I had that same issue happen to me today, after unit got hot, the flavor chamber rose up and pushed the lid open. When pushing down on flavor chamber to ensure it was seated properly it was very spongy feeling. I fashioned a scraper tool out of some old steel shim stock I had and scraped out a huge glob of tar that was not visible from under that rubber seal. No more problems, working great now. Maybe I ought to make more of these, it's just a long thin .020" thick strip of stainless steel 3 inches long by 1/16" wide bent into an "L" shape. The bottom of the "L" extends about 3/16". Stick it down through the hole, sligthly angle it and rotate. Watch the globs come out. There was so much that I had to work a bit to get it all back up through the hole LOL.
Then you take the chance of scratching up the ceramic and inhaling ceramic dust. Not something i really want to do when i cannot see everything in-between that rubber gasket . It was a horrible design choice & what may cause me to not keep this vape any longer when it eventually comes back from warranty as i just do not want to deal with inevitable issues. A shame bc i really like the vape and feel it hits great.

Yesterday when I put in the battery for my IQ it was loose. I could hear it rattle inside. Any one else have this problem? I have three batteries and all three do it. Vap comes on but Then shuts itself off.
I put a folded piece of aluminum foil on the negative end and it works fine.

If there's springs in the battery chamber try to adjust them so that the batteries fit properly.

Just got one of these. First new vape in many years. Was highly skeptical. But DAMN. Easily the best conduction vape I've ever used. And the speed of heat up is gonna change my life. Will be able to step outside, quickly medicate my pain, then step right back in. Will be able to hang with my family and friends more.

Not so much good...mine is a heavyweightpaper....cracked oven...parts degumped.....extremely hot....too much stained ceramic....impossible to 100%cleaning because spot between oven and flavor chamber ....flavor chamber rised up because silicon gasket under it gets inflated and the worst thing is that customer service doesn't care and it is going to make excuses. If you want a really good vape you have to choose storz and bickell vapes....if they get broken you are going to have a premium top notch customer service and a new unit....not an unhealthy vape that you must not use

I have only had a great experiences with the customer service. I had that same issue and ended up getting a replacement. For the space above the oven a dab tool works wonders.

Maybe you are in USA and they take care of you. I 'm at spain and didn't have any luck. My vape is obviously defective but they don't care...I sent pictures...mails...talk in chat....but the only thing I know is that I have a vape and can't use it....I'm not going to use an unit that have all this problems like they are normal problems because use(customer service talk) In the first month I have the first problem....and all the others in only 8 months and it isn't my only vape and not my daily driver. Allways we talk about Pax marketing but Davinci's is the same or worst..I'm still waiting one of their top paid reviewers like Vape Critic talk about that cleaning spot between flavor chamber and oven...

This unit has a 10yr warranty, why didn't you start a RMA? Davinci honors warranty issues for the IQ.

The DAVINCI IQ
My problem is not as severe but still drives me nuts. When I turn on my Olive IQ (same as IQ) it goes straight to the smart path and I'm looking for my precise temp, which is supposed to happen with the 6th click(5 to turn it on
then 1 for precise temp) Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I had a similar problem with my 2nd IQ (first one had problems with gasket and found a fleck of the gasket stuck to the flavor chamber). On my second unit, it would reset to factory default every time i changed the battery. Said this to Davinci and was told its normal even though the first unit worked fine in that respect.
Let the unit turn on properly before making the 6th click, when you see the temp displayed use the adjust buttons so it stays on temp, otherwise it will go back to smart path.

I am in the us and they did indeed take care of me. Sorry about your issues though. Maybe you might have better luck if you try and contact someone else at davinci? ie the person that posts on here and Reddit or maybe send a message explaining your issue to the us email address.

Maybe I ll take your advise and make it. Now in fact I suppose I m a little angry and desperate because the situation amd my Iq has so many issues than is like I don't trust in using it

@Richard11 You may need to try a couple of times to get it right.
The battery door can be stubborn, but after the battery is inside, force the door shut tightly and slide the latch in place.
After reading your post, I tried mine, and when it was back together it rattled around in there as you described.
It took me a second and third try... third time was a charm, I figured out the procedure.
.......................................................................................
Can you expand on your technique to get the battery/battery door seated.
After charging it, I made the mistake of opening battery door and now can't get the battery seated.
In fact, even without the battery, when the lid is "down", it appears to not be all the way down at the end by the battery.
What's the secret to get battery door properly seated?

Thanks
EDIT-- got it--like you had to push in and past the mark and then it seats
EDIT 2: I'm trying to "learn" the IQ to help a new vaper, so technique question:
-- I'm a microdoser so loaded in 4X my usual load, thinking as a conduction vape, it needed a reasonable pack. It has the "ball spacer". Load was very inconsistent with some almost charred and some not toasted. I hit it and hit it several times. What's the minimum load/ best load/ what grind to get better extraction? Putting the ABV in miniVAP yielded a couple big hits...???
Thanks

Hey for those of you who use the flavor chamber - can you describe the experience?

I like vaporizing other herbs (blue lotus, chamomile, thyme, peppermint, etc) and was wondering if the flavor chamber is worth

I'm guessing "flavor chamber" is the term chosen by marketing and not engineering portions of davinci. I tried with herb at the beginning, but all it did was make a mess and cause the draw to be prohibitive. Other, more aromatic herbs, I suspect are going to be the same way.

After 6 months of daily use I came to some conclusions:
  • The heat time is fast, though it needs some time to actually start vaporising ( start boiling the herb ).
  • The herb chamber gets really stained even if I cleaned it with qtips dipped in ISO after every session. However it doesn't affect the performance.
  • The unit indeed gets really hot, even to hold, after some time especially if you vape in higher temps ( 195+ celsius ).
  • Cleaning is the worst part, I cant compare it with other Vapes since this one is my first vape. But oh boy the space between flavor chamber and the herb chamber is almost impossible to reach even with qtips since there is a build up in the corners ( cant explain better ). So after a deep clean I can say the vape was 85-90% clean .
  • One selling point is the app integration in which you can set smart paths etc.. never worked for me and I doubt if it ever will because the application is really bad to say the least . The davinci rep said they are "working" in a new version , and that was 6 months ago. So yeah..
  • Battery life ain't anywhere near 2-3 hours of use. It's arround maybe 1,5 hours. You can use your vape while charging but it discharges faster than it charges so it will go off fast. Full charge takes arround 3 hours if not more.
  • Battery indicator is off, heating takes more battery and even if the unit is completely charged, on start up it buzzes telling you you have low battery. So it's a bit tricky managing the battery.
  • The USB cable doesn't work anymore ( minor issue ).
  • The herb is evenly vaporised ( color ).
  • The bluetooth is always on which imo is bad even if the battery drained from it is really low.
Sorry for any grammatical errors since English ain't my native language :)

For me the conlusion after 6 Monts is a bit worse:

For the first 3 Months i loved the IQ besides the extreme Battery drain not using the Unit. I needed one 18650 a Day thats way too mutch. But it was a very descrete good looking and good ripping Unit. Sure the cleaning is a bit of a mess mostly to get the reclaim out unter the rubber seal before the oven.

But with Month 4 the Problems begun:

1. The shining whatever it is in the filling chamber begunn to wear of, and i cleaned my IQ with alkoholpads only. It started with scratches and begunn to wear off more and more.

2. The LED got dimm at first one of them than 2 and so on.

3. The Ceramic Chamber got more and more brown even after cleaning it daily. It was not possible to get it 100% clean (but it didnt affect the device it self)

4. The Mouthpeace didnt hold anymore after the device got hot and i lost the cooling unit a few times but luckily found it every time. But this shouldnt happen at all.

5. The Device begunn to switch between smarthpaths and temperature on its own or just shutt off during a session.

So i had to send it back and wasnt convinced to get a new one not for that price and that many flaws in sutch a short time. It was a really good vape for the first cpl months and i touhgt i found my goto vape for the next few years to come but it wasnt what i tought.

I was told by CS that a new app is under development. I'm thinking of just trashing the present one because it is irresponsive to my demands and the constant "on"
bluetooth just drains too much battery. A friend's IQ turned on by itself ,went to 390* while the app stated it couldn't find the device & wasn't connected ???
My question being , has anyone trashed the app and had any performance problems without it ?

The only thing I did with the app was setting up two smartpaths and deleted the app after. No need to use the app but the Battery drain will stay its on the IQ side not from the app
