E-nail coil material ?

Can some tell me what is the other shell of an e-nail coil made of ? Apologies if that is already raised question in a thread, please point me to it.
I see that some coils are black and others are shiny .. which is what ? The black ones might be stainless steel, it turns black after heater to red.
After reading about coil heaters in general here is some general info.

Insulation materials include ceramics, fiberglass, fluoropolymers, magnesium oxide, and mica.

  • Ceramics consist of nonmetallic minerals, such as clay, that are permanently hardened by high-temperature firing. Most ceramics resist heat and chemicals.
  • Fiberglass is strong, durable, and impervious to many caustics and extreme temperatures.
  • Fluoropolymers, such as Teflon, are inert to most chemicals and extremely slippery.
  • Magnesium oxide is a high temperature electrical insulator that is often in the form of a compacted powder.
  • Mica is a colored or transparent mineral silicate that is crystallized in monoclinic forms and readily separated into very thin leaves. Mica is valued for its electrical insulating properties and resistance to heat and acids.
Sleeve, sheath, or jacket materials include aluminum, brass, copper, fluoropolymer, iron, nickel alloy, rubber, steel, and stainless steel.

So it seems it is some kind of steel but which one and why no ever mentions it,there are 1000s of places that cell it, and not even one lists the specifics of the sheath material.

Is there any legit place to get coils with sheath out of Titanium or 316L ?

I have read nickel chrome, Ni80Cr20, so I think it depends on the manufacturer.

We also have this thread that I just found:

I am pretty sure Ni80CR20 is the resistance wire not the outside sheath.
Edited:

Thx for the link so it appears it is Ni Cr Steel. I gotta look into that shit it.
Well it is a very general thing to say about steel there are numerous alloys which all fall under Ni-Cr Steel . What a pity in this "health conscious industry" that no one gives a shit about the exact specs of their products.
There is coil heater manufacturer in my country who claim that they can do custom materials and sizes. I will shoot them an e-mail inquiring about Ti sheathed coils or at least 304/316/316L..

Ive been talking with a friend recently about making a pre press for rosin chips in 316
Never thought about the coils tho, but I do remember being able to taste the coil while hitting a enail so i totally get why you want it made in ti or 316

How could you taste the coil when it is wrapped on the outside of the vapor path? Fresh air comes from above, again, not really from anywhere beneath the dish/banger or close to the coil. Shouldn't taste anything. You sure you aren't thinking of a coil you place a dab on inside of a pen atomizer?

Almost there...

I think the reason is that whenever the material heats up, it may release certain compounds at certain temps.
Even though air is breathed through, it is still surrounded by air heated by the coil.

Ok, just got a reply from the local coil heater manufacturer. He said it can be done with 316 or 316L. Which of those you think it is better for the purpose ?
Also he asked for detailed specs ,can some help with that ?
Specs asked :
1.Material 316 or 316L which is better ?
2.Diameter of the coil tube (the tube that builds the spiral). Which one is best >?
3.OD and ID of the coil 15.8/19.8 vs 16-20 ID which is better ?
4.Height of the coil
5. Heater wire material ( i guess it is Ni-chrome 80-20 wire in Mg0 )and length ?
6. What type of thermocouples does my controller support ( i dont have a controller but have in mind a typical e-nail controller, i read there are J or K types or else ?
7.Cable length
8. Coil power 100w or 250w ? What is better ?
This is info from auberins site.
20.0 mm Coil Heater 20.0 mm Nail for 20.0 mm Coil
Power rating: 100W at 110V AC or 220V AC
Coil size: 20.0 mm ID, 12.7 mm width.
Cable length: 55 in. with braided Kevlar sleeve.
Temperature range: 200 to 1000°F.
What is meant as widht ? Is it the height of the coil ?

Excuse me for the scattered posting i will revisit it later if it is not too late i found some additional info from Alibaba.

It was the enail type coil that was wrapped around a cauldron style banger from dabinator,
I might have hit it too hard or done something els wrong since im a total e-nail noob :D

That doesn't sound like you "tasted" a coil. How do you know it wasn't the taste of a dirty nail or crap concentrates? I am not an enail noob...and yet I have no idea what a coil "tastes" like. Hmm

Well the banger was clean and never chazed, the concentrate was flower rosin made from highgrade flowers pressed at low temp, i dont think these factors were to blame

However i think what might have happend was me pulling too hard drawing air over the coil from the sides of the banger which manifested it self in a metallic taste to the hit.

It might have been set way too hot
And it was a cheap coil from china
