Heya @JCharles did you get your j-hooks? In the link you posted, the first photo (above) and the other two pics appear to have different mouthpiece shapes? So I've been wondering since mid-December what you would receive and how you like the piece and the seller experience. It's killing me, man! LOL Cheers!

They arrived yesterday!! With three other packages - 2 China and 1 USA. There was a big backlog in packages entering Canada from what I was told. 40-45 days wait.

Anyways. With the hand blown glass each piece is a little different. The overall size, shape and feel is somewhat unique to each one.

They are a nice size, around 3-4mm thick glass (the one I'm using is a hair thicker than Arizer stem glass. ) The stem narrows from the 18mn joint and then ex0ands and flattens as a mouthpiece - as wide as my thumb at the knuckle.

I'll get pictures up tomorrow but I'm really happy with my purchase.

What strange serendipity in the universe! I'm maybe as excited as you they've arrived, how sad is that?!:ugh: I've got a terrible j-hook affliction but still... just pathetic to live vicariously through your purchases. :disgust:

Thanks for taking the time to reply and for pictures whenever you get to it. You're a good one, @JCharles and I always enjoy your thoughts and reviews of all the crap that we just have to have now that we're vaporists. Look forward to seeing your latest acquisitions, take care! :peace: Dig your IG account as well!

Thanks for all the pics @JCharles I do believe the seller should use your shots instead. I've developed a budding addiction to J-hooks, I have 3 so far and always keeping an eye out for a new one. I think every dedicated vaporist should have 1 or 2 (5-8?) j-hooks laying around, just in case. They are so versatile and yummy. But as I've said, I have a problem, YMMV.

Do you have a favorite j hook you'd recommend? I'm shopping for a first one to use with a Fury or Solo.

I recently acquired a few j-hooks from sunshinestore at dhgate.com and am pretty satisfied with their quality. At $3 USD per unit you can get a bunch for not much money. Shipping is a little slow though...

My first foray into j-hooks so I am far from an expert, but if you are looking to cut your teeth on j-hooks you can't go wrong with the sunshinestore ones!

Edited to add:
Got to say, I've never tried a session with my Solo II on a SSS j-hook before, so I tried a session after the above post. It seemed cumbersome and stressful on the glass to invert the Solo to use the j-hook right-side-up. I ended up using the j-hook upside down because stress has no place during my sessions. :chill: :smug: You might be looking for a much larger hook style to support the weight of the Fury and Solo.

I've mostly been using the SSS j-hooks for a DV OmniVong, dry, or with an ash catcher (SSS matrix perc). I gifted a few to my friend who has a Grasshopper who loves using the hooks too.

Not here to post a pic,but a q related to the thread's object. Has anyone ever dabbed attaching a nail to a j-hook without use of water? If yes, how was the experience? Planning to do it at the end of my week forced t-break.

Like using a honey-straw, but cooler vapor because of the longer j-hook.

I've given a few of those J hooks away to other vaporents, and everyone seems to enjoy them.

There is no stress on the glass with a solo or solo II attached.

I've used the setup with the j hook on top, holding the solo. And with the solo inverted.

No real preference one way or the other, but I do prefer a hook over a dry waterpipe.

Too each his own - the ones I ordered are serving me well.

I also been on the look-out for something at more.of a Sherlock length but no luck yet.

Will definitely give it a try.
I mainly use mine with the Haze v3 and the water pipe adaptor, it works wonders delivering smooth vapour and great flavour.

Ok guys. The question on everyone’s lips... what do you use for a stand for j-hooks?

Hello everyone~ I love flame/butane/torch vaporizer, just fuck combustion and start vaping from June 2017, everything is new to me:)
This is my first Lotus purchase during the Black Friday discount, the new herbal cap 244 with a WPA(because i already have the J hook and water piece and i believe i will only use it at home, i have vapcap for outdoor).

It does had some learning curve, and most of my torch can not fire consistently while vertically pointing down:hmm:
I can't get cloud at the beginning, and have little combusted when the plate showing some red spot, the (Torch control) X (inhale speed) have to test and feel and adjust. After watch the best of thread here and watch some video in youtube, 2 days later I try again and inhale very slowly while constantly heating the center of the plate with a better torch, got some nice cool good taste hits and even result.
I am surprised that while there is pretty hot of my left hand holding the J-hook, the vapor come in my mouth just so cool and tasty~ I can foresee better result will be archived after some more practice. I am very satisfied with it and gonna test it more :):science:

I really don't want to grow plastic spines on my j-hook. I tried that and it was a pita. I got tired of putting them on and off when I made reclaim milk. If I was any good at carving, I'd make one out of wood and we wouldn't be having this conversation. I tried and it came out lopsided and everything fell over.
I think I'll try coat hanger wire next. Maybe I'm a better blacksmith than a wood butcher. Doc

Look into pipe rests/stands, as in the ones made for tobacco pipes. If you have a long j-hook, then look for a stand made for a Churchwarden style pipe.

I keep trying to get someone to 3D print one. But no takers. I'd buy one. If we flood a 3D printer with requests maybe they will build us one. Doc
I believe @Ratchett did make one, or at least betas maybe. Back in '14, middle of page 6, this thread. I'm sure he could print one up for one of this forum's most esteemed members!

@Ramahs Thanks sir for the tip/search terms, I wouldn't have known what to call it! Gold star 4 you!

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the latest (last?) j-hook acquisition, a discontinued model from the Great White North. I've got 4 or 5 prodo j-hooks but each is different and therefore, justified GAS. This last one will sum up this category of "anhydrous* glass" for me. Any other j-hooks entering the Jockey abode will simply have to be custom pieces to be justified, that's all there is to that. It's just logic.

I've been meaning to post a picture of my j-hook familia here, it's nothing special but I do love this glass accessory most of all. Maybe this last one finally gets me off my ass to do it, this thread needs love.

*Doc's the first member I ever heard use this terminology. One of a dozen or more things he's taught me in the last year, reading through the threads. Anhydrous glass was a game-changer for me. Thanks Doc!

I have been looking for one of these on dhgate...but have not seen one yet. Anyone know of them listed in stock on dhgate?

I was told by the person whom has this it was labeled as a j hook. Thanks for any help.

Not quite the same but I know @Oregonglassblower does a similar J-Hook:

P. S. You can ask Mike for OGB to customise the length and curve angle of the mouthpiece.
