My older plenty is over 7 years old with a serial nr below 200, still works like a new one :)

I'm not sure how to explain... The thing on the bowl, that when the bowl is on the unit it stays straight down when it's new. Now it went slowly to 7 o'clock. I hope I explained well enough. Yours, 7 years old, I suspect It got to around 9 o'clock?
Here's the "thing" that broke in mine, and the 3rd picture is my 7 o'clock.

I checked my invoice and I'm a little passed 3 years old :D
I sent a email to S&B and I'm waiting a replay. Actually is an easy fix, as if they send my half the "shell" I can change it myself. But what about the temperature sensor?

Ah, now i see the black housing tabs broke, that is very uncommon - guess u screwed the housing on while it was not plain on the unit and only gripped in one of the 3 tabs...
- @ChooChooCharlie already described it better than i can :D

S&B uses a friction held twist lock design with three bayonet style locking channels.
If you do not align the two parts flush when twisting, it can catch just one of the three channels and feel like it is secure. But, as you found, a bump will separate it.

Ever since I made this twisting error (a couple times) I trained myself to "feel" when the three tabs almost click down into the channels evenly, then twist to lock down. Try playing with an empty chamber and you should be able to reproduce this error.
Hope this helps.

Can't see the last pics, but the temp sensor works without electricity and goes straight down into the heater where the display is, afaik it doesn't go into the airpath. The temp problem probably results of the leaky seal with the broken tab? U could test that by temporary sealing the chamber-housing connection with some duck tape, but that makes a mess and is probably not too healthy bc some tape glue can evaporate...
But let's see what S&B responds, i bet they'll do u right ;)

My Plenty had to take a vacation to California today too. Stopped heating up, you could turn it on, power light would come on, set the thermostat (usually to 6 for me), press the handle switch, and nothing. No heater indicator light and no more heat. The local vendor I bought it from contacted Storz and Bickel and had an RMA in a few hours. It left Texas today...I'm sad. I LOVE this vaporizer, thankfully I have a DaVinci IQ that performs like a champ to keep me going in the meantime.

S&B sent a email today that my unit no longer has warranty, but I can send it back, if I want to, and pay 150 euro (around $180) for a new Plenty. Given the fact that my budget is gone to the Flowerpot, and the fact that I can still use my Plenty (sort'of) , I'll wait for a wile until I make this step.

Today the light went crazy as it was heating, and when almost done, it made short circuit sound, but it still worked. I hope it stays in working order for at least another week...

Just received my new Plenty and plan on taking it for a test drive on Monday. Seems only right to use it with a full bowl during it's maiden voyage. After I (eventually) work through that whole bowl (will remove chamber in between sessions)....I'll begin trying lesser amounts with the pad......and eventually the reducer....which I also received. Fortunately I have a substantial supply so conservation is not my primary concern... quality and potency of vapor along with minimal draw resistance are the most important considerations. After much research I believe The Plenty will meet MY needs.

Spent the last few days reading all the posts in this thread and want to give a sincere THANK YOU to all those that posted so many (hopefully) great suggestions. Can't wait to try them and post my observations/experiences. :myday:

Question for anyone: Are any of you using PBW instead of alcohol to clean their whips/chambers? I also have 99% alcohol but it would IMHO be easier to just soak overnight in PBW and rinse.

Once every 100 grams or so, I do a sonic clean to all the parts from the bowl up, but first I milk my whip with a PID/coil combo. I insert the whip into the coil, a silicon storage thingy below the bottom hole of the whip, and after the reclaim stops dripping, sonic wash, rinse and repeat. Not as much reclaim as with the ISO I imagine, but a lot cheaper and a lot less hassle.

I never used the pad. I always stuff mine full, take as many hits as I want, but covered the draw hole with my cheek between draws. If you don't, the gradual temperature of the whip develops a suction force (like a chimney does), and you see vapor starts to rise. It's not the vapor that it's still in the whip, it actually drawing from the bowl and vaping it self (IMO), just for a few seconds, but that is lost vapor.
After the last draw, I disconnect the bowl from the unit and than take one last cold draw to cool off the bowl until my next session. Why bother filling the bowl as often as this? It's not hard to fill the bowl, but it's not very easy either. You can fill the bowl however you like, but I noticed I get weird sessions if I don't take my time to fill the bowl as even as possible, specially near the rim of the bowl.

PBW works best with glass.
The coil responds very well to cleaning with 91% Iso.
I believe 99% Iso will work even better, and parts will dry faster also.

I insert my coil into a glass jar filled with 99.9 iso (the same as all my vape parts get), this jar sits in a pan of water I have brought to the boil and removed to a safe place. Then I rinse with hot water and dish soap. Everything comes out looking new except my silicone hopper mouthpiece and my s&b dosing capsules. Iso is reclaimed into oil which I give to my friends uncle who has cancer - not easy to get oil round here and expensive - $100 gram.

I remove the silicone tips, and put my thumb on one end, and fill it halfway with 91% Iso, and shake vigorously.. I pour out the gold and repeat process.
I rinse with clean Iso, then fill the tube with a squirt of dish soap, then very hot water... and shake vigorously.... rinse well with hot running water, then I hold the coil end cupped in my hand, and hold it at the hose of a shopvac for a few seconds.
I pour the collected ISO on a flat dish and place it in cupboard for a few days... by the time I look, I can scrape the goo up with a razor blade, and share it or vape it.

Thanks everyone for the cleaning tips/advice! I'm not planning on saving the ISO but I will try the alcohol methods.

Thank you. I agree that it works well with glass, but I've also had good success soaking the screens and stainless steel tip of my Ed's TNT Solo wood stem. Obviously both are metal.
Is that silicone tubing in the coil? I think that home beer brewers are using PBW to soak/clean their silicone lines with some success. Of course that doesn't mean that 91%+ alcohol won't work better.....just that PBW might be easier for lazy, stoned Old Tokers. Until we hear from one of those "lazy, stoned Old Tokers".....I volunteer to test both methods.

Tried out my new Plenty today and I'm very satisfied. It is what I thought it would be. A powerful heater attached to a large "bowl" with an almost effortless draw that produces excellent cool vapor.....at least with a full herb chamber and a slow draw.

IMHO - my Solo II, or perhaps the Plenty with reducer will very likely conserve more product....but for when I want big hits....the Plenty will definitely get the job done.

Biggest surprise during my session was how easy it was to draw large hits through the huge chamber. It was so effortless that I originally didn't think it was working, or that I hadn't attached the chamber correctly. However, after the first two "priming" hits....huge lung busting hits. Yes....that first hit kicked my ass. After I finished coughing....I showed the proper respect for her....and took more reasonable draws.

Still a lot of exploration/experimentation ahead.....but I am happy with my purchase.

Thanks again everyone for all the suggestions!

Hello friends,
Celebrating my FC anniversary with a couple capfulls in the first Vape this forum helped me decide to purchase.
In my naivety, I thought...Just buy one really good one, and I'll be all set. :lmao:
What a difference a year makes.

Happy anniversary SloJimFizz. I'm only a few days into being registered on here but have been reading things for a while. Glad you are enjoying the vaping lifestyle.

I bought a Mighty a few weeks ago (new model) and it has totally changed my habits. I've cut down on my usage to about 1/8 of my normal dosage but I also feel this has been helped by my nicotine/tobacco addiction. I'm a recreational user not medicinal and I'm certainly feeling some benefits of not smoking anymore - I never just smoked cigarettes.

I have heard a lot about the Mighty vape failing, these forums (Mighty thread) helped me choose my first big boy vape and I'm really happy with it. I think I'm microdosing - lining the bottom of a capsule and then topping with a liquid pad. I can even go for a few days without feeling an urge to vape now where the first thing I would do when getting in from work would be to roll.

I'm thinking about getting a plenty for the inevitable day that the mighty packs in. I don't necessarily need batteries. Just something that works and works good and it seems like this is the way to go. I've read a huge portion of this thread and used the search function and am just wanting peoples opinion on this - is it a good investment? I'm allowing myself the budget of the cost of a mighty. My original rationalisation was to buy an extra while I have disposable cash but now that just doesn't make sense - storing batteries for them to just deteriorate. Then there was a thought of getting a crafty or Davinci Iq but the thought of spending that for it to break within a year or be sub par (Davinci) makes me feel like the plenty would be a better investment - the volcano seems like too much of an outlay for me and the balloons seem like too much mess/noise inconvenience.

Is the Plenty a desktop Mighty albeit a little cooler with a bigger chamber and analogue control rather than digital?

hehe, sounds like the usual learning curve - 3 draws :D

in short: yes, u pretty much summed it up + the draw resistance is even less and the coil needs less frequent cleaning than the mighty cooling unit. Definitive one of the more price stable vapes, even used and no matter how old...
But if it's only for 'backup' u are probably already infected with vaporizer acquiring syndrome ;) - maybe a butane vape like Vapman/Sticky Brick Jr/ Vapcap suits also....

Thank you used2use - I'm steering away from butane. I just don't trust myself with them at the moment but as you rightly hilighed I definitely have a touch of VAS. Maybe something to look in to in the future. I think I've talked myself in to it and if the resistance is less than the mighty I think I'll need to be careful not to wipe myself out in one hit as oldtoker said in your quote above.

These forums have changed my life and I'm so greatful for all the advice and knowledge contained within them. Thank you all.

Welcome to the forum....i have stated that my favorite portable is the mighty (i have a huge collection of portables). for desktop, i would definitely recommend the flowerpot

My Plenty is back from vacation in California and I couldn't be happier! It took exactly 2 weeks but was a very simple, absolutely zero cost transaction. Looks like they just gave me a new one, either way, it works great, packed up a reduced chamber full and after 3 hits, I was back to being in love! First hit was good, second was better, third was insane...from that point on it was just nice thick vapor until it was done. Very nice.

If yours is a brand new device you should be able to override the dead mans switch with a rubber band / cable tie (but you never heard that from me as I would never recommend overriding a safety feature ). I usually wrap a rubber band around my handle to keep it cycling, that dead man switch is the only thing I don`t like about the Plenty.

I don't know why you'd want to do that, as long as it's in my hand, the switch is depressed, if it's not in my hand, it doesn't need to have the heater on. I like the idea of having that switch, it does it's job well but yeah, it's nice to have my Plenty back. The monster hits I having been missing. The Plenty with the reducer chamber is about as perfect for me as it gets. Pack the reduced chamber, take 4 hits, pull off the chamber/coil and let things cool. In a few hours, do it again. Then repack. Very economical way to consume without overdoing it.

Wow. I just received my plenty, I ordered this partly because of VAS and partly as a backup and to take the strain off my month old mighty.

I let it heat up and then pulled the trigger 3/4 times. I also took the filling chamber and top off and blew down this (away from the main unit) there was a sort of plastic/solder like smell. After the last burn/blow I couldn't notice the smell so let it cool a little and 1/2 filled the chamber using the liquid pad to top and secure the load.

6 was my chosen setting. I got smooth cool clouds. The air resistance is almost 0 with this thing. Took about 5 pulls, removed the chamber from the main unit and gave it a few more pulls to cool the load down.

I get regular headaches (with no diagnosis) this two day one has started to subside.

Absolutely loving both of these products there are a few things I would mark them down on but these are very minor. These are obviously well designed.

Thanks again to everyone on these forums. There are other manufacturers out there but for now I think I'm done purchasing. I may be biased but I'm an end user, no endorsement. Just trying to help other's make an informed decision.

I'll probably check back in a month with a progress report on both. I'll even try to gather some stats and post them across both threads. I know these are both massive threads so it would be good to get summaries.

I had the Mighty and later got the Plenty and I personally don't think they are similar beyond a few that are obvious. The Mighty works pretty perfectly with or WO capsules at all temps 365+ that I use, and there is zero learning curve. I haven't had the Plenty as long but there seem to be more nuances to using it. I didn't get the grab it rip it and get big hits experience. But I've read about a lot of people figuring it out and it being their favorite vape. I'm still learning but I like it .
