Vapman

Just received my beautiful lil' Yew Vapman kit. Thanks @vapman .

I'm going to dedicate it to using only on the station to keep it like new, I've a classic walnut from @Mojo (with a lotus and om tattoo) I use daily now that has stayed looking like new with only the bowl turning a little darker over the last couple of years use. The Yew is going to be saved for special company and for myself on special occasions. (also have a couple I use with the torch when in the garden or away from the station)

The Vapman and Station has become my #1 desktop set-up, I'm loving this thing.

@RUDE BOY Lol I love my basic Yew and I use a torch on it and it still looks beautiful. Just because I went through my learning curve with my pear complete.

Does anyone else prefer the basic over the mica? I think I'd maybe want 1 more vapman but I think this time around I'd like a nice charred vapman then oiled!

@vapman I would be in the market for a third vapman if you sold charred and finished vapmans? Vapmen? . I think there was this awesome vaporizer reviewer that made a teaser vid but never ended up making a review that had a black Vapman.

Also can you guys post your different stems or setups you use with your vapman? I used to use the mflb glass tip for at home but now I put it directly in a glass J hook for home use. I also no longer use it with water ( the yew ) because I prefer the taste of the wood rather than have it go through water.

J hook with any vape is my preferred use, though I'm thinking of making a whip attachment for my vapman. Or just using the black whip from the Maud dib?

I won't put charred units in the online shop but I could char a vapman for you if you like. I have to admit, that I never charred a vapman myself but i think it should be possible. How about, you char your vapman yourself exactly the way you like it?

@vapman If I take apart my complete pear tree, would I do able to char it? Or would it just mess it up because of the finish.

What would you suggest be the best method? I'd obviously keep the mica off

It doesn't make much sense to char a classic vapman as the heat protection is a protection against the charring. It is also not possible to take your complete pear tree apart, you won't get the copper pan with the three tubes attached through the center bore.

A basic unit is much more suited for charring, it has a wider center bore which enables you to take the whole vapman apart without needing special flanging tools.

Recieved my vapman and station yesterday, what a wonderful object, was amazed about the strong full rich taste i get with it. But i found that if i follow the Station indication it is way too low for me.
The way i use it is this: I start right away with the Station on 6 +20 Secondes after the green light, then all the following hits i add +15 sec.
So i love the Station and the way it extract the herb perfectly, but i need to count or time how long i leave it after the green light for my style, which makes it less relaxing if i want consistent results, wish the max setting was combustion. Other than that i'm blown away by it:)!!

@Sikost: If you want higher temperatures, do more cycles and don't leave vapman for too long after the green light. Remember, the heater is turned off when the green light comes on, meaning, that the temperature drops after the stored energy is used up.

It takes some time to really understand, how the station works.
And don't overpack, the station works best and quick with a loose load! Doing a couple of moderate cycles is much more efficient than one or two hot ones.
Efficiency is the secret of the station, not fat and big vapor.
Gentle extraction is creepy, you don't feel much but suddendly it will hit you like nothing else. Some owners of the station would probably confirm this.
Myself, I don't youse the station at all times but when I use it, it feels each a bit stronger than with the lighter. it must be the gentle extraction delivering all the goodies.
We are talking about the fine details and the complex chemistry which is happening during a holy session.

tried the vapman with several waterpiece-configuration and to me I prefer the vapman to be on its own. Also I prefer the ritual to which I am already accomplished to..

@vapman
You had some "special editions" in the past with really good looking wood: do you have a special wood or something else coming up this year?

@Phenix: There are no new woods planned at the moment, we still have ash tree in stock. What I know is, that I won't make ebony units anymore, unless someone is supplying the wood and picking up the finished vapmans from the workshop. Since March 2017, the regulation for rare woods became stricter, special certificates (Cites) are needed for trading and shipping. This is why, I took the ebony mouthpieces off our shop, shipping these goods became real risky. Vapmans made of ebony are real rare species, there are only a very few out there. If someone wants an ebony mouthpiece, just ask us by email and we can send it as a mouthpiece without mentioning the name ebony or jacaranda. As soon the name ebony or jacaranda is mentioned on an invoice, the customs could confiscate the mouthpiece and even fine the receiver!

There a plenty of legal and beautiful woods around, these new rules don't bother me much.

@vapman and myself had to learn about the new CITES regulations the hard way. I was probably one of the last to receive an ebony Vapman. It did cost me additional 250 EUR that I had to pay as penalty fee to the German customs authorities and right now, I am part of a lawsuit which will possibly lead to me being convicted for violation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. (CITES) It's a bit ridiculous, but that's how it is.

The absolute best that @vapman could do at this stage is what he does: Stopping supply and see how things develop. Many other manufacturers will run into the same problem one day. Many woods that are intensively used for music instruments are now covered by CITES. I have read of whole orchestras that had their instruments confiscated when crossing international borders. It always depends on whether the customs officer in question already had the latest in-service training or not. Quite a difficult situation.

What about SS or ti? Have you made or given thought to making vapmans from metal?

I received a killer chess set this last Christmas that's Ebony and olive wood, most people I hang with have Ebony sets. I know it's rare and expensive but didn't realize that it's considered endangered.
