Discontinued The Grasshopper

Others have also reported liking just using a drip tip from standard vaporizers. Extends the path and keeps your mouth from the heat.

This works surprisingly well. Just slice off the very last bit of the silicon tip with a razor blade to increase the diameter of the mouthpiece opening. Great for travel because it's unbreakable. And cheap.

Just like to say that, as a new owner of New Vape Flowerpot (and it's every bit as good as they say) I have also come to appreciate the Hopper even more than I used to. The unit is, effectively, a portable FP! Got my fingers crossed that HL emerges from this dark period with an enhanced reputation and satisfied customers because it really is a great portable that works perfectly with my vaping style.

I hope I'm not prematurely praising my new Hopper, but I'm glad that my old Hopper decided to involuntarily disown itself from my family. The new one:
  • Feels more solid overall — clicking it on and off feels more weighty, and turning the temperature dial doesn't feel like it's sanding a piece of steel.
  • Heats up (even with my old batteries) in 3 seconds or less.
  • Needs just one click to turn it on after auto-shutoff, instead of two clicks.
  • Doesn't have self-induced scratches or dents like my old one (though the front-end's threading seems slightly rough).

Overall, seems like some minor but noticeable improvements. Alas, no green light!

EDIT: And this is my first time using my PFE too. Draw resistance is negligible, and the vapor is definitely cooler!

Hey, thanks for the input!
New or RMA?

Hard on Glass
I've had a problem with HL taking a long time answering my support emails, and i said that here on this thread. But since they've answered me last week i made a mental note to come here, as well, and leave the positive feedback.

Today i saw the HL email and let's say i've been more pessimistic lol

I feel it's important to leave this message and explain the situation. I moved, so i lost my GH box. I had the Hopper registered so i thought "it's done for life, who cares about the box". Turns out when it went to RMA they deregistered it (makes sense, i think it even is a different serial number).
So my query was about this. They kindly re-registered my Hopper, no questions asked. A few days later opening boxes i found my hopper box anyway, but that's not the point.

point is i'd read somewhere (maybe reddit) that hopper labs would ask 45$ for this re-registering of the device. That is completely false.

TL;DR
took a while but HL responded and since we've resolved the matter in a very positive way! good work. Also, some negative things i've read about hopper labs are simply false.

Below is from an email exchange with Hopper Labs from 8-29-2017. So it is NOT completely false.

I see this request has your contact email, but the device is actually registered under another persons account. The account email does not match the contact email. Can you confirm who the person with the registered Hopper is?

This is a strange situation as the original device was sent to the person it is registered to through the Indiegogo campaign in 2015. The return shipping information is to their name as well.

I need some clarification about how you came in possession of this Hopper. I need confirmation from the person it is registered to that is is meant to be in your possession and if you want it registered under your account, I need to collect a $45 fee.

I will register your HT Hopper now.

Best,
Caroline

I believe the main concern was whether our Lifetime Warranty would transfer over to a new buyer if we sold our Grasshopper or if Hopper Labs would charge the new owner another $45 to get the same warranty. I haven’t seen any proof one way or the other yet, and Hopper Labs may not want us knowing since they don’t jump in here and make that fact clear. I wouldn’t advise anyone to hold their breath while waiting for the correct answer to this question. ;)

Edit: Just noticed the post where Hopper Labs asks for another $45 from a second-hand buyer to register him.

They didn't chage @howzcat because he was the original owner and they understood that. They themselves unregistered it while in warranty.

The people being charged aren't asking hopper labs to re register a device that hopper labs unregistered, they're asking to register a device under their name that had been registered with soemone else. Big difference.

Right...they didn’t charge the original owner because he was the original owner.... But, what would they have charged a new owner?

Canadian lost in Europe
I found 2.5 to give great flavor and around 4.5 to really have knockout vapor. 5 gets a little too crispy. I start for a few hits at 2.5 and finish off at like 4-4.5 with a few hits then new chamber. I fill it not even halfway, loosely. Still experimenting with best pack density and stuff.

Of course it's not true. There's a difference between a transfer of ownership and a Hopper being "re-registered" (if there is such a thing) to the original registrant.

Recently, one of my Hoppers that had been registered and was serviced several times simply disappeared from the "My Hoppers" list in my account. I contacted HL and they apologized and added it back to the list. There was no question about ownership, since the same Hopper appeared in the history of RMA's section of my account. So, it was just a glitch on the website listing and they corrected it without question. I don't think this is "re-registering".
Another registered Hopper of mine was serviced multiple times, including once given a new back end and, so, a new serial number. 'That one' automatically remained in the listing of "My Hoppers", with it's new s/n.

They would have charged a new owner $45 to transfer the warranty and register the unit. This has been documented many times in these pages, including recently. I don't understand why you continue to question this and speculate that "HL may not want us knowing." They never jump in here to clarify anything, btw.

Scroll up a bit and find link to HL recent blog post. Pretty surprising way they're finally laying it all out. Also pretty encoraging, but the worm will continue to turn slowly for a while.
I'm sure glad some members are getting shipping notices!

Thanks, Vapviking!

Last week I'd gotten an email from "Drew" (don't know what happened to Olivia) saying he expected to get to my December RMA within "5 to 15 days". The very next day I got the ship notice. Expecting it today.

Squeaky wheels.

I saw folks saying the same thing, that it’s another $45 to transfer the Grasshopper Warranty. Then to confuse things others say they didn’t have to pay for another warranty when they became second-hand owners. Best I guess to clarify with Hopper Labs directly, if they’ll ever bother to respond. But I think if I had a business with Hopper’s reputation I’d keep my mouth shut on this forum too. :)

In that situation hopper labs is supposed to add the new hopper to your account. Nothing to do with you. And they DO charge the fee to transfer the warranty to a new owner of a pre owned hopper. At least that was the case when I inquired a few months ago.

Can anyone recommend a source for a rubber grommet to fit over the PFE? (For a tighter seal to a 14mm ground glass connection)

I posted this on Reddit but wanted to ask here too since I think maybe one or two others here has electric blue units that shipped. Did anyone who got theirs notice a coloration issue on the clicker? The hoppers body is gorgeous but the clicker is half unncolored like it didn't get exposed in the anodization process, and like 4-5mm past the point of not having color, it's got some scratches fresh out of the box which bothers me. Can anyone else chime in, is this normal, is it worth a warranty replacement? I'm considering emailing them with pics today but asking if I can hold off on RMAing until they catch up on the backlog in a couple months.
