@RUDE BOY mentions this because no image was present in the post.

I can see the image. It's an old biddy who rules the UK, and I forgot it is indeed the grandmother, not the mother. Saw her once on a visit to the old country. At least they said it was her in the limo.

Brett Favre got hooked on painkillers that were initially prescribed and monitored by his doctors for pain. He had to go to rehab to try to get off the addiction or face severe health issues.

...and doctors and lawmakers worry more that cannabis legalization will be a danger to public health.

I should have put this in the Fuck You thread.

I would never not stand for the national anthem as it represents respect for our flag which is symbolic of our nation, the American people & the men & women who serve(d) in our military & those who have sacrificed their lives in service for this country. No country is perfect, but we still are the freest people on Earth & I'm grateful for that.

I love how people always bring the people serving in the military into this. I'm the product of a military family, great grandfathers , grand fathers, father, Aunts, and uncles, myself, and all siblings served in the military, most unlike me had 25-30 year careers, (my father did 35 years) not one would feel slighted by this. I have had family members die for my/our many freedoms including our rights to exercise our first amendment rights.

I do take exception to some things like when I went to a team usa soccer match where people were wearing flags like ponchos and had flag patterned stadium seats, now that's disrespect.

Why shouldn't people bring the military up? The military are the ones that protect this country & the flag is a symbol of our nation which flies on every military base here & abroad. The flag drapes every coffin of every fallen service man or woman, it drapes the coffins of veterans who request a military funeral service & it flies high when Taps is played.

To me, the U.S. flag represents the hard earned achievement of enlightened liberty by those who fought for it for us in the 18th century. When the flag is flown to respect those achievements and remind us all of their significance, I stand proudly to honor them. When the flag is flaunted at professional sporting events and for political pomp as a salute to pseudo nationalism and to the military it nauseates me. I respect what some NFL players and others have done over the past couple of years. They've let others know that to them the flag does not mean mindless deference to vague (and usually flawed) nationalist sentiments. In my opinion, those who have taken a knee at the playing of the national anthem, as brave representatives of fellow citizens who do not share the same rights and privileges that are bestowed automatically upon others (mostly due to the color of their skin), are taking a stand along side those who fought for enlightened and true liberty at the dawn of the founding of the U.S. They are honorable, not people we should be condemning.

I hope that with this new nfl rule that players use pre and post press access to talk about social justice instead of sports. Since the nfl is limiting their first amendment rights during the anthem they deserve a chance to talk about issues that concern them. Advertisers, owners, and politicians don't own players minds.

A sports hero of mine, Muhammed Ali, gave up his freedom, for today's folks to speak their mind. How soon we forget.

There are so many mind/mood altering approaches available sometimes I wonder what my "real" mood is or should be?

When I'm angry.... I run harder and the intensity of my strength training is way higher BUT after that run I'm completely chill. Hours later, when the high from the cannabis and exercise wear off, it's likely that I'll go back to being pissed but not nearly as pissed as I was originally.

So which mood was the "real" one? The mood where I was so angry I couldn't see straight or the mood after cannabis and exercising that has me questioning why I was so angry in the first place?

Just started a new job. As much as work sucks sometimes, I'm glad to be doing work I enjoy.

Why would anyone want to do a job they don't enjoy? I know money is usually the answer, then there are family and social expectations that can impact the decision.

No one has to live my life but me, so as much as I respect some opinions, I still have to do what feels right to me.

Can you feel me?

So I read this book where the author starts getting high in college for the 1st time. At first he wonders why everyone is so friendly to him. Do they see he is high and thus treat him differently? Or does he interpret other people's behaviors as being more friendly because he is high? Later he concludes that since he himself becomes more warm and friendly when high it affects the other's behaviors. They then mirror his attitude back to him.

Concerning the NFL players and the national anthem fracas, I really feel like this is the media yanking on people's (hysterical) patriotism. I couldn't understand what was going on, only to find out that this "grand tradition" only just started in 2009. It was part of a little-known propaganda initiative paid for by the US DoD, they gave the NFL big (taxpayers) dollars to do this and the half-time military tributes.

Although I am an American who grew up there, oftentimes I'll hear/read/see something about current events in US and there's a disconnect because I simply don't recognise what's happening in my country. It's a different type of news and radio than I remember. Growing up, I don't remember such a high level of nationalism that borders on jingoism or fascism - like it's a requirement for citizenship and if you're not screaming "USA! USA!" at every single event.

I realise that this isolationist mentality is shared by many of my countrymen/women but it's embarrassing and rude to see expressed here in this forum so much. It's a forum on the WorldWideWeb but many either don't grasp that fact or truly do not think about the members beyond their borders. I guarantee you that those members notice that shit every time. I read recently that <25% of Americans have ever applied for a passport. I believe that's the lowest you'll find among developed countries and it says something.

I try to avoid politics here and often bite my tongue, but it KILLS me when I hear shit like "murica is the greatest/freest country on earth". Just like it's from a textbook. I'm not ex-military but have been a DoD civilian contractor in another life*, I still support the military and their families abroad. Every country has pros and cons, and @Summer is right: no country is perfect. But I assure you that millions of people in the world don't understand why we (US) think we're all that, it's amusing to them.

That's my random thought, I've never posted here and probably shouldn't in the future. Or just silliness.

Thank you @Mr. Gweilo 420 @steama @GetLeft @shredder for getting me riled enough to post this RT!

* Hair way past my shoulders too, everyone knew I partook but it was a total "don't ask/don't tell" thing or "you wonder but don't know". My career in the private sector was same, even at conservative corporations, if you can perform most people don't care ime. Especially working with military types, I thought I would catch hell going on different branches bases. Exact opposite. I'm always treated respectfully & cool.

I notice the people who are offended by athletes kneeling for the anthem are usually the ones who think people who get offended by other people's actions are worthy of ridicule and should be discredited.

Oh boo hoo did an athlete hurt your feelings? Don't be so sensitive. You're just looking for trouble. Snowflakes.

Ok I'll get it out of my system. When I blow my nose, I do it to honor Baker's who wake up early, making sacrifices for our freedom to eat donuts and muffins.

America should blast their anthem at random times throughout the day. Everyone has to stop what they're doing, and prove they are red blooded Americans, not pink blooded commies! Quiz everyone on the pledge. Don't know it, get out!

Ok, that was all stupid on my part, take none of it serious.
