Puffco Peak

Seems to always be atomizer issues in my circle of friends that have a Peak. Took me two weeks to get a replacement in the mail, others still waiting for support to get around to responding. I like the peak for what it is (big ass vape pen with torchable bucket and water filtration) but it will never replace my glass and quartz.

@aj0125

It’s entirely replaced my glass and quartz, but I can see why you may prefer glass and quartz over the Peak if convenience and a loud torch arent an issue. I really just want some new glass for it, thats my biggest drawback on the Peak right now. I had an atomizer issue, but I was able to fix it myself with ease. Mind you, I am horrible with atomizers usually and can’t even build on an RDA well. I had a battery issue as well, which was really just user error. I completely drained the thing testing it out and let it charge overnight and it was fine the next day. Maybe I have been lucky, or maybe the others have been unlucky. The Hyer enail seems like the only thing right now that may beat the Peak for everyday use, but it’ll be awhile before I can afford to get one of those too.

This is what I have wondered and feared all along. Many people online (and the marketing) are saying that I can drop my home rig. I think those people don’t dab nearly as much as they think they do compared to heavyweights...

I am no scientist but I don't think there is enough surface area there to get a nice big, smooth low temp dab. I remember the review referenced earlier in the thread where I thought the reviewer was saying it is difficult, in general, to get quality vapor, but now I think he actually might have been referring to the Peak. When I watch a lot of the videos online with folks claiming their love for the Peak, it seems the light is always on white (highest setting). If I did three or four dabs on red or white setting, my throat would be wrecked the next day for sure. I like to use the 1st setting and drop my dab in around 10 seconds after it says the temp is ready. In my experience, the Peak is really effective for smaller loads using it in this manner but still not the best vapor quality compared to a larger quartz banger.

I am going to try the eternal quartz buckets later this week to see if it makes a difference, but I think it will still be mostly smaller dabs for me when using this device.

Peak has arrived and is charging.
Once charged I will do my first taste with water, but plan on moving on to dry hits tonight also.
I will agree that the "carb cap" is a pain in the butt, before I have even started using my unit!
Between opening the box, and plugging it in to charge, I must have dropped that little sucker a dozen times ... but no breaks in it.
I am ready.... just waiting on a charge!

Iv had my peak a couple weeks now and have had zero issues.
I never use on in its white setting and rarely sesh mode it...I haven’t and don’t intend on taking it out and about and picked it up to compliment my rig set-up...not replace it for home use.
I try every way possible not to put any un due strain on the electronics out of fear of something malfunctioning.
In my opinion if it were to be used in a heavy daily fashion on its own,..it would fail sooner than later...but I kinda knew that going in...it’s inevitable.
But as a compliment to my rig it’s very,..very valuable to me...it’s amazing for a “bump” or for direct effect with minimal waiting time...it’s portability is awesome,..even if it is just around my house....and the effects are scary good.
At first I was so taken aback by it that I got anxiety over all the dough I drop on glass only for it to be obsolete....but looking at it now I know it will never replace the ritual or satisfaction of traditional dabbing...but in a pinch or pressed for time or for portable reasons I think it’s an amazing,..revolutionary device and a great effort compared to what’s available at the moment.
It almost also seems a little rushed,..there are no replacement parts available right now. If something goes wrong they’re just sending out the parts to customers...seems if they had a product line on initial release they could be making a killing.
These are just my findings....thanks

God I hope I have the same luck as you, finally ordered mine today and haven’t taken a look on this thread since last week and now it seems like everyone is changing their mind. We do need some glass for this, shitman make some but fuck that Chinese bullshit. Also picked up a eternal bucket, hope that helps out with performance.

No dice.
Charging for 4 hours, and the unit is still blinking white... but over the last 30 minutes it has developed a red flash once every dozen blinks or so.
I am hoping that Puffco will honor and allow me to use my warranty, as I did not make the purchase, it was bought by a friend and then sent to me (with receipt etc.)

They will honor it and get back to you pretty quick in my experience. You should be able to just leave it charging overnight and it’ll start working, as that’s exactly what mine did when it stopped working.

Yeah Fuck hitman, I can’t wait for his designs to become available on DHgate lol. I love this device a lot and I can’t wait to get new accessories for it lol.
Thanks. Hunipots in route :) Incase the pots get here before the peak—-how much am I going to want to sand the hp down?
You’re going to want to make them about 14mm tall. They are a little smaller in diameter so some silicone around it helps hold it in place. I personally used some old micro gpen mouthpieces that I cut up.

Did you make sure the atomizer is screwed in all the way? I know you are pretty technical with this battery operated stuff but had to ask.. I can't remember what the unit does when it is not seated correctly.

What's the story with Hitman? I'm not really that into glass.

He sold China production glass at $1,000+ dollars saying it was handmade until he got caught. He also recently was an asshole on Instagram to a glass blower @dabberjones because he made a better Peak Attachment. Idk if there’s anything else besides those two things, but I don’t support liars or bullies. I have no problem with production pieces from China, in fact I’m hoping China hops on the peak Attachment game.

I let it stay on charger the rest of the night.
Light was off when I woke, but when unit is turned on, then set to start heating, it cycles through all colors then shuts off immediately.
I have reached out to Puffco, as has the friend that made a gift of this brand new tool.
Hopefully I will get a response today.

I did leave my unit to charge overnight, and the charging "blink" finally stopped.
I powered the unit up, and chose my level....
then I touch twice to start heating cycle.... it blinked a few times, then it cycled through the colors and shut down.
The atomizer is in there correctly, but of course I have no way if it works or not.
No response from Puffco yet.
So far it is an attractive $379 paperweight and I am still using other devices that do function from other makers.

Looking carefully at the bottom, it says "Designed in Brooklyn-Assembled in PRC"
PRC is Peoples Republic of China.
That surprised me, because the website goes far out of their way to avoid any mention of China, and they keep referring to "Brooklyn, N.Y." as though the unit was made there.
I will attempt to exercise patience as I wait to hear from company.

So your atomizer just needs to be adjusted it seems. It’s pretty simple to fix, you can just take it apart and rebuild it and it’ll work. It takes like two minutes max.

I've been following the thread and I've been wondering about something. I saw how you rebuild the atomizer. My question is what exactly among the three or so pieces is consumable? It doesn't have a normal 510 wrapped coil, what does it have?

So the coil is just a plate with two leads coming out of it that you have to set up correctly. The whole atomizer is the consumable part, but I think with how thick the leads are it’ll be replaced once or twice a year at max.

I got a Peak. I feel it works great. Ive only used the ceramic so far which I didnt think I would like so much but was pleasenty surprised. Used it with a bunch of people, we forgot butane but no one really cared. Although we did have to leave the unit plugged in/charging after a while in between dabs. (3+ hour sesh) Have not tried quartz yet but I made a boro bucket today.(hoping to get some quartz tubing asap) Gonna really test it out this weekend.

I have only used the peak on green setting and it works really well. I put the dab in there before even pressing the button to start it. Afterwards Im not really wiping up any more oil than I would from a low temp dab out of my quartz nail and rig or enail. I also see people hating the carb cap. I dont mind it. It fits and stays seated well. It can definitely be improved though

Also just wanted to mention anyone sanding down quartz inserts or whatever to make them fit, make sure youre wearing a mask and have good ventilation. You dont want those particles in your lungs

Aren't the hunibadger cups boro glass or quartz? Be good to see Puff Co come out with so add-ons in this field, early days i know for all concerned but it hasn't taken long for people to mod and improve on the peak.

Definitely had proper ventilation and setup, thanks for looking out though!

I’m confident they are quartz since I can torch em and drop em in water after sanding them down, which I’m fairly sure boro would not be able to withstand.

I do have exciting news.. but I have to say that I would have no idea in the world how to take an atomizer apart, nor tools of that sort, besides my issues with dexterity.
I did none the less, unscrew the atomizer and looked at it.
It was one solid entity to me, but I knew someone somewhere had a tool for that.. (but again there would be putting it together)
I screwed it in, and made sure it was screwed in firmly.
I tried, and it worked!
I will have to contact customer support, and close my ticket.
So, it delivered as promised.
Thank you for steering me in the right direction.
The hits are remarkably dense, and smooth.
It is a powerful little tool, and I am impressed.
I was feeling doubt, but a little adjustment...
thanks for the help!

How is it dry? Do you think someone could make an even smaller dry glass piece for it?

Truly not very smart at $400 to only have 1 Atty???
Had a bad atty in my Xvape Vista, good thing they included
an extra or I would have bummed out, but 2nd atty fired
up & I knew vape was great just bad atty threading.
(they sent me a free new one, still using a year later.

$400 to test their product, WOW guys I sure feel
poor & gratefully patient, honestly good luck.
