-Swiss-CannaTrade-2002-01.jpg

but also doesn't look too stable to me - could not find any pic in the net with the tiny rectangular plastic filter (height and width like the unit), maybe i'll upload a pic from a brochure that came with it. Still got the original downstem (i believe) ~6cm long :D the herb holder was without stem for that filter...btw that version does not 'clip in' but still works fine without seal.
What makes it a bit more complicated, it got no rubber band on the back and the neck is a bit shorter than the 4.0 which limit's height a bit (probably designed for the smaller filter)...

Just used that one

it works, the hose fits in the MP - but stability sucks...could add a band but that would still suck for me...

So i'm looking for something small (~4inch or low side cart) and simple (preferably only a diffuser downstem or one honeycomb) with a wide stable base and a ~12mm ID mouthpiece or hose connection...
So far the VDN piece is the best i found...

Look at DHGate. There you'll find a lot of suitable wp.

BTW a 135° angled joint of a higher piece works better with the goose neck than a 180° one in my experience.

so far most pieces i find are almost there like this:
glass-bong-oil-rigs-recycler-4-inch-high-with-14.5mm-joint-glass-water-pipe-with-honeycomb-perc.jpg

only 4 inch tall, just a female connection is missing and i don't want to add height :\ (i'm picky :D )
Straight intake at the center has the advantage of the neck holding it in place when used with whip - i need a 'foolproof as possible' setup bc i know myself and my sister  (still undecided if i should keep the 4.0 or the old one at my house :hmm:)

yes, i've seen that - tempting 'foolproof' aspect would be to use a ground glass hose connector which gets pulled out when 'to much force is applied' for any reason
But honestly the other VDN piece looks much better considering the price...

I've already edit the post with an advise to the whip connectors.
May be but I think the called one by you isn't available anymore.

Sorry, I haven't seen it. Yep, could be the right one for your preferences and much cheaper.
But you can do it ONLY with a hose.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think for use with hose it's better to have less volume in the can?
That's the main reason i'm tending most to the deBulb...
The Magic Flight Orbiter would also be nice - somehow a smaller version of the Ehle...
The Ehle is probably the best 'allround' solution (the can alone is only 59€) - imo Aromed should upgrade their glass to that style and add a ground connection between heater glass and bowl top...
But fingers crossed, still hoping R&E responds that they have some original plastic filters left (i'm also a completionist :D). To me the older filter version seems even better than the current, more stable, well ok it's plastic but a short herb holder makes up for that - it almost makes me paranoid having the burden of handling a 19 year old herb holder, gotta get a 2. one to preserve the antique
