Cyclone bowl, packed ELB, 18m-18m, hydrotube, 225C. Starting Friday off right..

So you use Evo ELBs in your EQ? Would you mind detailing to me how you go about it, and what your reasons for doing so are? Just curious, and if I like the idea enough I may get some ELB's to try out for myself.

Im using the DDave 18mm-14mm, also at 225C but through my double perc Nice Glass water tool, I like it.

Ive been experimenting with using concentrates wrapped in cotton in the EQ, aswell as my solo2 and man does it ever work well! Ive been starting to run low on flower the last little while, but have been getting bits of concentrate here and there instead while the supply chain gets reorganized. I do usually prefer to use mostly flower and a little concentrate, but Id rather have some beautifully crafted shatters than nothing!

Going to enjoy a nice blend of Warlock+CBD, mixed with some Sour Candy shatter in the EQ

Almost there...
This thread popped up on the front page a few days ago and reminded me of my old EQ in the cupboard.
Brought it out today and cleaned everything up.

This thing still packs a serious punch!!
I am sitting at 188C, 0,06g elbow pack tamped down and through a WT.
One large, tasty cloud perfectly delivered!

I think it may stay on the desk for a while!
Sometimes i think about the super milky bags it makes...

Of course i am still using the OG @DDave EQ kit, which makes it go to 11!

Nice. I recently got an eq. It's been my first vape for years. This thing performs .

After a few issues with the DDave kit got rectified, I'm happily using the v2.5 adapter on it .

It was cool in retrospect. I got to experience the original cyclone bowl, v1 ddave , and finally the v2.5 . Not sure if I'll try the v3, I thought the glass screen was in the glass piece that goes into the vape . Glad I figured that out before I ordered!

I own an Extreme-Q and used to use it quite a bit. Then I got a Crafty and got used to using the S&B dosing capsules. I find these so convenient and neat, and the Crafty vapes so well that I don't use the Q often any more.
If I had a way to use a dosing capsule in the Q, I would probably use it more.
Does any one have any idea of an adapter that could fit a dosing capsule in the Q? I can just drop one in the the usual bowl but it doesn't really seal and doesn't work all that well because the heated air can go around the capsule.

Why not just elbow pack? Takes a second to load and dump and once you get your load size right, one hit snap hits are super medicating!

I use the OG DDave bowl with the EQ elbow and an EQ screen, good to go!

I rarely vape alone, and no matter how much I tamp down, it always ends up elbow packing itself . With 2 people, it's easier for me to "vape til I'm good" stir and pass, rinse repeat

Even with a group of people, I elbow load for each individual hit!
That way everyone always has a fresh, tasty hit!
No seconds for the poor guy/gal to the left at my place! LOL!

Hi, I'm hoping I could get some advice, please
I'm being offered a used unit at a price I believe to be pretty good for my circumstances. Wanted to know if you think i should buy it.

The seller claims it was purchased directly from Arizer, last year on April. He claims it is working flawlessly and is in perfect condition. He says he stopped using it because he got a Plenty. The max temp he used it at was 420 F, and he says the unit does not emit any smells if turned on with out any herbs. I have 10 days from purchase date to get my money back if I'm not satisfied. The photos he shows are recently taken and the unit appears to be in great condition (here is a photo of all he would give me https://imgur.com/a/lXntT8U). The unit is missing the stirring stick and has no dome screens; it only has one flat screen, has two Cyclone bowls, the aroma dish, instruction booklet, and two tubings (one used, one new, apparently silicone).

He is asking for 100 usd. I KNOW that's how much it costs brand new right now, but in my country import fees and all that make its price double in the best scenarios. Purchased directly from Arizer or any other internet authorized dealer, would end up costing me at least 230 usd. Purchasing it here in a vape store is around 200 usd but there is no authorize dealer here and fake products are very common here, so there is even a chance i would pay all that for a fake.

So, why do I want to buy it: 1. it's under half price of a new one (in my country), 2. seems to be in good pretty good shape, 3. I want to believe it's not a fake.
All this being said (sorry for the long post), do you think I should I buy it? if i bought it, what signs could i look for for it's authenticity?

From what i've read on the web the adapter brand could be a tell (this units adapter is branded INTERTECK, not QUILI as others i've seen), but what other things might reveal it's a fake?

Thanks in advance for reading my post and for any input.

@cosimo Welcome to FC, its a great community.

There should be a serial number on the bottom of the unit, if authenticity is a big issue for you, ask for the serial number, and then contact Arizer with it and ask if it is a EQ serial number for a unit that was purchased last April. Explain the situation and it should be fine, since the seller has offered you a period of time to refund the sale after purchase you have the option of waiting to have the unit in hand to do this yourself. Arizer should let you know whether or not the unit is authentic at the very least I would think, do be aware you will not be covered under the warranty.

I say go for it, it is a better price than you will otherwise get at a large margin you have said so why not. If it is in good shape as it seems to be you should be fine. Does it come with the remote? This isnt a essential piece, but I find it convenient personally. If it doesnt have one you can get one separately.

My EQ's power supply brand is "ENG" and the cord is "Linoya" I would think that the brand of these will change from time to time, and I assume you are using 220v? If so that would also account for things being different. My EQ is 100% authentic for what its worth, purchased from Arizer last year in September or October

Is this a good vaporizor?

The only thing putting me off is the PCB as ive read that the air flow runs right past all the electronics?

Hi Dave,

This is a good vaporizer, I bought one of these a few weeks ago and was thinking the same thing as you with the airpath.

In this video you can see inside the extreme q, from about 30 seconds in you can see the part where the airpath enters the device. This is quite big and in my opinion the electronics aren't close enough to the heat to cause an issue. That being said though I think they could have done something about that ribbon cable and maybe added a dust filter.

I have a mighty and a plenty but i use this daily because I can use as little as 0.05g of material to fill a balloon. I rarely use the whip because of this but when I do it has nice flavour. I can also use a lot of different adaptors and hook this up to a bong or a water pipe, then i can either toke or use the fan to push some vapour through.

It's great for beginners and versatile but there are downsides. It becomes a bit of an art finding the right temperatures and letting the glass heat up to get the best consistency but that's quite interesting for me. Other people may not have as much patience or enthusiasm.

Hope I helped.

Additional to the comment above check out the DDave mods too for this vaporizer. He seems like a good guy and is pretty prevelant in this thread. The mods seem to iron out some slight issues with this vape.

FORUM MODS - Sorry for double post but I was told 8 hours and then we can post again if no reply. If you wish to merge please do so

Sorry for the triple post on here but I am adhering to the rules of the forum - over 6 hours between posts. I just want to share some of my early experience with this machine.

The cyclone bowl actually seems to work quite nicely with a bubbler. I had a full cyclone last night hooked up to a 14mm grizzly glass through an elbow adapter. This was attached to the stock whip. It's the first time I've actually seen the herb twist through the cyclone bowl through inhalation. I got the temperature down to between 330 and 340 F but I did heat the cyclone bowl up for quite a while before hand. This has been my most pleasurable way of using the extreme Q so far.

I have used the elbow packing method and do enjoy it. I usually use this with the balloon, I can use as little as 0.05g and use 200 C/ 392 F It's not the biggest cloud and I would like to reduce this temperature in the long run. I consider this as micro dosing and over the last few weeks of using this vaporiser can sometimes make do with just one of these a day resulting in miniscule costs of herb compared to combustion. I use the elbow screen let my herb sit in fairly loose and place another flat screen on top - I have these domed so they catch the side and sort of make a lid, mainly to stop any herb falling out as I load a few of these up at a time and then just pop one in when I want to medicate

My last note is more of a gadget/boys toy for the vape. I purchased a Broadlink RM3 - this is a 'universal remote' - its actually a device that looks like a mini bluetooth speaker. Powered by USB and connects to WiFi. I then had to program the buttons of the Extreme Q remote in to this via an app on my android smartphone (works with ios too) Now I leave my remote in my drawer and control the extreme q through the phone via WiFi - you could potentially control your vape from anywhere in the world. It's not perfect, there is a little bit of lag and a few missed button presses at times but I'm situated in my garage a good few meters away from my main router.

All in all a good vaporizer for the price, coupled with the fact that I can make me bud last a hell of a lot longer if I really want or need. There is a bit of a learning curve and I think getting the balance right between temperature and load makes a big difference.

I also have a Plenty and Mighty by S&B this might contradict other peoples opinion or use but the extreme Q is my daily driver. The Plenty seems to need feeding quite a bit. It does provide good lift off but without a proper stand I can't leave it out on my worktop and forget about it or pretend it's an aromatherapy diffuser. I'm super cautious about having people over and setting it down somewhere where it will likely get stood on or burn someone. With the Q it just sits there and takes whatever I throw at it. I mainly use the S&B vapes as a treat or use the mighty when I just want to put a film on and zone out. All 3 of these seem to have their benefits and also downsides.

Really glad these products are on the market and I was able to kick combustion. I hope I can help anyone considering either of these vaporizers.

Whats really intriguing to me are the many different variables. With my pax 2, once learned that once needs a grind as fine as possible, packed as firm as possible as long as you clean it regularely the air flow iwll still be fine and this will result in the best vapour. U can learn about the screen trick but thats it.

But when I got this EQ 2 months ago, I started experimenting and im still not quite sure whats my routine. Elbow Pack vs Cyclone is a weird one. I feel like the cyclone bowl is a lot better for baloons. They fill a lot faster and u can get multiple. With elbow, its a lot slower to fill. Even with a full elbow pack I never get more than 1 satisfying baloon, you could get 2 if u wanted to...

Also with elbow packing it seems almost like a bong hit. Few very thick and bit harsh hits. Whats weird to me is after that vapour production goes down a lot, but herb doesnt seem completly vaped. This avb is a lot greener than the one from my Pax, Mflb, or even a long session in the cyclone bowl. Stiring helps a bit.

Cyclone Bowl I would like to give more chances, but I feel it doesnt work well with low amounts of herb. Also I read if you see it flying around in the bwol (hence the name) thats when u are efficently vaping it. Thats the optimal thing. I rarely see it flying around, it happenes sometimes only no matter what I try.

Also im not quite sure whats the optimal grind for bot hcyclone and elbow quite yet. Seems like cylone more medium, elbow more fine. Whats ur go to?

Pre heating, and temperatures are the other factors...

So, whats your go to? If I was to spend a vape out with you, how would we go about packing this EQ?

Greetings from Austria

Sonti,

That's very true. I think I'm still trying to find the best method for me.

If you were coming over for a session. I'd fill a cyclone bowl. I have only experienced the herb cyclone in the chamber when I use the whip attached to a bubbler. This gives me some amazing rips. Lasts for quite a while too.

If I was on my own I would elbow pack with a shorter 18mm - 18mm adapter * ala DDave* and do myself a single bag at around 200c/393f. Usually enough to take the edge off reality for me lately (3 months combustion free)
These bags are slightly transparent. I can get some nice thicker bags if I fill more in or use the cyclone bowl. I'm liking flavour at the moment so have been lowering temperatures. I'm sure I got an awesome bag at around 350f (elbow pack) but had a few failed attempts at reproducing this and haven't tried again since.

These inconsistencies are leading me to wonder if I should just splash out for a volcano digit. My research is showing me that there's not that much difference though. I think the low maintenance of the volcano appeals to me considering how dirty the glass has got on my q with a few weeks use. It's awkward too. Lots of bendy pieces of glass with condensed vapour that I really want to just scrape off the glass and use as honey.

@sonti and @Some-new-user I highly recommend you guys check out the @DDave kits https://www.ddavemods.com/store/c2/Arizer_EQ_&_VTower_Vaporizer_Mods.html I recommend you get the full kit, but if you are just looking to microdose, the 14mm v2.5 is adequate, likewise if you are just into big bowls I recommend the 18mm v2.5. If you are really into the flavour side of things then I recommend the V3 pieces, I havent got a lot of experience with them yet but they are great for coarse ground bud, and flavourful extraction.

The mod kits take the EQ and turn it into a absolute beast! The EQ is held back by the cyclone bowl imo, and the DDave mod kits take the EQ to being a hard hitting, bong milking machine!

Thanks @dynospec I'm actually waiting till my wage lands to order some official @DDave merch. I have tried to imitate with the shorter 18-18 but the whole kit does interest me with the wands and smaller openings.
I think I'm flavour chasing at the moment - really enjoying the EQ with bubbler and whip but it does seem to take away flavour with the water-however over on the mighty thread one user mentioned warm water. I'm yet to try this but does make sense as less active components are going to be flash cooled by the water temperature. I wonder if it makes a difference with flavinoids... More experiments!

So.... I ended up pulling the trigger on a volcano digit. I may regret this. It isn't here yet - I got an awesome deal on it from a trusted seller, with my loyalty points and a sale/discount I ended up paying less than a classic. I know I've bought a load of vapes in the last few months and I seem to be searching for this 'holy grail'. I have enjoyed microdosing and I will probably still keep my Q as a regular vape but with the inconsistencies and a few other things for me I'm thinking the volcano will be a better overall experience. I'm really interested to see how these compare against each other.

@DDave I'm sorry I haven't become an official customer of yours. Your 20% coupon was very tempting and your kits have good reviews but I would have been looking at a full kit plus maybe a couple of V3 adaptors after already buying a few accessories and me having the remainder of cash from selling some other equipment (none vape related) I was just weighing up spending nearly £100 with shipping to 'maybe' make something work as good as something that has a reputation for doing the job properly.

I do love the Eq but there are a few downsides for me - a lot of upsides but this adventure has taught me a few things in what I want from a vaporizer. I originally never thought I would use a desktop vape. I still smoked then - I had tried cheapo ones and been disappointed and didn't quit smoking. When I decided to stop I thought get the best I can - spent days researching went back and forth between wanting a few models, Initially the davinci IQ and a few others (including the solo) then the crafty/mighty came in to play. Decided on the mighty. After a few weeks of use I knew I wasn't combusting again and this lead me down to the path of the plenty - something I can plug in, has no batteries to deteriorate and well built. I enjoyed this but even with the chamber reducer it swallows herb. I also think this isn't the best for sitting around with friends who don't vape - having to explain all the techniques and then it just runs out of vapour/herb when its being passed around.

With the q and the balloon I was very impressed, I like the balloon as you can hand it to someone one and then that's their share. It's just that I feel like I'm missing out on something now. I feel like the downsides of this machine outweigh the purchase of the volcano in the long term. I may receive my volcano and think 'what a pillock' but what's done is done now.

Also one big downside for me was peering through 2 screens and noticing herb had got through to the ceramic heater. I decided to clean this and took the Q apart. The ceramic heater was black at the tip- an obvious sign of combustion in my mind, which isn't why I'm paying for a vapourizer. People may get around this by elbow packing but this is the one that sealed the deal for me.

So there it is. There's my progress report up until now on these machines. A lot of trial and error. My first ever experience with a vapourizer was a volcano, maybe I should have just gone the whole hog in the first place but you live and learn.

I still do use all of my other machines so the Q is definitely still going to get some love but I'm probably just going to use it with an elbow pack and my method of DIY domed screen on top of that to make my own sort of capsule pod.

I'll check back in a few days and you can all laugh at me having spent yet more money on something I really shouldn't have.

Happy vaping people!

Herb gardener...
I used my eq + @dddave kits everyday for a over a year when i first quit smoking..
I will always have much love for arizer...
The air does flow over the pcb, but arizer uses safe materials in the construction...
And the pcb does not get hot...

I still enjoy using the eq every now and then..
I love the latest ddave kit with the all glass bowl... seems to extract tastes no other vape can...

But mainly my eq is used for filling bags with rosin chips now... i can still make a pillow of a bag...

Or for drying my water pieces after washing..
Or decarbing or purging...

The eq is a great tool for many vaping purposes, and everyone should own one...
