Hex-Nail (HN-01) - RIP

@exmex its looking like a week since they are waiting on coils to come in. But other than that, they are working on getting the latest patch ready to release and also working on the port of the touch screen units to the new OS

Oh that's the info I was after 3 days ago when I asked what "soon" really meant. Only so many weeks can go by and still count as "soon".

Well I just ordered the silicone O ring and S clips to secure the coil to the banger. Damn was it painful having to pay seven dollars in shipping for a tiny five dollar part, but I guess it’s better than wasting lots of time and patience wandering around Home Depot or wherever trying to find the right bits... I thought about using those Nite Ize rubberized twist ties, but figured it’s probably not high temperature silicone.
I also ordered some new 25 mm flat top bangers from thickass glass.com.

@exmex Depending on when your unit was purchased in the batch it could be made and waiting for a coil right now they are currently burning in coil’s and waiting for more that’s part of the hold up on the red queen shipments, I did see a post on IG from Ava directly that if you absolutely need your unit they can ship it to you without the coil and then when the coil arrives they will ship that to you but I shipping is on you due to multiple shipments and it more of a hassle on their end than waiting a week or two more for them to ship it complete, and you will just be blown away more when you get it cause the new OS will be rock solid

BUT I would direct message them on IG,here @HexNailAva @HexNailLiz and they might be able to help you out if you already have a coil

I dont want to set a hard date or timeline and have it miss as then there are the highs and lows with waiting for new toys. =)

Also I apologize if I seemed short in my last response, Its been a busy day in my corner

Good things come to those who wait. This is a very true statement, the part they leave out is how much it sucks waiting

So my FatDabCo bangers and 25mm coil arrived and I assembled the 10mm banger and coil without any trouble at all. Had to spread the coil just a millimeter or so using only my hands and slipped it pretty tight over the banger.

I have a bunch of silicone o-rings from my old Arizer Solo vape so I paired those with some 14mm s-hooks from Amazon to keep the coil on the banger. I've only had one hit at 400F measured temp so far but it was very tasty. Looking forward to experimenting with various temps and carb caps!

Is there any rough guess on when Round 2 will start shipping besides just a 'soon' haha? I thought i would be fine with waiting but finding out now that my high 5 enail cant run the augusthaus coil for the liger i just got im really starting to crave my red queen

Cant use a flat coil either because cca710 didnt send the stock heat shield for some reason even tho i paid for it :\ so have to wait for them to figure out why :(. Ive already been waiting over a month to experience sapphire and hopefully bigger dabs and i have everything in front of me but cant use it

Grab one of High5s adapters and you can use any coil and i can pretty much guarantee it'll be there to you before CCA figures anything out.

And as an aside for the "waiting for coils" nonsense.......Id GLADLY take my unit without a coil now and receive it later....... a quarter of a years wait for....well, waitings sake i guess is wearing thin, regardless of excuses and promises of a great future....as I'm STILL SITTING HERE WITH ISSUES ON AN HN01, issues that all but assure if this "magical software that fixes everything"....doesnt intact "fix everything" that my HN01 is on its sure way to grenade itself with no satisfactory recourse. I guess in the future, hold off on firing up the hype train so early....again.... Not mad, but getting there.

I'm sure you've mentioned it previously in the thread, but what's the issue with your HN-01?

:sherlock:

I very VERY rarely have what id call even near to stable temps, I get slow downs like the unit is getting bogged down somewhere in its function and will have a very jerky jerky status display, relatively frequent full hard lock ups of the unit (that thank god keeps killing to the power to the coil instead of letting it run up as other have reported), the unit has been "frozen" in that its always set to the same setup (i.e. temps and nail) and unless i happen to be using that setup again, i have to reset the unit every single time I power it up. my unit DOES NOT FUNCTION properly with 2 different examples of AH coil, my units wood finish was nothing short of a mess and their recommended fix...well wasn't.

The entire software setup feels like its got a memory creep or overfill issue where the software keeps "growing" or getting more fragmented or messed up as time goes along. Im not sure why a fix of allowing a reflash to the original software dump wouldn't fix everything.....at least until the built in issues come to the surface again.

Don't get me wrong, when it works, it works great, but there are so many caveats to, at least my particular unit, that I don't really have a whole lot of benefit of the doubt for the Hex crew at this point as we have seen repeating excuses at this point and really just kinda want what Ive paid like 4 months in advance for after what like 6mo at least of hardcore hype train rides.

yes but I was referring to

https://highfivevape.com/universal-coil-adapter.html

so it shouldn't be a concern

Ya i have that adapter and i bought it thinking it would let me use any 'standard wiring" coil on my high5 enail but nope! Its to use high5 coils on any other enail with "standard wiring" which i wouldnt do anyways. I did rewiring the adapter to try and use the AH coil on the high5 but the AH coil being a bigger 110v150w just instantly blew the fuse on my enail.

Sorry if this has been asked before...Does the hex-nail have a touh screen built in or is it mainly controlled via the web-app. Some pics i see a touchscreen and some i just see a box with a led that lights up.

so what models are in the campaign to be released now...both?? Which are available for pre-purchase is a better question?

thank you for clarifying this for me...so i bet the one that has a touchscreen has a nice price attached to it as well.

The HN02 is the preorder unit, there has been 1 round shipped so far I believe.
The HN01 is special order from them I believe but not a normal current model

Has anyone here by chance had their HN-01 or HN-02 shipped 'cross the border to Canada?

I'm curious how the package is marked $ wise, and who the courier is. Trying to not get dogged by duties and all that fun stuff. May just have it sent to Buffalo.

Sorry to interject.. don't have much to add other than I don't mind waiting all too much. If the product is rock solid, it's all gravy. :)

Mine has border hopped twice now, I believe the label said something like Royal Mail Service o something, I can find the box and check the label though to be sure. I think it was valued at like $100 and shipping wasn't to bad at all

When my kubeone shipped from august I got dinged for customs taxes (I'm in Toronto), as the price was marked on the packing slip.. I actually thought about mentioning it to him for future customers but I could possibly see the benifit of having the price marked in case of breakage/loss.

I haven't had any taxes on my liger or glass from dhgate, though the liger was labeled titanium parts with a cost of 0 if I remember correctly

So I've had my quartz banger with insert and 25mm coil for a few days now and have been dabbing with it exclusively. I have over a dozen strains of rosin that I know quite well and have been dabbing them over the last month using the 20mm Liger with sapphire insert.

I have to say that without exception the quartz banger tastes significantly better! The only reason I can see for this is the shorter, cooler all-glass air path as opposed to the longer, hotter, Ti. I'm using the same rig, dabber and Gordo bubble cap I used with my 20mm Liger so as to minimize the number of variables. Anyone have another theory?

I can't believe I spent so much on Ligers and inserts and went through those awful, time-sucking customer service experiences. All I needed was a $35 banger and $15 insert to easily beat the taste of my $440 Liger with sapphire insert.

Thanks so much to everyone who blazed the path and recommended FatDabCo! Anyone need some Ligers?

Do you have the insert in before or do you fill the insert and then drop it in?

The "drop-in tech" to me adds so much more flavor in comparison just because you're (at least on a small scale) allowing for the terpenes to boil off closer to their normal boiling temperature as opposed to be burned off by being immediately immersed in temperatures well above their boiling point. This is probably only part of the reason because most terpenes are roughly in the 300-400F range, I believe.

Haven't been able to test this with a coil for more exact temperatures but it's definitely noticeable even in just the basic torch/quartz scenario.
