i've a long lurning curve but Thanks to @SloJimFizz after his post i tried Ni even Ti TC setting
My sweetspot is a TCR value on 0.00670 with my 13 mm glass roasting tube temp at 200° -240 °c range , 28-32w but 30 w seems the best to me i stir 2 time to kill the load.
Still testing with 18mm stem.
It's already my dailydriver so easy to take a toke

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
Once i found my equilibrium between watt and draw speed using IH is as easy as using a lighter to light up a pipe, but without combustion :)

I drop it a couple of times already but it seems solid as a rock

Only 1 combustion event to report, my bad. I use it at home and I never turn off my smoant charon. I was holding it in my pocket to move it from a room to another and wattage went up to 49,5!! I didnt noticed and used as if it was @my regulars 27,5: yellow smoke and shit taste

Cleaned my stem and no smoke/charring smell on the unit itself were found !!!

This vape is a strong VAS killer, only bad side is I cannot use native (short direct stem) as I found vapor too harsh this way like I cannot do with any convection vape I own (i like long steady pull draws and with convection they are too harsh)

So to sum up all the reviews so far: it's a portable but nobody is able to use it how it's intended to out of the box with the stock short stem because vapor is too harsh?

When I read people saying they use a portable vape only through water, to me it's not a portable anymore...

I do use it with the stock stem but yes it's not comfortable for my throat (nor my teeth if I happen to direct the air beam at them by mistake) It's worse than my Milaana clearly, and comparable to my X-Max V2 Pro which is the worst of all my collection, with its ridiculous 1cm vapor path.

I guess it's better with a longer stem but since I use it exclusively outside my home, stealth is more important and it's already drawing too much attention as is, and it's also too tall looking on a regular mod (since apart from the crappy Witcher, there's no SBS mod fitting it) People ask me regularly why I have a wooden e-cig and what's the purpose (best case) or if it's a shilum of some kind (worst case, meaning I'm uncovered)

@KeroZen

This is what I've been saying about the idea of wooden 510 vapes since the beginning. They're nice in that they work with box mods but they're simply not portable or stealthy. I think of it really as more of a "wireless desktop" than a portable, which is why I pretty much exclusively use the wired base rather than the box mod. True for the IH, Splinter, or anything else that you slap on a box mod and then stick a stem out of. It just isn't a convenient portable form factor. Maybe good for camping or other more private places, but certainly not for being out in public.

But I'm scratching my head at the idea that the vapor is "too hot" compared to the Mi or any other similar vape. It's adjustable. If you can't handle the vapor temp, turn the temp down. I almost exclusively use the shortest stem I've seen from Alan and I have no trouble. I prefer the shorter stem for better feedback.

To put my point in perspective I would like to add that I am sensitive guy, so no convection vape suits me dry and direct, not even long thick glass stems, apollo without cooling unit being the hotter, Heat island with stainless tip adds some conduction/radiation to the mix, preheating the bowl, hence needing to pull less hot air to vaporize, still prefer through water or dry honey straw. Same IH

Having said so, i enjoy IH a lot, it is delivering like a log after steroid cure, as there is no need to let heater recover after a huge hit, and bowl is bigger too

@KeroZen any vape needing stirring equal 0 in stealth IMO

IMHO, excess hot air sucks, but the way it sneaks past the herb is when the pack / tamp is the slightest bit uneven. The evenness of the tamp will smooth things out by filtering the heat in the herb, not allowing little hot air *leaks* that means a harsh hit.

Does that Bamboo iH still need a good home ....

Indeed , the IH cartridge and mod, the Splinter, the tubo, the Project are not very stealthy but they are portable. It's the reason (part of) that I chose the Lil' Bud over waiting my turn for the iHeat to fill my portable vape need.

I prefer a stealthy unit and a all in one design . Otherwise they both had solid wood air path and design coil. LB also comes with roasting tube stems made by Alan, so I still get to own a crafted item by Alan in getting the LB :) quite proud of that , it goes well with my HI log made by Alan as well .

at first with the short stem/ vapor heat of LB suprised me but I found ways to counter that quickly, either by releasing seal by lips around the stem to allow cool air if it gets hot or by releasing trigger or by drawing slower. When using a slow draw I find things keep cool and everything else falls in place.

Can't comment on the iH but quite sure they use the same stem , similar heater. Maybe those tips can be helpful to some.

Here are my LB and HI cousins. Walnut Roasting tube & Bamboo HI made by Alan . Walnut Lil'Bud by Vapwood

Maybe it's only a long honey moon but IH is still my exclusive vaporizer since few weeks ago it arrived

Slowing my draw reduces harshness and makes vapor thicker (still @ 27,5W), but I always prefer to pass through a dry honey straw (this way vapor is cool as air and honey straw protect throat/lungs from vegetal dust created by stirring)

Also: the samurai stirring tool Alan includes is dope. Allows for good stirring but not crushing the load (and dust creating), it is a needle in a bamboo handle/sleeve: very simple and useful tool, love it!

I have a VapCap double garage stash, I use it for a new vape pax scoop (loading measure unit) and Alan stirring tool inside, perfect combo for IH and any logs

Great vape!

@P.A.M. - Thanks for posting the photo. Your bamboo HI is still looking good. Shows how small Lil' Bud is next to it. I didn't fully understand how small Lil' Bud is until I tried one last night. Mike is in town for the 4/20 holiday, so I get the chance to see him a lot. May not get much work done in the shop for several days. I am very impressed with how well Lil' Bud works. It requires less pre-heat time than the iHeat. Just push the button and start drawing. Very simple operation with very effective results. The wood working quality is off the charts. They look better in person than in a photo, and they look really good in the photos. Glad you are enjoying both the Lil' Bud and the HI.

@boon - Hope you are still having good luck with the iHeat. Such an easy unit to use.

@Andreaerdna - Glad to hear you are still using you iHeat exclusively and enjoying the samurai stir tool. My screens have never been cleaner using the needle to pick the debris off between uses.

@ZC - I use iHeat's on mod boxes as cordless desktop units around the house for the most part. I do take the Witcher box out in public on occasion and it is fairly discreet.

@Bravesst - Great to have you visiting this week. Look forward to many great conversations and many great medications. Thanks so much for the Lil' Bud. It really is quite a vaporizer.

The I-Heat isn't the smoother vape I have and far to be the harsher too, ime convection vaping is a lot more agressive for throat than conduction. To avoid to have to sucks hot air for a long time inducing cough you can increase slightly temp (or wait the unit hit the temp protection) so you can reduce hit time and get dense smoother hits, but it's a Learning curve and not the best if you want to enjoy the better taste all around the session. It's more for some quick and potent hits.

I have to try to add a bit of coton fibers/hemp fibers, some guys use that to get smoother hits.

I really like this mouthpiece. Did it come from Alan? If not, where did you get it?

Got my perfect setup

I use this mouthpiece/stem

kit-de-collecte-de-mini-nectar-de-paille.jpg

I put a basket screen (the one for 12/13mm glass stem) and a silicone band (2layers) or the cork 18/14reducer @Alan makes to fit IH (there is quite a big difference between the two glass honey straw I own)

1 newvape spoon, perfect roasting @27,5w. If flowers are @62% then it is needed 1 first hit to dry them (very tasty but light) a stir and then huge clouds and light brown abv

Very very happy

Had first big accident, dumb hands related. After a nasty fall the wood was no more aligned with 510 thread.

Lucky for me, despite shock, wood didnt split and I was able to put it back in place

Since there is no adhesive whatsoever (only 2 orings) I was even able to take completely off the wooden shell, take a look inside it (no charring at all as expected) and put it back on top as it was before falling, unbreakable indeed :)

I am over honey moon, still this is the vape I choose first when I am chilling, after dinner with friends it is at his best, or while watching a show on a sofa. because of stirring it doesn’t fit all situations for me but I have yet to find a vape that fit all situations (that is why VAS exists IMO)

Something strange happened.... I disconnected my Iheat for a few days cause I was playing with others attys and when it came back on my Evic it runs hotter than before and my previous settings can lead to combustion now, So I'm working on new settings... I lowered the TCR and the power.... not enough so I lowered t° too... it works but it's a very different beast now...

For infos resistance didn't changed and it shows 0.35.

Just got an email that Alan has completed my order! About to pay for my insta heat cartridge and stem, and I'm so excited. I'll be rocking a smok alien 220 tc mod, do I'll be playing around with getting temperature control to work for sure.

I got Maple for both, cause I'm a poor poor college student who shouldn't be buying this at all, but I've been waiting do patiently for this!

Hey hey hey it's Diggy Smalls sharing first day usage with the Insta Heat Cartridge.

I had my last final today, and right before leaving for it, I notice this little package a whole day early. I'll take some proper pictures of it when I clean my room up haha

It's fun! And powerful. I've been playing with both wattage and temp mode, and I've been having good results with both, but not clouds upon clouds. Somehow this does seem more drying on my mouth than my other vapes, but it could be cause it's new. So right out the door, SS temp control works, but needs some tweaking, as I also have wattage control there. But then there is wattage mode, which is a lot easier. I didn't go higher than 39 and got very consistent results. Easy to control. I would like to get some thicker clouds from it when I use the dry bubbler, but native use, it's more of a sipper.

Sipping is great with this guy, and the lower temp hits really toast evenly, and I can get lots of satisfying hits. However, I think all this extra warm air dries out my throat extra bad, but I really like the effect and process a lot.

Anyway, it's sharp, looking, smooth in the hands, and very fast. This maple is going to age well, too.

@Diggy Smalls ! Ain't it a beauty! Well deserved , and arrives on your last final too, great timing ! Congrats on both feats! Your iHeat looks great, happy for you ! Nice mod and background art too ! I think you're right with dryness just being a new vape, same for clouds, have fun tuning in to it, I know I would and I'm sure you will : ) sharp, powerful , fast , sip and i guess rip too, sounds awesome ! looking forward to read more!

In the past, I admit that preheating made me think of conduction, but I found a pretty sweet spot. The nickle setting, and I turn the wastage kind of high, like 42, but temp 350. I get one tiny area a little bit darker than the rest, but not much at all.

This vape is so interesting. At one point, even extraction except one tiny dark spot that was almost burned. Out of the box it worked fine, but as I play around with seeings, I get better.

If playing around with settings sounds fun, I recommend it. It is fun. Lol I'm so high. Been using stem and dry bubbler all night lol. No beer tonight, so definitely a factor to my throat.

The small glass insert for the stem broke already, and it's a little bit of a bummer, but not much. It was nice, but not necessary. It did help cool the vapor when using just the stem. And I did get broken glass on me when cleaning it up. Accidents.
Tip: don't close your teeth together when vaping, it will hurt your teeth.

This vape can pump it out or take it slow. I really like it as an in demand session vape, which I didn't even know I was missing.
