what temp are you preheating to, and what temp are you trying to hit it at?

That is the issue. I do not want to pre-heat the bowl up to anything. I want to be able to add heater to cold bowl take a hit and get vapor.

That is what I am shooting for anything less to me is not worth my time as it has been tried and delivered.

As far as what temperatures are reached we should look at what temps people dab at, that usually being 500-600F, this means I need minimum temperature of the air to be around 600F, but thats not the case. It actually needs to be a lot more since it needs to heat everything around it instantly.

This is where we are at. With the constant evolving of the body we have to rework other parts.

The original heaters for this was 2400 watts we went down considerably, but need to make sure it works with both.

@biohacker the taste is subjective. Like you said dabbing on a SiC nail feels like convection when it’s not. To me I like the taste of convection more then let’s say an e-nail. It is smoother for some reason.

Others might think different as previous statement of hot air being a bother to some.

But personally for me, I’ll take convection over conduction any day. As long as it’s pure convection. Reason why the long time developing this one.

What if we try to use a different material to start out with?

Use something that can handle really hot temperatures, then create the perfect concentrate bowl for it.

Place that hot ass heater on top of the cold bowl with the concentrate already loaded.

It should almost all vaporize on your initial inhale depending on lung capacity and load size.

Yes this would not be all glass but it'd be a start to better convection devices for concentrates.

All glass vapes are simple as pie when it comes to dabbing concentrates. I'm running a quartz banger in a borosilicate glass bubbler, with a glass dabber and carb cap. The only thing metal anywhere near the vapor path is the enail coil heating the unit.

It's this convection fantasy that makes things way over complicated. Heating the air temp to 700 degrees just for it to cool to 400F two inches further down the vapor path. That's just inefficient. For flower it makes sense as there is lots of particulate plant matter buffering the load. It's great to see people pushing the boundaries and putting their thinking caps on, but sometimes you really don't have to reinvent the wheel.

I'll say it again: Conduction uptemp hits = convection taste and smoothness without the abrasive convection heat.

What devices do you typically medicate with?

What devices do you typically medicate with? I own much of your product line and its very much conduction centric.

How does uptemping work when wanting to do back to back hits?

Is it impossible?

Do you just flip the power switch after every dab so the nail is cool and ready for the next?

Exactly, it depends on your controller. My high5 lcd is absolute tits and has a separate switch for the coil so I can just watch the temp drop. I don't do uptemp hits every time, I mostly stay around the 500's for the majority of my strains. But it's definitely the smoothest tastiest way to experience rosin IMO!

Not impossible at all. It's gonna add a few more minutes to your session, but worth the time if you are sensitive to vapor and seeking the highest quality experience. Ideally the serious uptemper would want to use a smart PID controller with built in uptemp timings so you don't have to fiddle with anything.

Im assuming the best equipment is the Hex Nail correct?

If so, do you have any idea of how long it takes for the nail to cool down?

Is there a certain reason that there is no warranty returns accepted, other than if it arrives dead on arrival?

I’m a little lost on what we are talking about?

I was looking around on the website and noticed the warranty for the Utopia says "No warranty is given other than dead on arrival"

https://imgur.com/a/5epT1iN

I can understand the warranty not covering users dropping or damaging the glass vaporizer, but I feel the controller should at least come with some type of 2 or 3 year warranty.

Just go look at what happened with the sv4 and it's temperature controller.

Oh don’t worry about that.

It needs to be updated once we have all the parts it will be.

That’s just a place holder for it.

Also we are almost done rewiring some of the heaters and should get back on schedule end of month for testing.

Good on you Gary keep it coming along. A lot of intrigue on this one. I know you have copped a bit of flak on the tinmeline, but then what do people expect? This is the vaporizer of the FUTURE after all, so much so that it is having a harder time than usual making it to the PRESENT!:tup:

Any news, updates for us?
No activity from you for almost 2 years now and I see your website is also gone.

@Stu
Have you heard anything around the water-cooler??

They went out of business @lazylathe. I believe almost 2 years ago! I believe he said in the Triton unboxing with Samurai Sam, if the Triton didn't succeed, he was gonna move on to the trucking buslness or something to that effect. How much was he wanting for one of these things, like a grand or something.

Missed that...
May want to discontinue the thread then.

The price was listed as US$700 but he said that was just to put something up on the website and was not the actual price.

With hardly any proof of concept and quite wild ideas, he most likely spent way too much on R&D and ran out of money.

Unit cost $700

This will include a garaunteed money back for the review units including shipping.

It will also include final versions of the units once all kinks have been worked out if there is any but in return the older units have to be sent back in complete form.

If broken then we will have to deduct. As long as the main body is not broken your good as we will over look the smaller parts.
