Multi-brand Vivant Alternate

I think that's getting a little too off topic for this thread, but rest assured many state and local governments are looking at this.

That being said, I just noticed a crack on the new Alternate I just got on January 17th. Not even a month this time!
Not off topic, we are discussing the quality of plastics in vapes, specifical
something like this or some other spot?

Everyone gets cracking right there in the Alternate! They're gonna go out of business if this reputation keeps holding up. Too much competition now

I dont think the cracking there is a big deal in the grand scheme of things .....its over the battery....

Sure I would like it not to crack at all.....but mine has it again....and really....at the end of the day....it still works like a champ.....does the job I want to do....I would love for @Vivant to come out with a revised version that uses better plastic there....but so far....Its a go to vape for me....because it works so well...

I agree, it doesn't affect performance with the crack over the battery, for now. Interestingly enough Vivant has offered to repair my current Alternate this time. Perhaps @Vivant can share some details as to why these keep cracking over the battery, and what the repair will change so this doesn't happen in the future.

Looks nice. I've always preferred glass WPAs to silicone ones. You don't know how many times I've been vapebonging in groups, and someone pulls straight up (after pushing the vape into the joint), or twists to the left when taking the vape out, pulling the WPA off and spilling bud everywhere.
Think the glass ones will be great will get mine in a few days.

Vivant why don't you build an double battery alternate like the Tera or a new version of the alternate with body made from the same plastic like the v3 topcap?

Perhaps you can change only the cracking part beside the bowl.
That would be great.
I bought two alternates for me an my girlfriend because you solved the problem with the cracking topcaps and wrote to me in an email that there were only 4 or 5 warranty cases with cracked bodys.
Now I am reading here that someones have the same problem with their replacement device.
I hope ours woun't crack.
Got them from PV and they wrote that they have new ones directly from Vivant in stock now.
So maybe the fresh ones eventually are changed to not cracking plastic and i got some old ones.
What to do if they cracks.
Will I have to send it back or only take photos for an replacement at PV?
I am from germany so I fear the sending back of devices used with "non-legal" weed.
Perhaps you have some nice news about that for me?
Anybody else here who can help me?

Is there anybody from europe with experienceshipping from PV Canada to germany?
The Canadian Post says item has been sent to customs of germany.
My fear is that they have too much time on the weekend at the customs for inspecting every pack.

Off topic.... When l ordered the glass WPA for the Alternate .... I decided to order the vleaf also...for the price i figured.... What the hell ... Anyways....its not bad... Quality looks and feels real nice..... Its size and weight is very similar to my arizer air....

For a $60 (ca) unit ... The vapor and taste is not that bad.

I think the vapor and taste of the alternate is fantastic. With a clean unit I'd say comparable to a Crafty or Mighty easily. It's no Milaana but it also isn't only convection.

If it didn't crack I would recommend it to anyone. Mine still works great with the cracks but I fear eventually the mechanism that holds the mouthpiece in place will also crack as they have spread and gotten bigger over time.

@Cheesequake hit me up when yours dies and I'll send you mine. I truly don't use it, and mine never had any of the cracking issues. I've almost always used my WPA from Delta 9 with it. I believe that things that work should be used, and if I'm not using it I'd be more than happy to pay it forward. Let me know.

I will always be grateful to the Alternate-it convinced me that I could get the results I wanted from vaping flower-and that's no small thing. But after spending time with my vapcaps and Milaana I truly have no use for it.

Vivant's new motto "...not that bad"

:lol::lol::lol:

I just have used it a few times seeing how I still use the Alternate ......I have the Arizer Air....and if I could add a glass stem to the vLeaf ......I wouldnt be surprised that I couldnt tell the difference between the two...

Concerning the Alternate......mine has a crack also.....I dont think its under warranty anymore...was already replaced once before......That being said.......I love it....I use it daily and it never disappoints ...

Hallo together!!!

Please kidnap me and say to vivant you want an alternate with whole body built from the topcap v3 plastic for my freedom.

If this didn't have the cracking issues, I believe it would be one of the best removable 18650 battery vapes on the market for the price. Hopefully with revenue from the new Vleaf and Dabox they can fix the issues. I hope they fix these issues because I want to buy one really badly.

One thing I don't understand is why the battery door cracks? The battery shouldn't be subject to high temperatures, and neither should the battery door. Possibly creating vents (if it doesn't already have some) near or on the battery door might fix that issue.

Another thing: Why didn't they originally use the higher-grade plastic in the first place? PEEK or something else (I realize this would raise the price of the product because high-grade materials cost more) that is not only heat resistant but prevents expansion and contraction or is at least resistant to that kind of weathering would have been a smarter choice. Now that there have been many units already produced, those have to be sold before producing with different materials, so I don't see the body cracking issue being resolved unless more cooling countermeasures are added such as vents which don't require new plastics and new production.

I'm torn between this, the Xvape FOG, or the Healthyrips Fury 2; If the cracking issues were fixed I'd jump on this baby no doubt about it.

Damnit Vivant. You're making it really tough here.

By the way: How's the comparison in potency between hits on the three portables I mentioned (I'm excluding the starry because I don't want conduction)? I'd assume the Alternate beats out the Fog and the Fury 2 in this case. I just want some fat clouds and portability without dropping $250 on a vape.

The more convection based vaporizer of the 3 is the Fog but there is still a hint of conduction and, imho, Fury (I only get the 1 but manufacturer told us versions 1&2 share the same heater) and Alternate are hybrid vapes.
If you are looking for tasty convection hits (and very cloudy too) in a very stealth unit Fog is a nice choice but if you are a cloud chaser and want to use your device through a bong Alternate and Fury is a good choice with a small personnal préférence for the vapor signature out of an Alternate, and clouds from it are denser despite a smaller t° range (Alternate max t° is 420 and 430 for the Fury). Never tried concentrâtes with the Fury 1 (I must to do it with a wick cause the included glass jar to insert in the bowl doesn't work well) but the alternate shines with concentrâtes with the included pad or mixed with flowers or a coton/hemp fiber ball.

Actually I'm in love with the Fog cause efficiency, sleek and simple design, taste, convection and building quality but I keep my Alternate (in bad shape ) for its signature despite the worst building quality and a pretty long heating time.

How would you compare the alternate, fog and swift pro when it comes to efficiency?
Pls!!!
Look for my next post....

How would you compare the alternate, fog and swift pro when it comes to efficiency?
My swift pro works great with 0.1 g and with very good green with 0.07 g or 0.08 g it milks me up a 54 cm waterpipe very good for an convection vape with passively conduction heat from an CFV aluminum chamber.
If I take 1.2 g - 1.3 g it makes a lot more fun through my pipe with the best milking experience.
With 1.4 g to 1.5 g it is nice if you want 3 good pulls with constant but sometimes not the "milkiest" vape because the heated air isn't passing the green/bowl evenly if it is packed to much.
With good strains for producing vape it doesn't matter how much you put in the swift pro, the point is how to get all the vape in your loung if you're doing it right it has an point where it woun't stop milking while pulling.

So it is not bad even if it isn't a herborizer or sublimator and it could have lil bit more power.
Hope the alternate will punch my loungs more.
I like the swift for his evenly heating through the green and that it let the green alive long what gives you a longer session and nice efficiency.
That's good if you use it with mouthpeace IMO.
On the pipe it is nice to get more pulls this way.
But i had an experience with the vapo bowl on this pipe.
I vaped 0.25-0.3g with one really big pull and a small one and there was no life in the green without stirring and damn that got me really medicated!
So I am searching a device what makes exact the same without having to do allright on my own for good working and good vaping experience.
I think that could be a lotus, dynavap, elev8er,
herborizer, sublimator or symphony glass.
I thought the Tera will be strong enough to do the same like this lil vapobowl.
I was waiting so long for the Tera because I like that it has alot of more power than the cfv/swift and the concentrate mode with more heat could bring me back the no stirring/all vape in one pull - experience.
But IMO the Tera has to get updated from boundless.
I like to have a portable and that is the reason i bought me the alternate, after the V3 topcap update and after they told me that there were only 4 or 5 cracking body issues and before some guys from FC forum wrote that they got cracks on the replacement alternates.
So now I know that 6 percent of all built alternates eventually got cracks....
The swift is nothing for outdoor IMO.
It is portable from one socket to the other.
So my biggest hope was the Tera to be the new herborizer for on the go!!!
I don't know if I should pay ca 330 Euro for herborizer ti or 159 Euro for the updated Tera.
The mighty would be nice too but I don't buy another device without changeable batteries.
Anybody here who recommend a nice device?

Did you get the Vivant WPA in Canada, or cross-border?

My alternate has the crack above the battery, like most everyone, but I don't see any performance issue from it. The V3 top-cap is miles better than the original and works great. Hoping to upgrade to a Tera if the problems get sorted out, or maybe there'll be an Alternate 2 by then.

Well... mouthpiece problem solved! Permanently :D
Never liked the Crafty style cooling-chambers/mouthpieces anyway.
