Shoulder pain - CBD

I suffer from chronic inflammations in my right shoulder and the only thing that helps me (besides Cortison and heavy painkillers which I hate both) during peak times is CBD oil taken orally over the course of some days. The inflammation always stops and the pain is gone for several days or even weeks. Pain level goes down from 8-9 (out of 10) to 0-2. It‘s quite impressive each and every time.

I did not have the same great experience with CBD lotions, butter or whatever you only put on the skin directly. Even with my own home made high percentage CBD extracts as a base. Oral medication is my way to go with CBD.

I'm no Dr but assist some folks and my experience is that topical CBD works best for conditions right next to the skin, or on the skin itself.
My plantar fasciitis responded fantastic to CBD pain cream (1200 mg in 3 oz of oils). BUT, that really sore heel area is directly next to the skin and it gets even closer when you walk---pushed close. Heel pain and inflammation goes way down with CBD.

Topicals seem to work less effectively on deeper pain, like shoulder pain, lower back pain, etc. It's like it cannot penetrate that deep.
For those deep pains, most responded MUCH better to CBD gummies. Shoulder pain, back pain, etc were helped much more with the gummies. NOTE- most liked gummies as easy peazy to take and dose with no unpleasant mouth taste. Most disliked oil taken orally because of taste etc and it likely is effective, they just didn't like how administered.

I'm a big supporter of CBD although personally I would prefer CBD plus THC cream and gummies BUT not legal here :(

Just to clear up a misconception, topicals with THC don’t get you high (well, maybe if you rub them on your brain somehow, or put the whole thing all over your body), and a lot of people find that a combination of CBD and THC works better than either alone, but CBD can also do a lot of good by itself.

I agree it does more when taken internally too, so consider other delivery methods in addition to topicals. CBD won’t get you “high”, but when taken internally it does have some temporary mental effects. For me (and I believe most people) those effects are mainly reducing anxiety, nothing I would consider bad.

There's a new tiger-balm type of product out, that uses a patented process combining cbd with emu oil. Emu oil is very trendy (and expensive) right now, in that it is allegedly unrivaled as both a skin penetrant, and as a carrier oil. I've been using it on my hernia lately, and it's definitely been providing some relief.

Here's the regular, regular-strength version, other options are twice as strong and with menthol.

I'm using 1200 mg (of CBD) pain cream, made from Colorado hemp. $160 but 1200 mg CBD

I have a big pain in the neck, like a knife sticking in it, but only a small knife :)
Tried a 10 mg CBD gummie and 20 minutes later pain was down 95%

How can a CBD gummie act that fast? I was guessing an hour for any effect--pleasant surprise

80 mg

the transdermal patches that Mary's Medicinals makes are pricey, but good.
I second that. Very not cheap but work extremely well. But the Mary's I had used CBD from strains that were not hemp but high CBD cannabis.

@Silver420Surfer
When they state 80 mg "hemp extract" , I take that to mean hemp oil, aka hemp seed oil which:
"Hemp Oil Has Low CBD
Hemp oil has a very low CBD count (3.5%)"

The label is confusing to me as it seems like it is "hemp oil", not CBD?? If it is CBD, say so on the label IMO.

Hemp oil has its benefits but it is not CBD.

Hemp oil extract contains many phytocannabinoids including cannabidiol (CBD).
Hemp oil does NOT equal hemp seed oil.

Would have to say that doesnt make me think its hemp seed oil at all. I would recommend an email to manufacturer to alleviate your concerns to be sure.

I have no idea wat you mean about 3.5%...its the finished product that matters(if it says 100mg CBD...% means nothing...you have 100mg CBD)

My wife has shoulder pain and she asked me to get her some CBD hemp body butter.

https://www.endoca.com/product/hemp-whipped-body-butter-1500mg-cbd/

She does not want anything that will get her high. Has anyone use this have or any other suggestions? Thanks

Topicals, even made with THC, DO NOT get you high. Transdermal patches on the other hand will, if they contain enough THC.

Hemp oil does NOT equal hemp seed oil.
.................................................................
I was going by Wikipedia defin: they say hemp oil is the same as hempseed oil.
And the jar uses term of "hemp extract" , 80 mg. That may or may not be CBD?? If it is CBD, why don't they state it as such instead of fuzzy "hemp extract?

I have emailed them as they never use "CBD" anywhere in their product info and specs so it makes me wonder...
Will post tje answer from them

Hemp oil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • hemp oil or hempseed oil is obtained by pressing hemp seed
.....................................................................................................
EDIT: what I'm saying is that their terminology is very very unclear .
"Hemp extract , 80 mg"

For example, what is " cannabis extract, 80 mg"? Could be a thousand things.
80 mg THC is clear. 80 mg CBD is clear. Hemp extract, 80 mg.... ???

Let us know if they reply to your inquiry. I'm a firm believer of getting info direct from the source.

I think this may help clear up
What is Hemp Oil?
The term hemp oil can be used to describe any and all oil that is extracted from any part of the hemp plant. Hemp oil can be made from the plant’s stalks, flowers, and seeds.

All hemp oils are derived from the hemp plant, but there are different types depending on which part of the plant they’re extracted from and their purpose. Generally, there are three different types of hemp oil:

  1. CBD oil
  2. Hemp seed oil
  3. Hemp essential oil

HEMP SEED OIL
Hemp seed oil is significantly different from CBD oil. It’s produced by cold pressing hemp seeds, which alone lack any substantial levels of cannabinoids like CBD. As a result, hemp seed oil contains only trace amounts of CBD – typically less than 25 parts per million.

Like CBD oil, hemp seed oil is abundant in essential amino acids, fatty acids, and an array of vitamins and minerals. It has a thinner consistency and can be used as a substitute for traditional cooking oils with the exception of deep-frying. Hemp seed oil is typically found in grocery and health food markets.

While hemp seed oil is very nutritious, its marginal quantity of CBD per weight make its unfeasible as a CBD supplement.

CBD OIL
CBD oil, often times called hemp CBD oil or phytocannabinoid hemp oil, is a thick, viscous oil made from the stalks and seeds of hemp that is naturally high in CBD. CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the more than 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis.

Highly sought after in recent years, CBD is a non-psychoactive and non-addictive compound that interacts with the body through theendocannabinoid system, a signaling network that regulates many of the body’s functions. CBD oil also contains the many essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, terpenes, and flavonoids found in hemp.

A specialized solvent-free extraction process is used to pull the CBD-rich oil from the plant, which is then taken on its own as a daily supplement or infused into products like liquids, tinctures, capsules, and topicals.

HEMP ESSENTIAL OIL
Hemp essential oil is collected and infused into products for aromatic purposes. It is obtained by steam distilling the flowers and upper leaves of hemp, which collects the plant’s fragrant oils.

Expensive and inefficient to produce, hemp essential contains no CBD or any other cannabinoids. Instead, the pale yellow oil is used solely as a scent in candles, perfumes, cosmetics, and soaps, or flavoring in foods and beverages.

As to why some companies may not be labeling cbd:
Many states have already deemed hemp-derived CBD oil a legal and safe product due to its harmless medicinal affects and overall separation from THC-based marijuana, but last week's DEA decision does not make that distinction.

The ingredients on the aponi say it's made from "Pure Hemp Extract Isolate", which from a cursory search should be over 99% pure cbd. I'll call them monday to confirm the cbd amount. There's a few other cbd with emu oil balms out there, but the guys that make aponi say their patented mix/process is different. It sure seems to work for me, and the customers that have given us feedback. The 160 is twice the strength as the 80, for only 50% more in cost. I've been wanting to ask them about storage requirements anyways.

Edibles start working for me in 20-30 mins, but are more effective after an hour or more. It’s definitely possible to start feeling them sooner though. Liquids also seem to hit me faster than solids.

I sent an email inquiry because aponi's listed contact telephone is in the UK, and I didn't have immediate access to the rep's california (I think) number. Here's their reply:

"The number listed with the product is actually the milligrams of CBD in the product! The balm80 has 80 mg, and balm160 has 160mg.
Ideally, just keep the products out of the bright sun and/or heat, in a dry place. Just like you would store vitamins or anything like that."

It depends on the extent of the injury, I ended up retired hurt, no more paid work for me, surgery, pain management specialists, drugs, countless physio`s even acupuncture did not fix. Anti inflammatory tablets then ate away the lining on my stomach, so now I have to take more shit for that too. My old GP said I should try marijuana for relief as the stuff he was giving me was literally killing me, (He also said, "But I never told you that").
