To be clear. I am not anti e nail. I would LOVE to have a setup like that. It's just my living situation doesn't support it right now.

I love when people mod and innovate a product. I have been know to mix things up myself. Example here.

Fkee6YH.jpg

This is how I've been using my Elev8r.

Still has a glass on glass connection for water but a bit nicer looking in my opinion.

Has a built in screen (possiblity larger herb chamber) and feel more like one solid piece which makes going from dry to water seamless. I like taking the first couple draws dry and then go thru water to finish it off.

Just finished setting up the Auber 300 and tweaking the 15.8 coil (widening and stretching).

Set heat to 650....but when it was somewhere around 600.......got some nice vapor!

This RDK300 is set to 612 F and coil is at 524 F. Not sure if that is a normal spread of heat range with an open air coil?

EDIT....about 2 mins after placing the coil around the heater....coil temp went up to 550 and climbing......maybe this thing just needs to equalize more after it has been on for like 10-15 mins?

EDIT2....now 10 mins later....its almost back to 612F........oh yea.....

EDIT3...yup...it has a built in feature to cool off when it senses the coil is not placed on/around something hot. wow...cool to have it back off like this....like energy saving feature...is this common on these e-nail pid's?

Ok....I will get ready for the next test. That first one was with a fairly dry wispy sativa. Now onward to some heavy indica that normally is pretty dense and shows with many draws in comparison. Please stand by....:borg:

EDIT4 LAST EDIT... Houston....we have lift off!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :argh:

We are now cruising at an altitude of 50,000 feet and holding..........feel free to remove your set belts. lol

Test went like this.....

Set temp to 650 and waited for the coil to climb as I placed it on the glass heater. Then soon after it got to about 620...i took the first draw.......wooooooo nice medium power that showed vapor at the 4-5 second mark of the draw. I know when I see vapor at the top of my glass unit....its good to let the carb go and clear the chamber ....then lift off the whole Elev8r off the joint to clear the dropdown. PERFECT PRODUCTION.

Then as the coil temp got to about 638F I took the next draw and got pretty thick vapor at the 5 second mark......then wammmy.....a big smooth as glass full structured draw that was an absolute perfect hit.

I could not be happier at this point. Even though I have some minor tweaking to do...this works exceptionally well.

There's a lot of tech in that controller Bud.
 Hahaha, thanks for making my evening bro! Classic shrewd Bio humour. I looked to see "Who's this sharp clam making such a poignant and funny comment", and it was my bro haha!

Should have known! So much for the stoneage vaporizers eh @VCBud !
Great stream btw except I didnt see it all, was late. Im gonna watch it all through though for sure thanks for everything you are doing man.

Man Im so tempted to order rdk-300 and coil. I should just wait a little and see if there are more developments. I could just get the Newvape 16mm coil for my mum's PID but Im sure the auber coil is way more suitable due to the angle as a pose to straight Newvape coil, which would make me very nervous breakage wise.

Im no good with manual shit, especially when strength is required, so Im not totally confident about my ability to stretch the coils apart. But I want what I saw Bud doing last night whike I harassed my arse with the Big Shot.

So I am open to persuasion and encouragement to make a move on this (in either direction.);)

@LabPong Great to hear e-nail coils are powerful enough to give satisfying hits. Do you need to wait a bit for heater to get up to temp between hits or you can do chain draws like with the Flowerpot ? :))

It's all good, I was just wondering because I notice smoking is smoother for some people then vaporizing.

Im not ruling it out bro, a seperate argument I am open to like most others, for a rainy day!;)
Rapid vaporization feels smoother to me than a slow boil. My lungs feel better after a single fat rip compared to after 10 hits with larger AIR:Vapor ratio , which means overall larger volumes of fast moving air to dry my throat and cause irritation.
Another factor that plays are the essential oils some of which cause relief to lungs and throat. When you get it all in one hit ,they are mixed along with the majory of the more irritating compounds which results in a less irritating hit overall and also effects are more satisfying IMO.
In case of slow vaporization things degrade due to the heat and are becoming more irritating, thats why last hits feel much harsher then the first ones.
Probably the case where Alexis combusted the most compounds vaporized before they combusted and the essentials relieved the overall stress from the experience :).
IMO the perfect vaporizer functionwise would be one that can vaporize small amounts in a single draw and have a self feeding mechanism for the herb, which ensure that every hit is as fresh as the other without the need of constant reloading.

Bud said on his live stream last night that it does need a little time in between hits, like 30 seconds. I dont see this as being a problem, it still looked dead easy for hime to vape through it in a satisfactory manner.

To answer a few questions......

I have been slowly bending the downward angle out of the Auber coil...I wish it was straight like the Newvape one. Reason for this is because the Auber coil is so light weight and it is like having a wire with nothing of mass weight on the end. It flops around too easy and having some sort of handle or some sort of partial cover or shield....it would be much easier and stable to deal with taking it on and off. But that is me and how I use it on my large desk top and with the stereo matrix unit. I will wait to change anything with it and see what comes up with others and possibly something commercial that could appear with a diff coil possibly. But it works well now and no issues of function in regards to performance.

I basically give it just a minute or less after I put the coil on the heater and get an 80% ready draw with good smooth and medium vapor. Which is sometimes hard to get with a torch. I did not like leaving the coil on the heater too long as the sick clip gets damn hot and the bowl starts to get hot and more tricky to lift off the bowl/heater/coil all in one to help clear the draw completely. I found no issue taking draws quickly if you want....stirring will get in the way more I feel as far as timing goes. But also keep in mind.....I am using a smaller bowl than the stock Elev8r one. I am just using a basic 18 to 14mm adapter that is smaller in diameter at the middle and bottom of the screen....and also shorter...so the load is closer to the heater and I think I gain lots of quickness to vapor in comparison to the stock one. This made a lot of difference in use for me because I can now do any size load I want. Before with the stock bowl....it seemed 0.15 was minimum for good production. Now I can do one hitters so easily.

Using this method with the Elev8r is not half as quick and clean compared to using the Flowerpot. But, I do not feel the need to have quick draws from one to the other because of such high level of medicating per draw. But still....nothing compares to the ease and simplicity of using the flowerpot with such a uncomplicated mechanical process. I really enjoy and like both vapes and could not put one over the other because of what they can do and how nice they do it.

I totally agree with your assessment of the session type vapes compared to instant one smackers @Abysmal Vapor. Spot on....the workout your throat and lungs go through with the Air or other ones like it....does create more harshness to do the entire process of finishing the load. This is one reason why my vapcap gets used more if I just want to sip or have little medication. But I do like the taste I get off the Air with a water unit.....for the first half of draws......flower quality is everything here for good results.

That said.....there will be certain times that I will use a torch with the elev8r......like when I keep a separate unit in my garage work room....torching there will be no issues like when I take a break from mowing the lawn or working outside in my yard. I have 2 propane torches I rarely use out there and that would be fitting for me to use when I'm all dirty and sweaty.....and just want some quick relieve and get my @ss back to work. lol

Good stuff going on with vaping.......the envelop is getting pushed hard now it seems.

Sober and stoned
I was sick last week and spent some time with this device. When my cold was worst, I enjoyed the elev8r through water with some thyme mixed in with the herbs. When I got better I used the wand. Once you got used to it, it is very easy to master.

Shout-out to @7thFloorVapes:
Unfortunately, my flavor disc always fell into the flower chamber and I asked 7thfloor for guidance, and guess what: they sent me two new flavor discs plus a wand plus a new heater. Thank you so much for this.
And, magically, the day the new stuff arrived, my old heater broke (without my wrongdoing) - it simply cracked while being heated. It also made me realize that the heaters vary slightly: The old one I could manage easily with the sick clip, like in the first elev8r video. This does not work with my new one. When it is hot it sits very tightly in the socket and can only be removed when cooled down.

The downside, as said before, is my fucked up tolerance, so I am on an official T-break now. I ordered some premium CBD flower (legal in EU) that tastes awesome and that I can enjoy with the elev8r now.

Does the new heater you receive have a glass nub on it?

The only reason I would want 2-3 nubs on the heater....is to just keep the sick clip from getting so hot to the touch. I do not mind the coil sitting down lower on the heater...heat rises remember! Plus getting the hot spot closer to the load helps a lot.

I can see needing higher temp setting if you are using the stock bowl. The one I am using is about 5mm shorter than the stock bowl. I would like to have one that is 110-12mm shorter than stock from the top of connection to the screen. I think if that is the case....much less temp will be needed and quicker extraction would result as the heat would be condensed and more efficient inside the bowl.

So I am going to be on the lookout for a really short 18mm to 14mm adapter/bowl.

Oh....and one other thing I have been thinking about. Just for seeing a few pics of others heaters....as I look at the intake hole on top....seems like there is some variance in the size of this hole? Wondering what would happen if the hole was half the size? I would like to try that experiment for sure.

There is also obviously variance in the size and shape of the nubs. I checked my prize win heater yesterday (was previously unopened) and it DOES have a nub, but it sticks out a little less than my usage one. Should still be able to support the coil.

Im sure if we can figure out what is required ultimately, with quartz in mind and looking ahead, that @7thFloorVapes will do what they can to offer the most coil compatible, functional heaters they can. I hope so anyway, too much potential here which just has to be explored, in the name of driving the future evolution of vaporization if not just to satisfy the masses as 7th Floor typically do so well.

Im not sure I am with you Labpong on a bowl that is that much shorter. I have found with other vapes that when I put the load closer to the heater, it changes the vape signature and I camt find the same happy medium where my allergies are as happy as they were with the screen lower, even if I drop temps, it can still cause more aggravation.

So wouldnt want to change too much. Of course this may not be the case with the Elev8r, but it may be a part of how it works so well to have a reasonable distance from the heater to screen. Or not?

My 2 new bowls like yours will be here tomorrow, the screens came today.

And I am an impulsive lobster at times. So after some deliberation, feeling deep down that it is absolutely the right thing to do for my health, happiness and gettinf the most benefit from vaporizing and cannabis- I have today ordered the rdk-300 and coil!

What I particularly dislike about torching- I cant guarantee exactly what I will get each hit, and sail through my routine in total relaxed, detached mode to get the exact temp and sized hits I need, on a predictable orderly and most of all- TIMELY fashion.

The unpredictability of the torch slows me down and causes quite a bit of anxiety to be so "switched on" from beginning to end. One thing that I really noticed from @VCBud 's awsome live stream- he seems to get so many more good hits from a load than I have been with the torch. I feel that the way the heat starts off so high and drops quick with torching- maybe a lot of actives are cooked out quickly, giving a harsher start to the hit and resulting in a faster exhaustion.

Not just down to the herb I don't believe.

@LabPong I am still quite nervous about my ability to get the coil separated right. But also, I dont have any real coil experiencs when it comes to stands etc. Only the FP and their round stand I picked up. So Im not sure what sort of stand I could/should use for the Auber coil.

I would welcome any insight or suggestions for a non-practical philosophical freak.

First load of the day now- 0.17 gr of Auto Durban Poison. An uplifting sativa effect. Too much indicas yesterday, they really dont help much with my chronic fatigue condition.
Off to town next!

Alexis....dang man.....I have way too many things to say and go back and forth on....work is getting in the way now...lol

I will expound more later.....but I am just going off using the flowerpot about moving the screen up closer to the heater in the Elev8r. I will have to experiment and use the stock bowl again for a week and see if I find any less irritation in my lower throat area...which I have a prob with.

About using the torch.....I found that I got much bigger hits so far using the torch. But that is because it is a crap load more heat on it for the heat up period. It all depends on your technique I think about getting decent consistent heating patterns. I have a way of doing it where I get really close results always. It is basically a mental and physical thing all at once. I spin my entire water rig around with one hand spinning it flat on the desk in front of me. Then hold the torch with the other hand and slowly move the flame tip around the heater. I keep the same speed of flame tip movement around the circumference of the heater...and spin the whole water unit back and forth 3 times. Pretty much about 40 seconds or so. I found this so much easier to deal with then using a small torch on a vapcap. (i only use an IH on my vapcaps now).

Great points again Alexis....I wish we could get together in a room full of glass parts and have a huge experiment. :)

Thanks buddy always appreciate your thoughts and insights. Yes sure it would be a treat to meet up in person like with so many great members I know here, removing those internet limitations to communication would be amazing.

Just to be clearer, I can actually get pretty consistent results torching. Last 2 days every single hit is perfectly smooth and very satisfying. But I am so incredibly physically and mentally fatigued, my brain is in zombie survival mode 24/7 just coping with symptoms round the clock.

I seriously struggle with basic tasks due to such heavily compromised brain function and physical ability/energy. Like cooking simple food right (I have to cook 100% of my own food at home since 2005 due to allergies etc), and it is like the hardest thing ever for me to do when my condition is bad, and I cock up (yes, that's right- "cock", not "cook") my food all the time- undercooked, over, too much water, not enough etc... always messing up my sensitive digestion for a few days.

So, the point? When it comes to vapor, I like my dinner to be "on a plate"!
If that makes sense? I CAN do it torching- I have been every damn day since this Elev8r got me hooked 10 weeks ago!!:brow:

But my mind will be able to access such a different happier, more chilled headspace to take this interactive aspect out. Hence why I just HAD to order the Auber. I would have done it sooner, but Im saving for the Herbo. Im sure this will keep me happier though while I accrue Herbo funds, and in both the long and short run will pay off and be a smart investment.

@Vital the mouthpiece is just a 10mm stem to get me a bit further out of camera view.
I'm not sure what you mean by "what did you use."

Sorry if I didn't phrase it well. What I meant was; how did you connect the 10mm stem to your rig, and what does the stem look like? It's a pretty interesting mouthpiece. ;)

UPGRADES!
New bowls from Vapefiend arrived today, alreafy fitted with the fine ss screens I got from Amazon.

So far, looking really good and promising. These screens are fatnastic. They are tougher than the stock screens, but bend and weld very easily, also hold their shape firmly. Was dead easy to install in the smaller bowl to be perfetcly concave in the centre of the bowl (it's definitely "concave"! Some have recently led me to believe it is "convex" and I had it wrong.)

This way the edges of the load are much more in the air stream and should without doubt enable more complete extraction and bigger hits from smaller loads, with less heat and less stirring/shaking.

I will hopefully have some testing reports later once I get going in the day, difficult start so far.
But REALLY pleased with the looks right now. Loving these screens, I bet they will work well with the stock bowl too and can be formed concave to sit in he centre.
