Puffco Peak

Is it weird that I think the Puffco ceramic has better taste than the fadespace quartz insert even on blue?

not weird, I used a Divine Tribe V3 for a while, alumina ceramic has good taste and good thermal properties.

I use opaque quartz in my daily driver setup, I like it a lot. I feel it functions better than standard quartz,

My LHS just got some of these in today, at first I was tempted to run over and grab one, but then I remembered this thread. Just really don't want to spend almost $400 on something if it isn't going to work properly and cause a headache with support. Gunna have to hold off a few more months to see if they improve on it

Almost there...
I posted this earlier...in the wrong thread, so I thought I would share in the correct thread!

There is a glass artist on IG that is making some sweet looking glass and different carb options.
Sorry oil is not my forte so the lingo may be wrong! LOL!

Check him out, nice to have options!
I just follow him as I enjoy his 'member berries from South Park!!

@ohmygodimsohigh appreciate the peak review on vimeo. Well done as always.

I don't recall you touching on the reliability issues owners here have been experiencing, probably b/c you seem to not have experienced any of them, but would appreciate any feedback you might have given how much experience you have w the unit now (and no I'm not talking about how much it has improved your table tennis stroke ).

My replacement Peak is due to be delivered next Monday, 24 days after it stopped working. That's on top of the 16 days it took to replace my atomizer the first time it broke. In the 49 days that I've owned my Peak, it has worked for 15 of them.

So most of you may already know me from the Liger thread. a portable e-rig for concentrates has intregued me from the beginning. I was one of the first people to buy the V1 Henail that became the Dabado/Boost. I have a QQ, an Incendio (same thing, different heater), a DT V3, and a few of the other 510 enail mods.
I REALLY want to find something that hits like the Liger on the road without a torch.

The Peak has been the closest thing to that for me so far. I really do love it. Unfortunately, I think they should include a few atomizers because those seem to be extremely susceptible to thermal shock and don't last very long.
Perhaps they should have made the heater under the ceramic cup metal like the Source nail XXL. I haven't used the Source nail XXL with SiC, but it looks promising for a pen!

I have a feeling between failing atomizers and the fact that the battery life is inferior, the Dr. Dabber Switch will take most of the sales away from Puffco once it's released.

Let me say again, I LOVE this thing, and until something (switch?) dethrones it, the Peak is still the best portable dab rig in my arsenal. It DOES beat the Dr dabber boost and the QQ/Sai with nibbler for sure.
Will it beat the Switch? I doubt it.

I will probably take the money I would have spent on the next few $50 atomizers and just put that towards a switch. The induction heater should outlive 10x Puffco Atomizers.

I used my atomizer daily muliple times a day for over a month with no issues what so ever. Mine broke from putting too much pressure on it and puffco still replaced it for free. I feel like 90% of the problems with atomizers are from user error.

Personally I dont see the switch as an alternative at all. Its got nice features with the induction heater and battery life. But it looks big and bulky and I hate the hanging awkward glass attachment. It looks like a bigger boost with an upgraded heater/nail

Assuming this premise is true - and there isn't any evidence to suggest that it is - then the fault lies squarely with Puffco for designing a device that seems highly susceptible to unintentionally induced failure. That said, I barely touched my atomizer the first time it broke, and even less so the second time it broke, in an abundance of caution. Oh, and my base stopped working too

Totally coincidentally, in spite of the issues I've had with Puffco recently, I was gifted with a Puffco Plus yesterday. I quite like the way it's working so far - as I like the Peak, when it actually works. But the QR code on the warranty card sent me to a broken link, so I had to email their customer service again  Oh, the many great ironies of life

All I know is that I follow puffcos directions of not rinsing with water, and not qtipping around the atomizer and soaking in iso before it gets real dirty and i have had no issues whatsoever using it on average 4-5 times a day every day for over a month

I have the EQ inserts currently and they're terrible for the peak (along with their customer service). Seems like they're too thin, which leads to a hot dab, even on the lowest setting.

It seems like you have done the most research in this thread on inserts. Which do you like the most so far? As of now, I've gone back to my ceramic insert, if I want to hit my peak.

I feel as soon as I can find the right insert, I'll be loving this unit. As for now it's ok, but I'd rather hit my regular rig with e-nail, since the flavor is better on that. I would love to be unplugged from the wall though haha!

You asked the question of @Mynameismud , but I will field an answer from my personal experience.
I have tried 3 different quartz inserts.along with 1 sapphire, and 2 after market silicone carbides.....
I have found the stock inserts to function the best out of all 6 that I have tried.
I know some of us have preferences, and some oar "flavor-grabbers", but I find best flavor, and easiest maintenance with the Puffco Peak original stock cups.

Thanks for your reply and input. Have you happened to have try Joe Halen's quartz insert yet? I was going to try that one next. But i'm hesitant on spending $40 on another insert if it's going to leave me with too hot of dabs again.

I just recently went back to the stock ceramic cup a couple days ago and I'm pretty happy with the flavor. The only problem is the ceramic cups are just a little harder to keep clean.

I feel like if someone just made a thick quartz insert, it would work well.

Eternal was criticized earlier in this thread for making too thick of a quartz insert. I think this just shows how variable personal preference is when it comes to flavor.
Really? That's interesting. Wouldn't a thick quartz insert be the clear solution with the flavor if it's too hot? The thinner the quartz, the quicker and hotter it gets.

No. I am happy with what I have, and see no reason to invest more thought or initiative to improve my experience.
Over 10 years it has been my experience that hunting for third party improvements is at times a waste of time. NOT always... but 6 times out of ten.

It should, but if you read this whole thread people were saying the EQ insert was too thick and how great it might work if only it was thinner. Maybe someone with the old version would be down to trade!

I ordered some of these, should be here soon. I'll let you know but they look too thin, but they may be perfect, I'll keep you posted.
EDIT: ok these came in and they are about perfect. For $3 you can’t lose! Far left is the dh gate , other quartz is the smallest CCA Liger insert.

Also the 14mm of these would probably work ok, I am using a 17mm also and it works but not as well as the small Liger insert.

I have had great luck with the CCA 16mm SIC and quartz for the ligers.
