Dutch syrup waffles

These guys? Stroopwafels right? My best friend lives in Amsterdam and brings me these all the time! I can find them in Greece but they're just... meh. Love them on top of a mug with hot coffee next to a hot vapcap!

Are they also called stroopwafels in the UK?

My pregnant girlfriend sees them as a basic need and a picture of it should be added to this hierarchy:

The VC should be added to 'safety' and this thread to 'belonging' :peace:

Top it off with some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, or whipped cream and strawberries, and you have me
tweeting for more, please! :spliff:

First of all, I'd like to apologise to the mods for being off topic in the DV thread.

Second: the stroopwafel thread caused something that happens maybe once or twice a year: it made me laugh before my first caffeine shot :D

Stroopwafel thread

They're gorgeous... I spent a couple of years in the Netherlands working and these are one of my favourite Dutch treats. Can be suspended almost indefinitely in hot coffee without falling apart.

Have a soft spot for Vla and Kaassouffle too...
:mmmm:

Oh, and Koffie Melk

 Now I'm derailing the stroopwafel thread...

I had to laugh when I read this thread. I am a Dutch citizen, but I barely eat stroopwafels. They're okay but nothing special to me :p

I really like poffertjes though, they're great!

Vla is really nice! Koffie Melk is a typical Dutch thing? I actually thought it was a thing in most countries.

I'm surprised noone has mentioned frikandel, kroket or bitterbal so far. IMO they're great. Well, not for your health of course:D

A few years ago I tried to eat no meat....but those damned bitterballen and kroketten always ruined it!

Ah, Stroopwafel! :smug:

Fell in love as a teenager on first visit to Netherlands in 1970's, several years before trying cannabis.

Sadly, Stroopwafel are very eggy, like the Italian pizzelle. Both are casualties to veganism.

Last year, Canna (the Dutch, veganic plant nutrient company) sent cases of miniature, individual Stroopwafel to their world-wide distributors to celebrate some anniversary. As a loyal Canna customer, the local grow shop asked: "Would you like one of these Dutch cookies?"

"Stroopwafel!" :luv:

"Yeah, whatever."

"Are they vegan?"

"I don't know."

"Good enough. Yes, please!"

Heavenly. :spliff:

Visited Netherlands several times since, last in 2005. Need to get back.

Im not sure about elsewhere, but you don't get it in the UK. Usually it's "normal" pasteurised milk or cream (if you're lucky)...
The closest thing we have to koffie melk is condensed milk, which is sweetened evaporated milk, and (generally) nobody puts it in coffee.

I love frikandel, my favourite Febo food along with kaassouffle, but really don't like kroket

What I never understood was karnemelk...
