Recommend A Portable

Whats up FC im relatively new here and was directed here to ask for recommendations on a new portable.

I have been a daily smoker of blunts and more recently joints for years and am attempting to convert to the vape life full time. So i suppose im looking for an experience similar to smoking.

Ive had a Pax 3 for about a year and it was my first experience with vaping. Its ok, but its smelly and doesnt produce vapor like I was really hoping for. After purchasing it last year I have since went back to predominantly smoking. I will likely be selling this with the arrival of a new portable.

I just bought a shiny new Volcano about 2 weeks ago and Im looking for a portable to compliment it. Note here that the Storz & Bickel get bonus points for dosing cap compatibility (This will mostly be used on my back deck. Will probably only be used truly on the go about 20% of the time. Some things that weigh strongly for me:

-Ease of use
-Frequency/ease of cleaning/maintenance
-“Smoking” feel (dense thick vapor, session is what kinda feels right)
-Reliability
-Good taste and effects
-mainly vape flower

Budget isnt really an issue but obviously value helps. From my research Ive been leaning towards a Crafty or Mighty. Are these likely my best options for my needs or am I overlooking some?

Appreciate all the answers, thanks!!

I would recommend reading the best of VapCap thread, close ritual to smoking and efficient as hell. The Mighty is supposed to be great but I don`t like all the problems, not for that much money. I also like the look of the new Tera from Boundless (Now the initial rollout fiasco is sorted and they start shipping the new non Teflon models)
If you like to use a watertool I would also recommend the Healthy Rips Fury2, it should be called the bong buddy because it is great on a water pipe, I hated bongs when I used to combust, but it is a whole different animal with a vape, try it .

I have been checking out the vapcaps due to all of the love they receive. They are cool and simple but im not sure I want to need a torch. I think that as i delve deeper into the vaping word I will end up grabbing one but for this go round I want something that will just cruise.

I may just get a vapcap now as well though...hard to argue with the cheap price!

And I just pulled the cap out of mine and stuck it in a 14mm to 14mm male gong fitting for an all glass airpath and better wpa. They are like Leggos, mix, match whatever you want to try.
I only use my Fury2 as a portable, much more stealthy than any other vaporizer that I have and I like their warranty, if it craps itself after the warranty runs out Healthy Rips will replace for half price, not that it looks like crapping itself anytime soon.

A few to consider are the haze 3, milaana and the tubo. I don't have official statistics but I suspect that the tubo has a higher satisfaction rate than the majority of other vapes. The software is often updated and you can find whatever settings give you the vapor you want. You can use it on demand or set it to cruise mode so it will run for however many seconds you want it to run.

I think that people who look at reviews on the major review sites miss some of the better vapes that are made by FC members.

If stealth is important there is the fury 2.

ive seen the Tubo getting a lot of love as well. Its just tough because there are so many options and its all pretty subjective as far as reviews go and what is best.

Stealth isnt a deciding factor but a vape will get bonus points for sure if it smells significantly less than others.

Keep the suggestions coming!

I have a tubo evic, its a really good vape BUT it is NOT a real portable imo.. and battery also dont last so long.

Some months ago i followed the advice of an other user that said to me "get a vapcap", i took an Omnivap XL and WOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Its just perfect, really easy to clean, it hits like a desktop vape and is so beautifull. I was like you at the beginning, and now i hate portable vapes that works with battery ^_^

Batteries are also dangerous, i hate the idea of an exploding vaporizer :freak:

PS if someone (europe based) is interested in a "like new" tubo evic i can sell you mine.

You might consider a sticky brick or lotus they are both butane powered, the user experience is similar to that of using a pipe. The quality and quantity of vapor depends on your breath work. Both vapes can provide some huge clouds. I like the Dynavap line but the bowl is a little small.

those evil germans force u to get a mighty  bc that
-Ease of use
-Frequency/ease of cleaning/maintenance
-“Smoking” feel (dense thick vapor, session is what kinda feels right)
-Reliability
-Good taste and effects
-mainly vape flower
literally sounds like a list of reasons to get the mighty

Hey Crown! It sounds like you are excited about building a collection and I have a few of the above mentioned, hopefully it’ll help:

After I bought my Volcano (like 6months after) I bought a Mighty. LOVED it. Get the water adapter if you’re into Bongs. There is something about a Mighty through water that is unparalleled. Soon after (after much lurking on this site) I picked up an Omnivap. I fucken LOVE this thing! — it truly replicates the ritual of smoking. Didn’t touch my Volcano or Mighty for like a week..

But then idk if it’s out of laziness or just habit but I slowly went back to my Volcano and Mighty ;)

Now I actually use all 3. The Mighty is more of a session vape.. meaning you have to sort of commit to the bowl — you can’t take a puff and put it down like you can with a Vapcap.
But with a Vapcap, heating.. puffing, re-heating sometimes can be a drag. Let me put it you this way: I get high with my Volcano or Mighty but I stay high with my Omnivap (A few more hits here and there, or in the middle of the night when I don’t wanna wait for something to heat up)

So to me, having both options as portables was actually a REALLY good investment that I do recommend.

I think I’d buy a Woodscent if I could go back (Instead of the Omnivap) because it already comes with a Vapcap, but it’s a Desktop unit that supplies constant heat. (And I’m gonna end up getting one anyway xP)

I’ll add the grasshopper. It’s had some issues but I love mine!

If you have the budget to support it, you were spot on with the Mighty in the first place!

literally sounds like a list of reasons to get the mighty

I would steer clear of the Mighty and Grasshopper, I would not want an unreliable vape as my first vape, there are too many other vapes available that won`t let you down as much as those 2.

My vote goes to Mighty, i use it daily..on vacation, @work...everywhere...and it performs..always..the vape that made me quit smoking, i´m not into the Mighty Thread on here big so dunno what problems occur but i love mine as a portable...Pax, Davinci, Hydrology are the electric ones i also tried and performance wise nothing compares even close IMO

Had a Crafty before but battery runtime is just too short and i hated dialing in temps via phone/BT, also had a volcano but sold that, if u r only on ur own the Mighty is alot easier to handle, silent and doesnt need bags..

I like/love the vapcap aswell and if ur more into a smoking like experience this should fit u more but for outdoor use i clearly prefer the mighty, more discreet (even more with the capsules) and way less fiddling with packing a bowl and firing it up (weather isnt always sunny aswell)

..just my 0,02c :)

Arizer portables are super reliable and have an all glass air path for great flavour and I have only swabbed out the oven twice in the almost 12 months that I have owned my Air. The only bits that need cleaning are the stems, I have about 6 stems as I am a fumbler and took a while to put carpet down where I vape to stop breaking them all the time.(replacement stems are lesss than $5 delivered off ebay)
Arizer portables are also made from aluminium (not plastic like the cracking up Mighty).

Are you happy blowing bags to take out on the back deck?

Not really. When i go out back on a nice day i want to relax

Ive been filling a few bags each time i use the volcano so unless i prefilled a few and took them all on the deck with me, id have to keep going back to fill up again

Extension cord. I frequently run my Flowerpot off an extension cord cause no portable can compare.

Should we start a "Desktop Vapes in the Wild" photo thread??

Here's one from Christmas. My whole family gathered around the tree.... and then started vaping it!

He said he wanted to relax, not be a juggling octopuss, bong, fp, dabber, carb tool, q-tip etc,

I never suggested he get a Flowerpot, I simply suggested he run an extension cord so he can blow bags on his balcony. I used a Volcano for many years and took it everywhere because like the OP, I'm familiar with being disappointed by portable vaporizers.

OP said he's not happy blowing bags cause he has to keep going back in the house.

If he wants to purchase a whole other vaporizer that's cool, I'm just suggesting a simple solution already in place.

For what it's worth, none of the items you listed are necessary for a flower hit out of the FP but the water pipe. It's a very simple system.
