Just a heads up Vriptech fans - Mark will be a panelist on Bubblemans Hashchurch 2.0 this Sunday. Topic is Vaporization!
I watched a good bit of it. It was a proper exciting treat to actually SEE and HEAR Mark for real after having so much admiration and respect for him for a few years.

Man he is one chilled, happy, grounded and sorted dude!
Thanks a lot Splitz for the heads up. @ShadowVape rocks!

Emails possibly not getting through, it does happen. I would try contacting them via Instagram where Mark has an active account and you have a very good chance of making contact with him there to find out more information and whether your emails are getting through or not.

Whatever happens please keep us posted and good luck.

I dont own one of these systems just yet...but one thing that did impress me about his vape is that on his website he recommends other vapes if you decide not to go with his system. I am in the market for another vape and i am on the fence about this one and the SV4....what i am seeing vrip may be the better route to go..

@Abysmal Vapor

The newer versions have a ground glass tip that fits the bowl, so no need for the silicone.
For those that battle, they can add a silicone seal to the end of the VHW for a better seal.
It is not directly in the air path but more indirectly but with a bit of fiddling with position you could get it set up to seal with no silicone being exposed to inhaled air.
It has never affected the taste or experience for me.
I know @biohacker also had one and did not mind the silicone for a seal.

That's because I could never, ever get it to seal without the silicone! :D

Perhaps it was my higher temps (used the same notch as you Lazy for set point), or keeping it on too long, but the silicone kept melting to the glass and started to bother me. I also noticed the smell of solder from time to time which kinda put me off.

Those viton seals were dope, but kept sliding/moving..

Shame Mark gave up on FC! Even after tweeting him and Shadow ribbing him for it. I think he's in "retirement mode" now living it up on the mountain! What a life!

Hey there guys I was wondering if the vhw still is viable since it now is over 10 years old and alteast concept wise it's almost the same as the gs XLR
How is it performance wise, cleaning, durability, how much act is it to set both up. And what are the drawbacks of both units?

They have similarities due to the glas aspect. But still perform differently with their own unique vape signatures.
I used the GS for one day only. Never tried the VHW, but it is onnI VAS for and truly hope to acquire one day.

The VHW works by way of a "thermal curve", utilising the flow form physics of the "venturi effect", which is created by the design of the VCB (vaporization chamber bowl)- like a swirling vortex, which in the mind of the creatir- enables a more broad range of extraction at a lower temperature where both terpenes and higher temp cannabinoids can be extracted in the same inhalation.

The GS works at one set temperature. The VHW is more technique dependant and depending on water tool (notably Vriptech's own bubblers) can have some restriction, which Mark has always insisted is necessary and advantageous for vapor flow.
The GS is very wide open, just a tad less flowing than the FPSH and Herbo Ti.

I would guess that the VHW has the edge on flavour. I think the VHW and Elev8r are right at the top for flavour purity and expression. I hear the Minivap and Vapolution 3 are also excellent here.

Now the only thing that has really prevented me from buying this amazing vaporizer so far, and to answer another of your questions- fragility! The glass heater cover needs to be treated very carefully. There have been many casualties. It would cost me a lot to replace it from tge US to UK, like £140 plus all in.
I would always be worried about it breaking, and if it happened once and I replaced it I woukd be even more apprehensive about it breaking again, in which case Im sure I couldn't justify another replacement.
If this part was a fair bit cheaper (like £50 for example), and maybe a little more robust, I reckon I would have had me a wand years ago. Or if I was just richer!:D

This said, there are countless wands and heater covers out there still going strong after many years. This is a tool for serious vaporists who value their health and enjoy cannabis to the utmost. So don't let my own reservations stop you potentially finding love and utopia with this vaporizer, if you feel strongly drawn to it.

I really hope to own one one day. We have a super knowledgable member with the utmost experience on so many different vapes, these 2 included in @lazylathe .
He may be able to add some golden crumbs of insight to help you out here. Hiya Lazy btw, :wave:hoping you are alright and things are going smoothly enough for you at home. Always thinking of you bro anyway.
@HindelangGG I hope that helps. Please keep us informed which way your head tilts, we wanna hear all the goss bruv!

The vhw is still one of my top shelf vapes and gets used on special occasions. It’s probably my best vape for getting huge, low temp rips with its big bowl, and the taste is killer! And if you love the bong ritual it’s perfect!

Welp, I broke the glass cover today after only 4 months use. Ive warmed up to this vape a lot over the time Ive had it, despite its few quirks--the taste/purity of this vape is just unbeatable. Luckily theres still some 4/20 sales going on so I was able to snag a new glass cover for 20 dollars less. Still feels bad, man. :rip:

I love mine .. I must say I have I used it less lately just because of convenience and I fear of breaking so the vape sit in a little box just next to the desk.
It's the one I'll take out with some strain i really want to appreciate the flavour. I love to use it dry without water though I'll usually finish a bowl or use the bong when I top up some sift or melts .. !
Just a Jhook for the flavour to start with a fresh bowl :p

Exactly!
I don't see this happening with the Vrip though unfortunately...
We have been talking about upgrades since i joined this forum and none have evolved passed the discussion stage...
Im sure Mark is just too hqppy and healthy up on the mountain in cannabis and vape Utopia to drag himself back into the design studio, work shop and forums when he has it all already.

And who could blame him? With those lovely pink slippers, rocking chair, hot mug of cocoa and dare I say walking stick (yet)?
You get the picture. I would think the VHW is probably in its final iteration but you never know.

@Alexis Well ,even if the makers are unwilling ,probably someone could do a rebuild/mod it like Jcat and the SV3 or make DIY guide.
Anyway inserting at least temp sensor should be really easy ,a live feedback of the heater temp could be a step-up :)). I dont really know how functional would a PID be ,having in mind the large mass of the heater cover ,i dont think it would respond quickly enough even if the heating element maxes out.

Finally got around to firing up my new wand!
I have been waiting for the right time to use it as it is not a fast vape by any means.
The first week of a new job is done and what better way to unwind!

Had some lovely Violator Kush and then some of The Captain's Pin Kush, both heavy hitters with amazing favors and thick vapor production.
This vape is a beast and gets you medicated with ease!

Whenever I use it I am amazed that it is not more widely used!
I wonder if we will ever see any updates for this vape?

I believe the next iteration is still coming, it just takes a bit longer these days lol The new spherical bowl will have a matching wand cover with ground spherical joint, making a much higher surface area to contact and a better seal. Towards the end of a bowl you've got a nice amount of conduction building up in the reducer and then the bowl itself - more surface areas for convection but ultimately direct conduction towards the end which helps with a rapid finish. The new spherical wand cover should make ripping bowls even quicker.

Pure convection from the VHW is still the best imho, been my daily driver for probably 10+ years now as the quality of Vriptech vapor just can't be beat (except perhaps VapeXhale and similar 100% glass setups). The more recent VHW elements and circuitry seem higher quality too, they're lasting me a LOT longer than they used to - years now between replacing elements/boards vs. months for the early VHW models.

Just a dude
I wonder how a 4.0 might differ or even improve upon the Mach 3? I had to wonder how much traffic and business their website generates, just because I don’t see resellers or any mention of it in the vape world. But they’re clear that this vape is not for everyone and is for mindful (careful) connoisseurs, so definitely not chasing the mainstream crowds and I kinda like “enthusiast” vapes. At the bottom of the product page, there’s a brilliant tag line, it cracked me up but they also struck me as meaningful credo to live by:

“Don't be afraid of glass. Be afraid of shitty tasting vapor.“

Volute of Vapor
There was a spanish shop called Alchimia which was selling the Vrip until a year or so... it looks like they stopped to sell it and it's a shame cause it's not easy to find here in Europe!

I regret I had the bad idea to sell it but , like @Bvapst told, mine was taking dust in a safe place and I only used it on special occasions or sunday morning wake & bake! I was so afraid to break something and to have to deal with replacement parts only/mainly available only at Vrip.com...

But the vapor quality was outstanding! I remenber an old member spoken about the "drops" size in the vapor, he was comparing the vapor from a Volcano to a MiniVap and claimed the MiniVap's drops smaller and easily available for your lungs... following this idea I bet the Vrip delivers the best vapor quality! By all the vaporizers I tested I can claim that too, some are very close but it stays n°1 for me. Although the first terpy hits are not easy for the throat, a decent water cooling can help but it's not a vape you can use if you have lungs problems, sensible throat or you are just getting the flu cause you need large lungs availibility, solide throat to avoid to cough at the first hits (after 2 or 3 it's more acceptable) and long draws to build vapor since it's a 100% convection vape. I remenber I managed to create a smaller bowl with load closer of the heater which was a way to make things smoother and easier for the lungs but the Og bowl offer bigger load, bigger vapor and more terps too!
